This is the most informative and all round fantastic video about this really unique department. Any other video is one of somebody walking by a station and pointing out Mickey Mouse 🤣 Rest in peace, lieutenant James Dorminy thank you for your service.
I am able to look at things from a former firefighter's perspective. As a former heavy rescue crew chief I have immense respect for everyone on the job. I have been blessed by several members of RCFD making sure that I present the most accurate picture available. The Reedy Creek Improvement District firefighters and EMS members really are my heroes at WDW.
@@AsBobSeesIt as a former volunteer firefighter in a tiny rural community I was very intrigued when I realized Disney World was part of its own municipality. I'm so grateful you took the time and put in the effort to make this video and give this unique department some of the spot light.
@@alec4672 My first foray into firefighting was as a volunteer. Some of the biggest fires I fought were as a volunteer that actually had the word "Rural" in it's name. (While I attended college in Virginia, I was on a volunteer department.) Volunteers make up a majority of firefighters in the USA and I have great respect for them. So if no one else has said it (or even if they have), thank you for your service and dedication.
Having been a very specialized rescue-firefighter, I find departments, like Reedy Creek, fascinating. You need only search Google Images for Jack Daniels Fire Department and you'll be hooked?) Reedy Creek is faced with the unenviable task of keeping their fire department hidden, while keeping it visible. They want guests to feel safe while not panicking them (eg: "Hey why is there a fire engine in front of the castle?)
As one of my Professors/Instructors (Deputy Chief -Charleston, WV FD) in college said..."Puke Yellow should never be used as a color for fire apparatus".
Yikes, I'm so sorry about the hospital stay and your health battles. Please know you both are in my prayers.
First follow up surgery went well today. Got another after Thanksgiving.
