This young man is already better than 90% of the drummers in the business today. I know, I know…bold statement, but just pay attention to the technique, timing, and power with which he plays. As a drummer myself, I think he is extremely talented. He will have a bright future if he wants it,
When you have drum sets and professional equipment around growing up it is a huge boost to development. Kids learn music and languages better the younger they start. The key is a healthy environment where kids want to explore these things on their own.
He is his father's son. Thank you to the band mate's for bringing him in. Always loved the Foo Fighters. God blessed us with this band and God bless you all and Taylor's family. Taylor is looking down at his Foo Fighter family smiling and thanks them for what they have done for Shane's family! And thank you all for you music and bringing Shane on for the tribute. Love you all!
To the folks that are giving their opinions. First, he is a young kid. He’s fantastic. Second, could you sit in for your father, just six months after losing him, and do what Shane did. I know I couldn’t. Fly Shane, just keep moving. I just know you Dad is smiling. You did him proud.
Some people are just haters. There are a couple of videos on UA-cam of Shane playing drums while his father sang at the Trubadour in 2021. His father called him a badass, so his father is definitely proud of him.
I sure as hell couldn't have done it - 6 months after mine passed (granted I had just turned 10) I was barely functioning let alone playing Wembley stadium or the LA Forum, God knows I spent enough of that night in Wembley in tears & I wasn't in his shoes!
@@BobSmith-rf3ph I’m so sorry you lost your father at such a young age Bob. I always believe our parents are with us on this side until we meet again on the other side. I’m sure he was watching you type your reply. He knew you understood.
@@erikasmith8894 everybody want that. But i guess the foo will take a long break. I think if they decided to go on is with Shane...is the only one who can be, heal, and play with them...love ya !
Yesss!!! I fall in love with that kid on the moment he sit in his dad's kit. What a brave, inteligent, sweet boy. Taylor and Alison did a great job. I imagibe Taylor saying to Dave...well buddy look what a tresure i have...now is yours...we love you T!!! ❤
True! Protect him at all costs! Hire him a bodyguard for school! And a tutor! And a chef cause I wanna feed him my famous soul food. He’ll need the energy… 😂
Insanely talented just like his old man. Moves exactly like him behind that kit too. Sticks right behind the head as he smashes the shit out the thing ! The Hawkins groove lives !
They are some videos of him on UA-cam playing his little drum behind his father during the live concert, he was maybe six,and there is the song MIDDLE CHILD that Taylor wrote for his daughter , in the video the entire family is doing things, but Shane is on the drums. It's beautiful song, he was calling his middle child,"mini me"
I can’t believe people are criticizing this kid. Sure, he’s not perfect, but the guys are quite capable of playing through his mistakes. Clearly, Shane idolizes his dad and wants to be like him, right down to the ripped shirt. So they made sure he had his moment to shine. And that’s the best tribute to Taylor they ever could have done.
Someone commented on him needing to learn to keep the tempo. Just a small, thoughtless comment, but he poured his heart out on his dads drum kit and who cares if the tempo was a little off.
Imagine if this kid decides to dedicate himself to the drums. His dad said in interviews he didn’t care but was insanely talented. He is a mix of his dad and Grohl on the drums in my opinion...
@@mr2d2 he has that physical beat the shit out of it style like Dave with all the same facial expressions and licks as his dad! I’m telling you it decides to go all in on the drums he could be an all time great!
Mind blown again!!! Shane, you are your father’s son…awesome talent and it’s only the beginning!! Holy cow, Taylor must be flipping out…fricking awesome 😎
Actually, i think whats "wrong" with the audience is they all loved Taylor Hawkins, and weren't there so much for entertainment. Most of them are probably in tears. Do you think Dave Grohl's voice is up to his standard in this? This is a tribute; a memorial. Yeah its a concert; but a mix of sadness and celebration of a great talent
Tempo fluctuations are way cooler than rigid robotic drums lined up to a grid with a click track. He does need to work on keeping time with the hihat when everything else drops out though. It's weird how much he struggles with that compared to how good he sounds the rest of the time.

Uncle pat's reaction and appreciation is just the best. The kid is gonna go far

The amount of love those 5 uncles have for that boy is palpable! I can still feel it all the way in Boston all this time later. ❤❤

SHANE MAKING DAD PROUD, JUST LIKE HIS DADDY💗💗🤘🤘🔥🔥
Shane is a little legend and a tribute to his father so talented.
His feel is so much like his dad, my favorite drummer.
Watching him drum like this and not recorded is totally like his Dad. I've never seen his Son drum before Wembley. Brilliant

So did I, but that was the end of a long, long show and weeks of rehearsals..Dave needs to take a break and rest …he’s been a busy guy
