Brings back great memories as a babe in Christ, deployed to Iraq for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I listened to this song every single day while on deployment and it brought me great comfort. Thanks for the post.
Oh, my God! God bless strengthen the brethren please, in these dark days it seems nobody cares about nothing. God help the generation after the forceful one now ruling.
Back in October of 1996, while going through a time of depression, isolation and tremendous despair, I poured out my soul to Jesus. I was completely empty. This was one of the first songs the Lord let me hear that began restoration to my soul and a heart that became filled with overflowing joy. I have never been the same. Thank you Larnelle for allowing the Lord to use your great talent. You are special. See you in glory.
❤ Carlos, I was happy to see that you chose to do this song!!! I remember when asked for requests... this was my suggestion! It took me several years to finally get to hear it again, Thank-you so much!!! Shabbat Shalom Shalom and blessings!
Ah, the pouring out of the soul, and then the restoration from above. Yes, this song by Larnelle was one of the instruments God used to bring me back. I'll never be the same.
This entire album is soooo amazing!!! I was a senior in High School when this album came out and my wonderful family introduced me to it. What a journey the Lord and I have followed since I heard this album for the first time. I hope someone else remembers. I was so young then and now I am not young anymore at all. What an album to come out when I was a great singer in my high school choir and to be a Christian. Music helps make my faith stronger very day! PTL
I found this song on UA-cam a year ago and listened to it a hundred times, then it was pulled off and I cannot find it anywhere! I got on tonight to find it again and this is such a blessing!!!
Me too Paul! I just wrote your name in my prayer journal and I will be praying for you. Dear LORD. You said you would be with us always even until the end of the world. You did say in this world we would have trouble, but to cheer up, for you have overcome the world. Right now, Paul feels like he is in the wilderness. I ask that he and all of us who are going through, experience your presence and peace along with Paul as he goes through because you are with him(us).
Woke up with this song in my head. I've definitely been in the desert of my days for the last few years. Don't really see any hope of the land of Milk and Honey anytime soon, either. :/
I often forget the name of this song, and searching the lyrics don't work. I'm going to put the lyrics in the comments so whenever someone searches they lyrics, the algorithm will pick up on my comment and this video will be easier to find! In the desert of my days There came no cooling rain And the burning sun stalked me without mercy And I cried out at the time "I must be paying for some crime" And in my loneliness it seemed nobody heard me And the days were weeks The weeks were months The months seemed years In the dust and the sand A thirsty man battles fear Praying help would appear In the desert of my years There fell no rain, only tears As I struggled on with hope alone to cling to The rugged hills all looked the same Across the endless dry terrain And to the silent skies, I cried, "my God, where are You?" And the days were weeks The weeks were months The months seemed years In the dust and sand A thirsty man battles fear Praying help would appear And then He came to me In a cool and gentle breeze And in a healing rain I heard Him say, "I love you" I've been here, My child Every weary mile Oh, there must have been times When it seemed like I've forgotten you And I've led you through The barren desert to The land of milk and honey Now before you Yes, I've led you through The barren desert to The land of milk and honey The land of milk and honey The land of milk and honey Now before you
Praising God is our strength glory to God in the highest

God! Larnelle Harris, you are excellent. Didn't know this theatrical, soulful singing side to you. Bless you.

In the desert of my days
There came no cooling rain
And the burning sun stalked me without mercy
And I cried out at the time
"I must be paying for some crime"
And in my loneliness it seemed nobody heard me
And the days were weeks
The weeks were months
The months seemed years
In the dust and the sand
A thirsty man battles fear
Praying help would appear
In the desert of my years
There fell no rain, only tears
As I struggled on with hope alone to cling to
The rugged hills all looked the same
Across the endless dry terrain
And to the silent skies, I cried, "my God, where are You?"
And the days were weeks
The weeks were months
The months seemed years
In the dust and sand
A thirsty man battles fear
Praying help would appear
And then He came to me
In a cool and gentle breeze
And in a healing rain
I heard Him say, "I love you"
I've been here, My child
Every weary mile
Oh, there must have been times
When it seemed like I've forgotten you
And I've led you through
The barren desert to
The land of milk and honey
Now before you
Yes, I've led you through
The barren desert to
The land of milk and honey
The land of milk and honey
The land of milk and honey
Now before you
