    Hi Vic and Jo, we visited you a while ago now when you were at Atherton (I think it was). Bob Butcher one of your subscribers is right, such gentle videos. Both of you are gentle in nature too. We are the full on Aussie couple that interrupted your conversation with another couple and gave you both a shock by our brash approach. I’m just taking this opportunity to apologise for our rudeness and brashness. We love your videos, soothing for the soul, thank you for taking the time to post them. May God bless you all abundantly. Staffordshire born, living in Australia, This episode made my year !! Our family of 4 sons all loved oatcakes often with different cheeses bought from weekly Market in Stafford town centre. Cheese was all farm made and oatcakes were made fresh twice a week , sold by the dozen. 1950's upbringing. Thank you so much

    Please sir - The stern gland IS supposed to drip "a bit" - you control how much 'a bit' is acceptable, but there always will be some water, which you can remove by catching the drups in a can or dish or sponge. I have found over the years that modern nappies (unused) are very effective in absorbing any loose leakage and keep your bilge dry....

    • @MsLisa8989
      @MsLisa8989 2 роки тому

      Yep we carry nappies and a hand "grabber" for sodden nappy retrieval

      I don't think you should keep tightening it, we've got basically the same gland and greaser on our 42yo westerly, at one point I had bubbles in the greaser feed tube and really had to push alot of grease down it to properly fill the gland

    Get William some tights! :) My son was the same at that age and I found these cute little merino wool tights in all sorts of funky patterns and he didn't seem to mind wearing them as they just felt like a baby grow (which he was used to) probably! :)

      Sadly you can’t swim in the UK canals. No matter how tempting they look.
      Unlike a river,there is not a continuous flow of fresh water and due to that lack of flow a nasty bacterial disease called leptospirosis (or Weil’s Disease) can be contracted by humans (amongst other things).
      It’s caused by ...... it’s nasty, I’ll let you look it up for yourself. 😳
      However, Victor is obviously a fan of “wild swimming” and in the UK they provide/publish a list of rivers etc where the water quality is better and it’s safe for people to swim.
      I’m sure that by next summer you will see William taking his first river swim with Mum and Dad 🙂.
      P.s I’m not a germaphobe, but after reading about the canal water quality and the accumulated animal waste within it - even if you couldn’t catch any diseases.... I wouldn’t want to swim in it - and I absolutely love swimming, especially wild swimming ❤

    Love your Vlogs. I spent many hours in Stone. All BT engineers of my age (I’m 70) has spent many a week in Stone, actually. BT had it’s Technical Training College, Stone, in Yarnfield up the road. Everything there was BT, the soap, toilet paper, bedding. Beer, entertainment and food was all BT. It was good to get away. Down to the local pubs for something different. The Star Inn by the lock was one we frequented regularly, every room there was at a different level.

    You were talking about William being introduced to several different counties and foods reminds me of being a military brat. When your parent is in the military you move, sometimes a lot. The one good thing was that it gave me a bigger picture of the world, so I grew up knowing people from all nationalities, I got to taste their foods and even culture. When were stationed in New Jersey I have a friend who mother was Filipino so I learned all of the food and dances. Having several different schools was hard but you get used to it, otherwise I loved moving around. It was an experience that gave me a view of the world most people miss out on

      My father was a construction engineer who moved around the world following the work. At the age of five mum, sister and I joined him in The Gold Coast (Ghana) for eighteen months of his contract, it ten days sailing time from UK. We returned on a four prop BOAC plane from Accra stopping to refuel in Tripoli and Rome, landing at Heathrow 1952. We then moved around the UK from project to project and I followed in dads' footsteps and have worked in 20 different countries and holidayed in a lot more. Now retired in Vietnam with a ton of memories and worn-out passports. I concur whole heartily with your last sentence. Thanks for reminding me.

    Jo, listening to you talking about William eating the oat cakes and his memories etcetera. I remember having a similar moment when my daughter was little. She was born on the other side of Australia from where I grew up.
    It was a very weird feeling and I eventually moved us back over to where I grew up because I wanted that to be her “place” too, her memories.
    Listening to you talking about this as it relates to William really took me back. Yes, it is weird ❤

    Oatcakes.... Do not remind me. After a big build up we arrived with hosts (in a town I will not mention). I chose an egg and bacon. It came with more shell than egg and the almost raw bacon still had a piece of polythene attached. Needless to say it ended in the bin. Still recall that day in 2004 .... Bob (Weston super Mare)

    Your William may not like shoes, but he has a lovely smile he is obviously a comibnation of Jo and Vic but I think it's more of Jo's lovely smile. Glad you got the power sorted, you really have to have a good think about the connection pattern, but a good voltmeter is always good to have to check your work. I use to do boat repairs a while ago and one of the best idea's that i came across was putting something like an Ice cream tub or a small bucket with a handle on it. Small enough to remove without spilling the water. This keeps the rear trianular water bulkhead clean and dry . You can even tie a small piece of string to the handle so you dont even have to go down in the gresy area.

    14:10 connecting +ve to -ve works because all you’re doing is adding two 3 cell batteries together. Each of those cells are connected in series (+ve to -ve anyway).
    BTY I’m surprised you didn’t take the opportunity to switch to lithium. It means more outlay but pays off in the long run. Longer life, more usable energy etc.

    • @simonyapp
      @simonyapp 2 роки тому +2

      I was going to ask the same, but I looked at it, prob £2000+ for lithium and you might then need (should get) a good MPPT charge controller like the ones from Victron Energy and a battery temp sensor so it can top £3000. Nice one on making your own leads. V neat! Take care and whatever you do, don’t let them go flat.

    William is so darn cute; the shoes didn't last very long! Maybe make putting them on a game...could work. Glad the batteries work; great job, Vick!
    Have a wonderful weekend,
