Thanks for the video is a lot help Hi have the same problem after 4 years my headlights in the night time is very dark so bad to drive .. I need information about it !! please can you let me know where you buy this kit please and many thanks
Hey Raul, I got the kit off diode dynamics. Link here www.diodedynamics.com/replacement-d2s-hid-bulbs-pair.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIttPytKit9QIVVzizAB3IiAOWEAQYASABEgKFJvD_BwE If you have aftermarket D2S bulbs these are a direct fit. Just make sure you have these or D2H etc first before ordering
Question here, I recently got a pair of used aftermarket Helix headlights for my GTI mk7, They worked fine for a couple of days but the passenger side HID low beam light does not turn on any more, I checked the ballast and light bulb and they are good. Any suggestions what May possible be ? Thanks
You said that they were working fine for a couple of days and now they don't? That's good. It's most likely something small. Did you do anything since then? Best advice I can give is recheck connections, make sure rubber boot is sealed into the socket good etc. Try to Swap ballasts or bulbs and troubleshoot if it's the light, ballast, or just a dirty connection. Start very small. I ran into this as well and it was a loose connection. Also make sure the light bulb is installed correctly. HID are great, but can be tricky to troubleshoot.
@@jeffmartin2675 no I haven’t, I’ve done some research and most likely is due to low voltage feeding the HID light bulb, so I was just curious if any one has encountered any issues like that and come up with a solution ( different kind of light bulbs, wiring harness etc etc …) Thanks for the replay!!
Yeah, any of the non lighting pack (LP) models such as the S can use the aftermarket helix, BEC, etc headlights. I know helix uses D2H bulbs and i'm pretty sure the others do as well. They should have it listed with the ballast if you buy the headlights with the ballasts in them already.
It depends on the headlight housing you have. Are they stock or aftermarket? Because most stock is just H7. D2H is a hybrid of the H7 where it has an H7 base with an AMP connector while retaining the D2 shape profile. Those connect to the ballasts. But when there's a will, there's a way so you could always get an adapter.
@@harmonyisak4439 Ah ok, so the same as mine then. I installed the HID setup in mine. If you have a standard projector housing with halogens already in your helix headlights, just match the socket/plug type. It's hard to say without seeing it personally, but if the insides look like mine in the video, go with the D2H bulbs. Anything else would be H7 or D2S. The HID setup with ballasts etc really makes these shine, but if you are purely seeking bulbs, the H7/D2S will work. @@harmonyisak4439 ahh gotcha lol. You should be just fine then. You shouldn’t have any real issues except maybe size of the bulb length wise, but i doubt it. Hope it works out well! You’ll definitely enjoy it much more than stock!

will these work in the 2020 GTI s?

So there’s the large adapter, the two smalls… but what do I do with those loose end pieces?
If I think I'm understanding you correctly, you just pop them into the black brick looking like piece and wrap electrical tape around them.
Hey do H7 bulbs work in low beams instead of the D2H bulbs?

@@jeffmartin2675 I have the Helix headlights with projector low beams. Double U U lights up like the Golf R lights.
I hope H7 HID bulbs work
