Is YouTube Dead?

- Whilst UA-cam has been our favourite creator platform for the last few years, it seems to have a growing emphasis on commerciality over creativity. And, with hundreds of well known UA-camrs quitting the platform every month, it's not only us that feel that way. So, while we don't plan to quit UA-cam just yet, we do feel it's time for a change. And that's what we want to share with you and ask your opinions on in this live stream!
I miss your educational videos. Great channel. Happy Easter guys
We have a ton of production video content in the works now!
Cheers!
I've begun purposely never buying anything I see on a advert.
I never have😊
I can't fathom that adverts actually work .. but I guess they must?
love the idea of the weekend class. It’s exactly what I did some 20 years ago, it was 3 days in 3 different studios: 1 day recording, 1 day mixing and half a day mastering.
regarding the price, a discount would be nice for MUM owners 🤓
I say the other way around - 50% discount on MUM-8s for every course attendee .. so they can do good work when they get home
Love all the work that you do. I think that UA-cam is necessary to help get your message out there. It does take a shitload of videos to make, but it's worth it as, over time, you will gain more people that love what you do as it does. I love Present Day because I love learning new things in production. I found this channel because of UA-cam and hope many more do.
Thank you so much :)
Patreon is a great idea! Benn Jordan and Hainbach have great Patreon communities. It's so much better suited for creators such as yourselves. Having your own forum would be even greater if you got it up to the same UX standard as Patreon or Google+. It could get expensive with file sharing though.
Discord feels like a badly executed descendant of mIRC. I'm in eight Discord communities and they all feel a bit off because they're about either music making or colour grading and it's simply not possible to present and discuss or critique each other's work or questions to each other in a way that is organized and allows for day long discussions unless only one person is allowed to be the center of attention each day.
Each user would have to be able to start a new thread for that to be able to happen and then it still would be meh, because you can't add a photo of additional subtext to the name of the thread and the amount of threads would be...well...a lot. It would be overwhelming.
Honestly, later day Google+ was fucking fantastic for this kind of thing! It's such a shame they pulled the plug.
Telegram is something to look into. You can develop your channel and have more than 20,000 members in super groups. It's basically a combination of what you're currently using discord for (community building and comms between all) and UA-cam to upload your content on your own channel.
What I'm finding is most of my favourite channels, the creator is burning out. They've stopped making videos very much. Not surprising really, as they're mostly one-person channels.
It’s so hard to find trustworthy product information, on UA-cam. Everyone has “sold out” to product manufacturers. It’s full of biased adverts masquerading as reviews. I’m sick of it. PDP is the exception. they have maintained trust and integrity for me.
Thanks so much Mike!
I will sign up to your Patreon., despite being older than your demographic.
Thanks Peter!
I'm 38 I went on discord for about a day, found the whole thing really alien and haven't used it since. I'd rather be spending my time learning how to use music software than learning how to communicate in 👽
PS we need more Mark shorts 😂 WTF is a sub Reddit. I'd love to hear Mark doing a chas & Dave "Reddit" cover
High guys, good evening.
Mark is right about the youtube adv stuff, i've been a payed yt premium member since it came out and recently getting embedded add's too. I hate that too. James before you got me into discord, i never used it before, i'm only on discord solely fot the PDP channel. A fusion of yt, discord and facebook would be ideal, easy to livestream, chat and sharing files. All in one was like Facebook in the beginning before all the restrictions took place like file length above 50MB for example. I would love to follow to patreon if you should decide you move to. But don't you think that Patreon will change into like "youtube" when they want a piece of the cake in the future? These days everything involves making money.
Hey I love what you put on UA-cam. Thank you!!! Speaking of that how about a review of the new ARC Studio box. Is it better than nothing for us who have moderately priced monitors and have put in some effort at room correction?
Realy nice stream guys, keep it going :-)
meow. I'll tech you how to discord mark! :D and Sam, what do you say about Finneas Eilish as a bedroom producer? The biggest issue with the general content on youtube about producing music is weeding through the trash to find the good info.
'The issue I have with UA-cam, is how UA-cam moderates the comments compared to the actual videos. ESPECIALLY the adverts
Ive seen sooo many adverts that if you posted them as comments would get you banned....
I'm older than your typical demographic, guys. And I'll admit I don't know what Discord is, mainly because I spend too much time on social media already, and don't want to add another distraction!
LTT removes even embedded ads in their Floatplane videos I believe
Also: your diehard audience is the only group making if 37 minutes into this post/episode/podcasty words with ppl hand talking
Real World are already doing this, they have a mix with masters thing going on with Ken Scott and others this summer, I got an email notification, I’ll find the link but these things always do well…like these guitar experiences in Italy, they always sell out…some people have money
Come one people, use an ad blocker.
UA-cam blocks ad blockers .. and they won't stop you from seeing ads embedded in the video itself , by the channel.
How iconic! You just mentioned that you turned in video ads off, yet I got one anyways…😂💀
Absolutely no idea how, they’re disabled by default on our channel 👀
Discord is crap .... Its just reall-time chat with no content other than people jabbering. Of course , those *addicted* are talking about what they had for lunch and how they feel that day.. and that's it..
It’s definitely a zombie, but unfortunately it’s already feasted on all our brains.
I use Patreon to watch free content. And if too many of my subscriptions start using embedded advertising, I will discontinue my UA-cam premium account, which shall leave me spare cash for paid Patreon channels.
Where for out thou?
Hello! James here. I have been ill for the last 2 days and so in order to save your ears from my incessant coughing, we’re holding off until next week. Have a nice evening!
@@PresentDayProduction Get well soon Auntie Jazz.
I note you didn't mention Onlyfans.. Was that deliberately missed out of the discussion?
yes
hmmm...I HAD a coment..weird
No.
Who's on first?
Yeah, what’s his name?
Reddit is awful, way worse than Discord
My religion does not permit me to watch advertising. Every 3% of your life that you spend watching advertising means that in an average lifespan you spent a whole year of your life watching advertising. Fuk that.
I would see a doctor about that 33 1/3 year life span of yours..
@@natdenchfield8061 6 hours a day on media, 3% advertising = 10 minutes. 70 years = 25550days = 255500 minutes = 177 days = 1/2 a year. twiddle the numbers to taste with sleep etc.
Discord is a clusterfuck. (Male 29) 🤣
