- The world's first routine vaccine programme against malaria has started in Cameroon, in a move projected to save thousands of children's lives across Africa.
The symbolic first jab was given to a baby girl named Daniella at a health facility near Yaoundé on Monday.
Every year 600,000 people die of malaria in Africa, according to the World Health Organization, with children under five making up at least 80% of those deaths.
Cameroon is offering the RTS,S vaccine free of charge to all infants up to the age of six months old.

@@briansmith8490 I would be dead if it weren’t for western medicine. I was exposed to rabies at a young age and as painful as those daily injections were, they saved me. I also survived cholera thanks to modern medicine. I feel like people in the western world take these things for granted, I do not, I celebrate all scientific breakthroughs.

I remember when I was at a primary school after every few months a group of an armed men came to our school and took us forcibly with out any permission of our parents to a local clinic where gave us vaccines.
I recall when they took us one of our classmate fall on the floor after she had a shot hey took her to the back room and we never heard of her anymore when I went to the room there was an old lady which had a American accent sitting on the chair seemed that she was in charge vaccinated me also gave me a tablet with water and told to eat. I was ill and couldn't go school for while. One of a teacher told my mom that they supporting school instead of vaccineed kids if you don’t want keep your child at home.
Still I don't know what were that but a lost a my two younger sister and my brother who was very talented became sick and some had brain damaged which the doctor could not understand what is the cause.
