Agree with Bill ,would of washed off outside and cable tied shims and snycromesh parts together!!!
i think i'd have taken a moment to clean the grit & grime off of the housing before opening the guts. the last thing you want is to have any of those contaminates to find its way into those precision parts & seals.
the damage that could cause, would be more costly & time consuming than if you had simply cleaned the housing to begin with. i hope that didn't happen, but that's a gamble i wouldn't take.
It's part oficial their culture, a mess. Non-professional. Here in Brazil is the same.

Just see where are placing the gears,parts ,on the soily , dirt, ground .Should do in a workshop ,parts claened in diesel oil .No doubts they have some skills in repairing the gearbox .This are all expensive ,precision parts to be handled properly .Clean the outer gearbox casing first .

@@Brad-lt6mr the point you're making is pointless in this case, because they ARE at a repair shop. They do have access to a brush, degreaser, running water. So what is their excuse for not using everything available to prevent contamination?

Oh really excellent. Lets just put all the parts on the ground in the dirt. Having rebuilt these myself I'm keen to see them put it back together. If you damage the green sealing rings on the main drum the box won't work.

This how it's usually done in the field . Someone experienced at this is usually better than someone who's not in a perfect shop . Still it's hard to believe until it's finished . Unbelievable what some folks can do with very little .

Are these shims important? I saw something similar in Mexico. A tipper truck had broken down. Gearbox pieces on the road. Not in the sand though. Fixed next day and driven away.

That is forward differential, for a heavy vehicle. Not to difficult to teardown this thing, but if you going to assamble it back require proper tools and experienced people. In this video you don't know if the job done meets all specifications.
