- It feels great to come to the realization that a series with such a long history and high standards for music has actually reach an all new standard of greatness. Ascension aka Bahamut Theme from Final Fantasy 16 represents this new standard and it's definitely one of the best tracks in all of Final Fantasy music.

Man, these Eikon fight themes are something else. Have you seen the video I did on Ifrit vs Phoenix? It's over here: ua-cam.com/video/hkn8FvqLmhU/v-deo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB
If you haven't already the OSTs for the messenger and for shovel knight are really good and underrated
More Final Fantasy 16 😲👍
I knew you were going to have fun with this one. This song is attached to arguably the most visually impressive boss fight in all of gaming. No doubt this song plays a part in that impressiveness.
Wow wow there buddy. It s ok but Stick man fight is pretty up there.
A game composer being blown away by the newest Final Fantasy masterpiece track? Dion only deserves the best. ❤
The Bahamut fight in game was absolutely insane, and went forever. So epic, for sure.
yes after every part I was like "you are still alive ?!"
@@zeropoint2594 yeah me too. He just would not die. 😅
Agree best fight by far followed by odin in my opinion of course
10:38 The point where those violins start smoking. This song is a masterpiece.
Well what would anyone expect? It's BAHAMUT! Of course he's gonna get the absolute best song. Plus Dion deserves the world.
Best theme of the entire game! It's the evolution of classical music
We all know where you got that line from. Think your own thoughts man
@@zacharyhutter9085 Ah right cause agreeing with someone else's take means I'm a mindless follower with no thoughts of my own. Thanks for your input!
@@jakeywaykey yep, pretty much
@@jakeywaykeyignore the bridge troll mate, the take is just something that happens to be true!
@@jakeywaykeyignoring the other dude’s pointless condescending comment, cud u explain how does evolution of classic music sound like? It’s a sick soundtrack but I dont get what others meant when they say this.
4:02, made more impressive when you consider the limitations of the sound chips they utilized for home consoles in the 80s/90s where they had to learn various workarounds and started their journey with the bare basics. They learned to make good music through limitations and handicaps, even learning various trickery and various methods to create the sounds they wanted, and finally working around the fact the cartridge itself only has so many bits to allocate to the music.
You absolutely have to listen to "The Riddle" (Odin Theme), it blew me absolutely away! Or better yet, the whole soundtrack!
Thank you for the suggestion!
Far-cry from Heaven is also pretty good (vs ultima prime)
@@user-RenBAi Ooooh yeah, I fucking love the leitmotiv there! I noticed it first when going to the Phoenix Gate and the hooded guy appeared with a short harp jingle...
Its sounds like a horse galloping
Like Odin riding round on Sleipnir
"They definitely can't top the Titan fight"
"Wait no, stop, I can't--"
Wish I had had someone like you to teach music and choir to me when I was young. With you doing this, you would make a great music teacher.
Thank you my friend
One of the best moments in gaming happened at the Tension and Release section in the beginning of this song. Its a pretty big spoiler. So when you get to it in the game just enjoy.
Undoubtedly this song plays in the most epic moment in gaming imo, this song is so masterfully crafted, the battle is so tense and bombastic, a really excepcional moment
A shame that you didn't got to experience it in the game itself, but hearing you instantly love the song makes me really happy
OMG watching your face when the full string section hits - SAME BROTHER!
7:22 "It's a fusion", hmmm yes, yes it is 😉
UGH you know it's good because even when you stop to break it down hearing the song still gives me goosebumps. But seriously love your passions and your explanation! I love it when music professionals are as big of fanboys (and girls) about this stuff as I am.
great breakdown of this glorious track. imagine my surprise and delight listening to this for the first time while playing it with headphones last month. absolutely incredible.
I always love the happy mood you have in your videos. (The new bonk emoji looks really good)
"The mood changed" *boom*
God I love this song so much, it's gotta be my favorite, next to Away (Phoenix theme)
This by far is my favorite theme in the game. I was blown away from how beautiful and powerful it felt the whole fight.
This has to be my favorite so far too
@@DaviVasc Can't wait for you to dive into the other themes. Sokken put everything he had in this one.
What's cool about this theme is that it's a culmination of the Sanbreque violin theme the at would play for Dion throughout the game until the epic fight between Bahamut and Ifrit like a crescendo that culminated in this epic soundtrack.
Great video as always! I love how this piece maintains a cinematic feel, but as soon as the Baroque-style part comes in, it instantly gives off a strong video game music vibe. I feel like even if this were created in 8-bit format, it would still sound dramatic and epic. Thank You, Davi.
Bahamut's fight alone is worth $70 already.
