This video is so refreshing. It feels good to see other UX designer who has interests (like fashion, music, etc.) outside of work/the norm. Motivated to get back on track. I was recently turned down from my first UX job opportunity and felt like giving up. Looking at ways to gain more experience and be more competitive.
Can I just say, THANK YOU for creating this! We have a similar background - I have a Health Science degree and always thought I'd end up on a pre-med track...but also I'm a very creative individual (I'm a painter) and always felt like I was neglecting that part of me going on that path. UX just seems to be the perfect fit, I'm at the beginning stages of studying but this has given me a lot of confidence in the decision I made. You are awesome!
I can only self-teach myself. I can’t afford to get a masters degree or the boot camp (they’re the similar in price in the UK) I’d have to sell all my organs to join a boot camp 😂
@@GretaLunaPriego I love your videos on UX! Do you have any tips on how to network in the industry? Like how to reach out to people and all that, thanks :)
Really helpful. I’ve been wondering about UX design since I’ve been a marketer and love designing. I was intrigued when you said a lot of people transition to this career from something else. I will continue researching. Thanks,
Super helpful, thanks :) I also studied Psychology, and after working a couple years in a small NGO here in New Zealand, I’m thinking UX could be the way to go. Missing the creative side of things and would love a career where I have the option to work remotely!
thanks for sharing your story! i'm a career-transitioner and am planning to share my self-taught journey into UX as well. i do love hearing how other people get into design because of the many different paths people take to get there :)
This video was great! Thanks for making it. One question, outside of the classes. How should you gain more knowledge? Books? Staying up to date on research/ latest news?
Hi Bria! Thanks for your comment :) Great question! I love staying up to date through LinkedIn-- I connected with a few UX and Product Designers, and they often post interesting articles they've read! I also love Medium.com-- they have a bunch of amazing articles written by UX Designers, Researchers, Product Designers, etc. I try to read one a day if I can. I'm also currently reading "The Design of Everyday Things" by Don Norman-- he's a pioneer in the world of ux design! There's also lots of great UX Design podcasts that are awesome to listen to!
Omg I just downloaded meetup and I think that's the best piece of advice that I've gotten so far from a 'How to start in UX' video. I'm so excited!! Thank you so so much Greta!!!
I just applied for a UX design career program through google that lasts six months. You really got me excited about the job...I really liked your video and thought the glasses and dress were cute. Can you do a video about salary someday?
Hi Greta! Found your youtube channel and I have been watching your videos non stop since yesterday 😂 this video was super helpful as I am also considering pursuing UX Design. I was wondering, is UI Design included in UX Design bootcamps? Do these two ( UX/UI ) always go together?
Some boot camps teach both together at one cost and some spilt the class up as two. Try looking up ux jobs in your area to see what their requirements. Because some jobs will hire just a ux designer, some just a ui designer, majority ux/ui. In my opinion is good to learn both if you find a program that teaches both under one class. But if you’re more visual designer…study ui. Vice versa
All I've heard on forums and discussion sites in the last 2 years is that UX design is oversaturated at the junior level because of the secondary education market and it's ludicrously successful marketing campaign which made entry into UX seem like an easy and low-investment path for those who couldn't find work in their intended field or were unsatisfied with their current careers. I fall into the second category, but I'm really wary of the current job market and it's turning me off to the idea of pursuing this field at all.
It is super tough. Industrial design is often a field some major in if they want to get into product or ux design. I'd recommend to network and update your portfolio :)
I, like others, definitely can’t afford grad school or a boot camp right now. Does anyone know of any more affordable courses or boot camps that aren’t so pricey?
Can I ask what job you had before UX? I’m really worried because I’m in college right now also for a language major but settled on this career path. The thing is I not only have no related work experience but literally none to begin with which worries me because I’m sure most people transition from at least something..
I hear you, I actually went abroad to teach English in France after I graduated. It gave me a chance to reflect on what I wanted to do. You really do not have to have something related to UX, it's hard, but it's possible to switch! I'd recommend trying out a bootcamp if you feel it's right for you.
This is so helpful!! I have a question though. So I want to also get a degree in psychology. To then work my way up to becoming a psychiatrist. The Thing is if it all backfires I want to know If I can use my degree in psychology to become a ux designer?
This is a great video! hi, my name is Samuel from Nigeria. I've been researching the UX field for a while now. There are really not many people in this field in Nigeria. I just want to know if you're open to questions on E-mails.
Lmao I love your intro music. That’s the most unique thing I’ve seen when stumbling across these UX videos
Ahaha. I'm glad you appreciate it-- was geeking out while editing

Greta, thank you!!! I was looking into UX for the exact same reason you said - combining my analytical + creative sides. Thank you for this video! 💕💕💕
I am so glad you liked it!! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, I would love to help you navigate the UX world!

Uf I feel you. It is still very expensive. It can still be done through teaching yourself-- highly recommend to network a lot!

Wow, you sound like me. Was in a premed program, but after i graduated didn't pursue and now I'm trying to feed my creative side by going into Ui/Ux
hahaha yep, it's a huge career switch! Glad you are exploring UX :)

Hey Heather, Please could share with me the particular program you applied to?
This is a great question-- definitely a video I can make!
You're the most beautiful woman that I've ever seen on UA-cam. You're way too gorgeous to talk about UX design. And the glass matches your face.
Thanks for the video!!!! This is so helpful. Especially being from ATL myself. New grad 😄😊
Ah!! Congratulations, so exciting! So glad this helped you out a bit :)
girl I am so excited to find a Latina in UX ❤️ thanks for posting!
Lol, the first 50 seconds of the video was so interesting, it was so entertaining. Can I know the song, please? It was very seamless.
hahaha thanks so much!! It's called Curve Ball by Xavy Rusan
thank you for your knowledge!
Excellent production!
