Well done on the flippers. Those butterfly screws are handy, the drill bit cuts the hole and the wings make the hole in the wood larger so the thread doesn't catch but they fall off when they try to go through the steel so the thread can cut into it. I like how open plan it is at the moment, just line it with shag pile carpet and throw in some bean bags and a fondue kit🏴‍☠️😁

Thanks for info. Think if we follow your advise , re the shag pile carpet etc , the neighbours would think we were filming a 1970's porno !! 😀😃😄😁.

Kerf cutting is known by the pros, but hardly by the DIYer... All is looking good, it will be a little narrower but very much warmer the way you are making the linings (walls).. Great job...

At first I thought you were wiping the glue without gloves, I assume it’s polyurethane, as that stuff is impossible to clean off as it stains skin. As I found out to my cost!. The work is brilliant to watch.

Thanks Gary. The squeaky speeded up voice on the vlog was Hayley telling me off for using my glove to wipe off the excess. You notice later on I use a bit of scrap wood !! 😀😀

Not sure if you know - but cutting into the back of the boards to make them bend easier is an old trick - well known - they're called Kerf cuts.

Greetings, Love the Build progress. Silly question, What is your power source? Do you have a generator or solar panels?
Where have you been living during the time?
    Van? Home?

We are just on mains power in the yard at the moment while working on the boat but it will be solar once we are on the water. We have been living on the boat through the build. Its been harsh and messy but its worked better for us.👍

Great video, the boat is coming along nicely. Can you explain the reasoning behind the double battening? Loved the pancake flipping :-)

Thanks for watching. Yeah we double battened the walls so we got a decent air gap between the insulation and the finished wall covering to act as a thermal break.

Not at all familiar with the blue stained wood, we don't have that here in the US. I presume it's a marine treatment?

Hi. They are roofing battens coloured blue to indicate that each individual batten has been assessed, graded and complies to the British Standard strength requirement. We didn't really need that requirement for the boat but cost wise the difference was minimal so we went with them.

@@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg Cool, thank you. We watch a number of narrow boat UA-cam channels, and you're definitely the best carpenter of the bunch. We're smack dab in the middle of the United States of America, and will probably never be on a narrowboat, but we enjoy watching people build them and cruise on the canals.

@@midwestconcertvideo Thankyou for your kind comments. So glad you are enjoying our vlog. I'm actually a qualified Gas Engineer and Plumber by trade but have picked up other skills along the way. Sounds like you live in an idilic part of the USA and yes it's a long way from the canals of the UK but the internet is a wonderful thing for seeing other parts of our planet. Thanks for watching. 👍👍

@@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg We're in Kansas City, at the junction of the Kansas and Missouri rivers. The latter flows to the Mississippi at St Louis, then down to the Gulf of Mexico at New Orleans. We don't have many people living aboard boats on these rovers as they are just too huge, but they are still used for barge traffic.
