    instead of mixing sealer you can use the G shade waterbased coat from envirobase. That can save you a lot of time on coverage and save cost of extra coats.

      Exactly what i was going to comment. I normally would get the black and white toner to make a gshade and reduce it 30% with water instead of fighting the sealer halo or fighting for coverage

    Mix up a ground coat of base from the interior deck and use that instead of sealer works wonders for envirobase.

    T490 clear base will help when you need to pile on a transparent base coat. Also I find that G7 sealer is great to help with coverage on these trash blues. Use a slow reducer and throw a bit of blending solvent over the overspray. It may cost you a few minutes. But it can make work life a bit easier in the long run. Also, it’s cheaper than smashing it with base.

    If you use the proper sealer which I believe is G7 you’ll cover with two coats and a control coat.

    I took Gabes recommendation on those microfiber cloths and its been really helpful to cut the waste and improve my quality. Happy to have tried that!

    If you buy the higher end detailing towels yellow ones they don't leave the lint behind even if new. I used those blue ones you have but they leave lint when new so I just use them for buffing

    Instead of mixing sealer you can always mix basecoat shade of gray.
    P.S Envirobase has G1-G7 shade of primer. Most common is just white ECP11 , gray ECP15, dark gray and black ECP17.

    I use microfiber for windows for years. Very soft compared with regular microfiber .To wipe my car after washing. To degrease before painting . They are good for everything.

    Well Gunny you certainly smashed some paint on that one LOL!! that clear went on like glass mate super finish, this .8 of reducer is a bit confusing for me 🤔 is it just a case of 2:1:0.8 so it's 'point' eight of one part but not a percentage like most clears use mate? be nice if you can clarify please 👍
    For me your raw vids can be as long as you want, I would be happy to sit there watching an hour long vid from you Gunny as I learn so much from your raw vids, keep them coming and a huge thanks for doing these Gunny 🤗 John UK.

    • @TheGunmanRAW
      @TheGunmanRAW  2 роки тому

      Yeah that's correct with the ratio. But it's not +.08 like most paint companies, they'd do it something like 2:1+10% and the + is important.

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 2 роки тому

      Ah right ok thanks Gunny, mine is 2:1+5-10% so with yours the .08 is included in the total and not added to the total 🤔🤔 John UK.

    Why do you drop your pressure in-between coats?

  • @mikemetcalfe1526

    use a viscosity guage tester to find optimum amount of clear coat reducer

    • @TheGunmanRAW
      @TheGunmanRAW  2 роки тому +1

      And what would you say optimal time would be for Japanese finish?

    • @mikemetcalfe1526
      @mikemetcalfe1526 2 роки тому

      @@TheGunmanRAW Clear coats have many factors that effect the viscosity. The manufacturer and type of clear, temperature of clear, ratio and mixture of clear and additives (silicon, accelerator) time between activation. Also, air line temp and spray booth temp. So with using these factors the painter will find his "Japanese finish". When achieved he would then use the viscosity tool to know the time measured (how many drips for a sertain time) for the desired finish. so when he mixes for a fresh batch of "Japanese finish" clear coat. He will use the viscosity tool to see if any reducer is needed.
