I loved everything I saw. The French flag on the ship in the stained glass was not lost on me. The footwear in the mall...😍😍😍 I love my fish fried dry and crispy, so that whole layout with the rice and the onions had me drooling. Thank you for sharing your travels with us.❤ Happy Anniversary, my Loves!!! 💕🎊🎉💖It is a year-long celebration that ends when the next one comes around. 😉
We dont get offended, only frustrated cause the communication is a bit complicated, especially for those who didnt have a higher education. Also, even if you learn french, you will find that the proper french aint widely spoken, but instead, they speak "nouchi" which is the sland of Ivory Coast. First time on your channel, so Hi to you both. Pinapple juice = jus d'ananas (dont pronounce the S) I dont know when y'all going back but ill be there next year in august. If y'all wanna come then, ill be glad to show you some more places and help with your french lol
Based on what i have experience, these are few reasons why some people seem offended when a foreigner doesn't speak french in ivory coast. Nearly 99% of Ivorian speak their native tongues among the 60 different ethnic groups. The colonizer asked them to speak french to be able to study and communicate between themselves. In secondary school starting grade 6 onward, they all study english. So you have 3 types of behaviors in Ivory coast when you don't speak french. The first category of people are sometimes less educated, they will dismiss you completely, because you remind them of their failure in school. The second category are a bit educated, but they will ask you to make an afford to meet them in the middle by speaking a bit of french, the same way they have also tried to learn that foreign language to communicate. The last category will be impressed and will try to learn and practice. Some Americans consider English as their native language, and think only french is a colonizer language. But for Ivorians, both English and French are colonizers languages.
Thanks for that! Black Americans as myself believe French, English,Spanish etc are ALL colonizer languages. I don’t care for any of them to be honest. I wish i heard more Ivorians speaking their native languages. I would love to learn that. But we’ll try our best French next time.
@@westafricanbackpackers in that regard Ghanaian at least kept Twi as a common language beside English. In Ivory coast it is only french as the official language.
