He was a few times a year, unfortunately as consistent as Martial. Arguably more talented than Ronaldo as he was brilliant with both feet but just couldn’t find form on a weekly basis
Young Rooney was such an instinctive footballer, it came so naturally to him. He definately quickly evolved into Englands most complete footballer of all time.
1:49 might be the best goal on here honestly. To finish with that precision and that quickly from such a bad angle and odd shooting position is genius. Not many people would even attempt a first time finish there
He was more of a centre forward, he would always drop back to make plays, his passing was unreal. Arguably better than KDB now. I know ur gonna get triggered City fans I'm not saying KDB is bad since he's one of the best midfielders in the world right now. Wayne Rooney's is the most complete player in the world. He's 1. Great at scoring with creativity, he'll find a way to put the ball behind the net. 2. He's lob passes are so accurate, he assisted many goals too. 3. He's a well-rounded player. He can be in the defensive line.. taking over the centre midfield, and in a blink of an eye, he's in the penalty box of the opponent. 4. He is not afraid to shoot from behind the centre line. 5. One of the most unselfish players ever existed. He'll pass the ball as long as his teammates will convert to goal. Unfortunately, he played in an era where people only see Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. What an underrated player. He's more complete than both of them.

And his prime was sadly undermined by a SAF-less United and an England side who had some really poor years. He captained two sub-par teams through his entire prime. Couldnt win much with them unfortunately.

Goal number 7 from rooney against Milan has always left a very deep impression in me. That goal is really not easy as it look. The context of the goal is Milan was the strongest team in that year, Manu hadnt had alot of Clear cut chances that night, that goal scored in the last few minutes before full time. The technical difficulty was , the ball was passed to the right side of rooney. His body angle is not favourable to get give good strike onto the ball. Rooney is as good as 'half back facing the goal post'. But rooney did not take a 2nd touch to the pass, he strike the ball in his 1st touch, and the ball travel LOW and SO FAST that it beats Dida on THE NEAR POST from a strike OUTSIDE the box. That is why the goal was so memorable to me.
From goal 16 - 20 this was the time when wazza was at his very best. 2010 was definitely his best season but it was such an unlucky season for us. Produced great performances but came short. Young Rooney was something else for sure but around this time he was on a whole another level. It’s a shame he got injured later on, really halted his momentum. Nani really upped up his game during this time aswell and i really thought he was gonna prevail to fill the void of ronaldo, he was brilliant. My favourite utd player 🙌🏾
I remember this game like it was yesterday against Fenerbache , I just started my second year at college and watched this game on ITV after . I was so amazed by this kid, he had so much natural talent at the time, belief ,strength , determination and aggression. I said it at the time , hes like a regen Gazza but could play across the front three of any team . There's not any players that have all that these days at such a young age.
