@@lapiswolf2780 I like then hexonia has unique units for each tribe, except for the fact you need to pay for the unique units, I still prefer polytopia
Actually i think the idea for unique super units is good. It could make weaker tribes like vengir and hoodrick more playable if they make some super units stronger than others
I just think that Polytopia feels so much more fleshed out, balanced and interesting. Hexonia has definitely got some uniqueness to it, but it’s obvious that the devs took so much from Polytopia and THEN thought “hmm, what can we do to make this different?”
I used to play Hexonia before I knew about Polytopia. I actually ended up bringing my battle strategy into the game from the start since I already developed it in Hexonia, including *link every city with road*. I didn't need to learn as much about how the game worked since I already knew the situation from before the start.
Love the video: but three things 1. The giant units change are just cosmetic they are the same as other tribes 2. Every tribe has its unique unity (cavalry for russians for example, legionary for romans, chakram for indians etc) 3. This game is pay to win, that's the biggest problem I have with it Sorry english isn't my native language
(Me heading into the video): I haven't heard of this game before, but perhaps it might not be a total rip-off? Like, Polytopia plays pretty similar to early Sid Meier's Civilization games, but simplified, maybe this "Hexonia" is just another of that kind? (A tech tree, ancient ruin, battleship and knight later): nvm yup this just Polytopia with +2 sides per tile ok then
Yeah. Polytopia is Civilisation Lite, I can respect that. There could definitely be space for more than one like that, but this game just completely rips off Polytopia's gameplay.
You know, YT accepts 1080x1920 videos, as well as other vertical video formats? For someone who has 16:10 and 3:2 monitors, sees black bars on every side because this is a 16:9 video with black bars.
Is it just me or just playing hexonia idk makes me feel bored slowly to the point I am too bored and lazy to do anything? Doesn't feel as good as polytopia
I personally don't think that Hexonia is a complete ripoff of Polytopia. Sure, it is clearly inspired by Polytopia and a lot of the gameplay is the same, but I think it has enough unique features to set it apart. Hexonia prevents most units from upgrading into battleships and has dedicated bomber and admiral units if you want strong navy units. I feel like this is a good thing and puts more dynamics into naval combat rather than just spamming battleships which is boring. Plus you can't just turn your guardian (super unit) into a battleship, which nullifies a lot of the giant's weaknesses in Polytopia. Hexonia also makes every tribe more unique, with two unique guardians per tribe and one unique normal unit too. Plus all the tribes start with a second unit that hasn't been researched yet, in addition to the starting tech each tribe gets which is the same as in Polytopia. The differences between tribe are much more than in Polytopia where apart from the unique tribes and a few normal tribes, most tribes have no real differences other than the starting tech and the rates at which resources spawn on their territory. Unfortunately, the 2nd unique guardian and unique normal unit are sold separately from the actual tribes and are paid features even on the 3 free tribes. Which is a complete cash grab and makes the game a little pay2win. The downsides are that Hexonia can only be played in portrait and has no multiplayer mode. Considering the game has been out for 3 years already, it seems that the devs aren't interested in adding multiplayer at all, which is unfortunate. Either that or they want to add multiplayer but just can't figure out how to balance all their tribes, which is harder than in Polytopia as they are all more unique. I personally play and enjoy both games, and think that Hexonia is more fun if you only plan to play singleplayer due to each tribe being more unique and naval combat being more fleshed out. But if you want to play multiplayer or in landscape mode, or don't want to pay for tribes twice to gain access to both the tribe and all their unique units, Polytopia is the way to go. It would also be great if Polytopia learned a few things from Hexonia. After all, inspiration / copying doesn't have to only go one way. The Polytopia devs could add Hexonia's naval mechanics and force players to get a unique naval unit if they want battleships, and make the super unit for every tribe unique rather than all normal tribes just having a boring giant. It would be awesome to, for example, see that unit from the 2021 Bardur tribe moon art in game, replacing their giant. Polytopia wouldn't even have to give Hexonia any credit for the ideas, after all Hexonia gave Polytopia none. Karma. By the way, there is another game called Hexapolis which is a true ripoff of both Polytopia and Hexonia. They have lootboxes and microtransactions everywhere. Plus they don't even have random map generation and instead have set singleplayer levels which you complete by destroying all the opponents. (Gameplay is fundamentally still very similar to Polytopia and Hexonia.) By completing levels, you gain a reward in in-game currency which you can use to level up your units and make them stronger. Are your units still weaker than the AI units? Pay real money to get more in-game currency and level up your units even more. As well as levelling up your units, you find units in the lootboxes and merge units to create rarer units. You have common, uncommon, rare, epic units etc. with each rarity making them much stronger. After you play for a while there is a massive paywall where the AI suddenly becomes much harder to beat and it's really hard to progress any further unless you pay. Oh, and their graphics are just plain ugly. Play Hexapolis for an hour and suddenly Hexonia won't look so bad lmao.
Why can't you accept the fact that Hexonia is the better version of Polytopia? Do you get paid to shit on Hexonia? Because I've played both the games and Hexonia is way better! Polytopia is just square.. And there is no thinking out of the box... (Pun intended 😂😂) And just because one came first doesnt mean it's better... Anyways...