I was already convinced at the Titan one 😂
Everytime you think you just witnessed the craziest boss battle in the game, the next one just updo it. The boss fights in ff16 were just amazing
literally one of the best cinematic masterpieces in a game ive ever experienced
I was already convinced with the ifrit one lol@@furanpyon
I know it's hard to believe but this is not EVEN the final boss of the game haha. But definitely one of the climaxes.
It was the best eikon fight imo 😅
I suspected as much haha
@@mrsgamer9218bahumat and titan are tied for me honestly. lol
@@treyjordan1284 bahamut won for me cuz of the music. But both fights were amazing. I had literal tears in my eyes because it was so awsome 😊
This theme is my favorite of the game! I still listen to it a ton.
They kept going higher in altitude during the boss fight too lol. Everything about this song is about a battle in the skies that keeps going higher. Even the name of the song is accession. You should react to the songs while watching the actual cinematics from the game. I think you'll be even more impressed with the music
During this boss fight I’m not sure if I’m gonna cry because of how amazing the boss fight is or I’m gonna cry because of how epic the music is.
I love your analysis, always so accurate and enthusiastic!
I really think you should hear more from FFXIV OST, because it's such an enormous OST that shows how Soken can really work with any genre and is also the master of leitmotiv. We have idk how many songs that use the "Order Yet Undeciphered" motiv and all are great, -actually, please, Soken, give us more-. He even uses this motiv in particular in the first FFXVI DLC and it works there too.
I would suggest "eScape" from this motiv in particular, but XIV has sooo many great songs that I could be suggesting a Bible, so better stop at this for now.
This battle against bahamut is so special to me, what a roller coaster of action
There is 4 theme playing on battlefield you can hear ifrit theme, phoenix theme, bahamut theme, and final fight bahamut vs ifrit arisen theme
Not mention the reunion between siblings
By far my favorite track in the game. Absolutely wonderful
I love the soundtrack of this game, each motif for each eikon fits the narrative perfectly.
It's almost like SE has multi-millions invested in the development of the game and has some of the greatest composers in gaming history on their team (Uematsu and Soken).
Yep, and don't forget Yoko Shimomura and Masashi Hamauzu
@@kingplaya6558 Don't you dare to leave Yasunori Mitsuda. In the span of his short career in Square, he made multiple masterpieces remembered as some of the best game soundtracks ever made
@@tsukuneboyI hope I do not confound them-but Caius's themes alone are so worth it.
@@Vayne_Solidor Oh, the prodigal son of One Winged Angel.........that is the only saving grace for that game, along with Serah's theme
This song always gives me goosebumps, and it sounds to me like a church hymn... I dont know how to describe it, also it brings me images of lous the XVth and the whole royal cort...
This piece on the OST and the one that precedes it "Beyond The Heavens" are both part of Bahamut's signature theme for the game. "Beyond The Heavens" is more routed in the classical style with the heavy Hollywood percussion. Bahamut's motif that they sprinkled throughout those two pieces is my favorite for the game. Maybe only "Not Alone" which is a variation on Jill's Theme for a certain key scene that pulls the heart strings heavy with a piano and light string accompaniment.
6:08 is definitely my favorite part of this amazing song; always gives me goosebumps!
IMO best fight in the game, and that is saying something because there are a lot of good ones! The music and just (trying to be spoiler free) everything that is taking place and… it’s just amazing. You gotta play it Davi!
Awesome breakdown, man! I always have a soft spot for big cinematic choirs, it really gets the goosebumps going!
Might I suggest Slave Knight Gael's theme from Dark Souls 3, because it is my favorite Soulsborne track besides Lady Maria and Ludwig!
Fantastic theme, and knowing the full game story hearing it just makes me cry haha
Love watching you! You get so excited!
I was so desperate to see your reaction to this song, I am so happy you made this.
Listening to this after completing Crystalline Dominion Ultimaniac mode is ten times better!! I now appreciate the music more than my first playthrough.
soken is out of his mind, Bahamut's regalness is 100% in Ascension.
i never realized til you pointed out the simple progression behind the chords but at 12:03 you pointed out... that's like one of the simple final fantasy early battle themes amped up. and i saw a lot in their songs but never this til you simplified it.
not positive it's the exact same, it may be a step up in notes, but it's the same
Another week waiting for Find the Flame, surely our patience will outlast
The heavy percussion and rhythmic feel in certain parts feels like a nod towards Bahamut/Dion's place as a military commander being a big part of his character.
This music is just....
omg.
Love the video man! You gotta do the Titan Lost theme next. That is a fire track in FF16!
If I had to pick a favorite song from this game, it would be this one. But, honestly, all the music in this game is so good, the rest of the soundtrack is close behind.
