When someone ask for a Zelda like game on Xbox/Game Pass ReCore is the first game I mention.
The game takes the dungeon of Zelda minus the puzzles with lock-on combat of Metroid Prime and lite Metroidvania world structure, on top of Megaman X dash platforming. Its a platform lovers dream game imo. Considering the people behind the game it isn't much of a surprise.
If you're a story first type of player then this game *might* not be for you. *HOWEVER* this game does lore and world building very well via audio and text logs. Just about every item, major location and enemy have logs. Like this audio log here 3:22 isn't just gibberish but is one of the logs by a Corebot by the name of Violet telling how Victor took over. Its one of those games that rewards you with lore if you explore the world. The story was done by Joseph Staten who seems to use audio logs for storytelling. Some of his work includes Halo ODST and Halo Infinite.
Never played the game on the og Xbox one but have played on an One S and Series S(fps boost) and the game runs flawlessly.
Its not for everyone but its far from terrible. I want a sequel and if given a bigger budget ReCore could be Xbox's Zelda or Horizon.
Highly underrated comment!
Ive had this game for over 2 years, and was planning to go back and finish it. Thank you for reminding me why I stopped playing it.
I remember really wanting it when it first released, I'm glad I didn't get it until it was pretty much a tenth of the original price
Exactly what I was looking for, great video. Just leaving a comment to help the algorithm.
