- What a neat old school radio! Although it's in rough shape, it still works! Pretty cool for a Kraco. A name that was NOT known for reliability or high quality back in the late 80's.

Holy Cow!
Have not head of Kraco or Sparkomatic car parts-audio in years.
It is an oldie for sure. The name could have been getter
In the 1980's I often only seen KRACO radio CB's in the auto parts stores.
Some were saying that they could find them in KMart as well.
@@FarpointFarms yes. I forgot the KRACO radio CB were sold at Kmart also.
I am sitting in my car now and a seagull🕊 just flew into my 9' foot CB steel whip antenna 2 minutes ago !
Dam! A lot of damage?
@@rudolphguarnacci197the CB antenna is not damaged and the seagull appears not to be damaged. It flew into the CB antenna while my car was parked on a grocery store parking lot. I live near the ocean coast of Washington State.
I got a tire plugged the other day so I pulled the 9’ whip off the top of my headache rack so they could fit it in the overhead door. Forgot to put it back on when I left. Drove half an hour on the interstate and highway back home. It was still sitting on the flatbed when I got there.
9’ whips are magic sometimes.
Poor Seagull, the antenna is way tougher.

Datz whack
Kraco, theres a blast from the past!!
Yes indeed.
It was good meeting you at the Raleigh Ham Fest several weeks ago.
Thank you, I am always happy to meet a fan.
Kraco and Sparkomatic were the “Highpoint weapon” so to say in the CB market. They worked ok, some of them used the same circuit boards as Midlands. Not as many bells and whistles. Mostly sold in department stores, auto parts stores, etc. Similar to the Western Auto Trutone brands, and Sears which were a variant of Cobra in the 1970’s to 80’s.
I think they were OK for the money- no frills
I remember seeing Kraco and Sparkomatic car stereos and CBs at KMart and in auto parts stores. They had a reputation as being on the low end. This is a cool little radio and glad to see it still works. It would be cool to see what it can really do.
I agree with them being on the low end, this one is a survivor
I saw a KRACO radios for sale in the box a couple of years ago,at a store called "Big Lots". Should have bought it.
buy it ! When you buy or sell those old Kraco CB radios you are not just buying or selling a CB radio..... You are buying & selling memories. ✅
@@unitedstatesirie7431 Too late, for me
I am impressed that Big Lots had one. Then again, you never know what you might get there.
@@FarpointFarms BigLots store "is like a box of chocolates"👍
Midland made one, and I found some N.O.S. original sealed boxes. Opened one and found the radio still in factory sealed packaging. Hooked it up and Wow. 7.3 watts out and great reception on a Little Will Mobile antenna. Everything works. Love this one hander, Have 2 more packed away. Mdl# 77-225A, steel cased made in Korea.
I am impressed and a bit jealous that you were able to fine one still sealed in the box. That is a great find
One time I saw a Midland at a yard sale for 5 dollars but I was missing the antenna plug but it's amazing the led number are still functional because they do take a lot bumps on his time of use.
Most are built to take a beating, it is to be expected in a vehicle.
Yes, them one handers are really cool for sure. I have a Panasonic rj-3450 never used in the box.
I had to look that one up as I was not familiar with it- it looks like a nice little radio
wow i remember this and the AUDIOVOX version.
You have a good memory-
The Radioddity CS-47 is an excellent new 1 hander. Works great. It's like $90. Can do all the mods for channels, wattage, and audio.
The modern version of it
Esse é um radio fantastico, os engenheiros tinham mais liberdade de criação nessa epoca. Like 👍
Agreed. The ability to try new things is something modern companies never do.
When the consumer products division of Altec Lansing went out of business in the mid 1980's, Spark-O-Matic bought the rights to the Altec name. I actually never knew they made a CB radio but back in the day, I had Spark-O-Matic 6x9 coax speakers in my car.
Anyway, Spark-O-Matic became Altec Lansing and I believe still makes little bluetooth speakers today. Kinda sad really, Altec Lansing was once a great name in audio with the majority of commercial cinema's having Altec, "Voice of the Theater" speakers behind the screen.
I did not know that they made speakers as well.
President Radio soon to release a new 10 meter cb radio called the President George 80 watts. Looks like the George FCC On my wish list. Seen it on Bells Cb
I will have to keep my eyes out for that one
I found my dad's old big blue tube Regency. Not sure if it works but I need to clean it up.
I think that would be fun to clean it up and get it working.
Wow I forgot about sparkomatic and kraco. There was only one place in my area that had them. I know many of the kids had the 12 volt 100 watt amp/eq in their vehicles with some 6x9 speakers in the back. LOL I was trying to sell a uniden grant that was nos because there was no place to mount it in my car. A guy was interested in it but he wanted to trade a craig cb like what you are showing. I talked to the guy I deal with for my CB stuff and he said that the Craig's were not good and to stay away from it, plus he said the grant was worth way more. I didn't trade. Now they have so many micro radios that seem to work pretty good. I think you have a AM/FM cobra where everything is in the mic, I wonder how they would pare with a small amp. If they can and they work well that would be a good way to get a radio with a little bit of power into the smallest of vehicles and in the new vehicles you are limited on output power so you can't run enough power to mess with everyone else in the larger surrounding areas.
100w amp, I bet you could hear them from miles and miles away
Hey Erik, check out the new President Jerry FCC AM/FM unit!
I will have to do that-
I had the Sparkomatic one hander in 78.Wasn't that impressed with the unit.Impulse buy you could say. After a couple of weeks I gave it to a friend.
I think most people were not that impressed. But you were a good friend to share it
Of course it works ,it's a sparkomatic😅
That name does not sound of quality
Way way better then tisonic
I am not familiar with that brand- I will have to look it up
Do you have the type of cb that was in the general Lee? Just curious
Cobra 78X🐍
@@randydunaway2590 awesome I was wondering what was in it. Thanks
I don't. I have the one that was in Smokie and the Bandit
@@FarpointFarms well that’s just as cool. This is great stuff thanks.
This stuff is great thanks everyone