The Violin lead is just the pinaccle of modern music.
After playing the game up to this point the music hits so well
This and Find the flame 🔥
I am so happy you covered this one
I love these reviews, if you see this would you consider doing Odins theme “The Riddle” it’s absolutely crazy
Ooooh I was waiting for your insight on this one! To this point, mine was "omagadomagadomagad"
It’s funny when you say fusion during this part of the theme; because of how and when this theme actually starts playing lol.
Great comment!!!!
Rumor has it that the recording studio had to have the fire department on the scene whenever FF16’s soundtrack was being made.
7:22 Fusion, you say?
Would love to see you do a react video for every Eikon battle in the game - they are all so good!
I really hope you do more ff16. One of my favorite game osts.
If you make another Touhou Video, how about "Tonight Stars an Easygoing Egoist (live ver.)~ Egoistic Flowers", so you meet the 2nd side of Touhou games? 😉😉
Nice vid as always btw😄 You always explain it all soo good! 😊
The fusion part of fight was amazing. The space battle reminds me of my story's, VX Super Force but mine has MUCH more stuff. :)
Omg yes!! Can’t wait to watch this.
In before Davi melts.
1:15, nevermind.
The switch up at 10:37 had us all like wait WHAT 👀
Masayoshi Soken is now my favourite composer
At 10:37 and 12:42 Did you notice the little sneaky papyrus theme song from Udertale put as a melody in those part?
You can listen to them side by side here : ua-cam.com/video/-He-1rDsLMc/v-deo.html (26:51 to 27:18)
Some of the notes happen to be the same but it is absolutely not the same melody
It's not an Undertale reference lol. Only the first four notes of the melody follow the same pattern.
Bahamut is my fave summon. This is my fave ost
My favorite in the game you also should cover Find the Flame.
10:40 one of the best parts of music of the history
Hope you make a video about the final theme of FF16 (All As One), it is easily one of the best songs of the entire game, if not THE BEST!!!
I am the 100th like! Also great video, this is my favorite theme of the game and a very fitting one for a summon like Bahamut.
Спасибо за видео, мне нравятся ваши ролики и музыка Final Fantasy
Don't mind me, just going around finding every video I can with knowledgable people breaking this track down 😂
There's a song from Deep Rock Galactic that I wonder what you'd say about. It's called "RUN!"
Yes, 5:50 brings a smile.
Actually although the track ends there, the way it's used is after the track is finished, they repeat the beginning part of the track and ends it on the word "Ascension"
Damn this bahamut theme is God like music.🤯
I think you would love musics from Octopath Traveler , it's another Rpg.
my personal favorite music is Primerose theme from octopath traveler 1 and would love to see you listening to this!
I would love for you to listen to some field themes like Forevermore & Historie. Also, you NEED to cover FF14 music to hear how incredibly versatile Soken is.
Please do Coalescence from Risk of Rain!
+1 to this. Chris is a fantastic composer!
Do Odin fight! Song Name: The Riddle, that one will also blow you away
Hey davi. I'd love to recommend a song from risk of rain 2. You've already listened to one in one of your live streams, con lentitud poderosa. I think you would enjoy either antarctic oscillation, or the main menu music titled "Risk of Rain 2". Regardless, love your content and keep up the great work
Will you take a listen to the Rising Tides DLC music? The whole DLC has great music with a running motif, but Leviathan got an awesome song… again.
“So this is a fusion!”
Me: Yeap. :)
"The other sound more classic"
You should check the Titan boss Theme, that is totally different than the others. Great vid btw
FF16 went all out and rejuvenated the series. I haven’t been excited for FF in awhile. The games went dull and weren’t something I was interested in. But FF16 fixed a lot of issues I was having. They just need to bring back turn base puzzle fighting. But I still ❤ this game, so beautiful
I would love to see a fusion of Remakes and this’ battle system.
Please do Find the flame!
Phoenix and Bahamut have the best tracks. Which works, because Joshua and Dion are the best characters. :)
To me, the Bahamut fight was more epic than Ultima.
I love your videos!
Thank you.
'Far Cry from Heaven' is a great track
Hey! You have sort of a brazillian accent, are you from brazil?? If not, where you from?? (im probably wrong lol)
Day one of asking for beast clergyman or radahn from elden ring
interesting how the music styles FUSE
Do Phoenix theme
Hey have you heard a Tiny Bunny ost? I think it has beautiful music and also quite interesting to analyse
You should also listen phase 2 OST (since this Is phase 3), since this Is like an evolution of that part. But phase 3 Is the most majestic ;)
You should listen to guardian ape from sekiro
