He's such a clever man. And even better, he's largely on the public's side!! Been a long time since we''ve had a posh and vastly intelligent statesman that commoners respect. He's like the genius captain of a rough and tough mutinous crew that is not only no longer contemplating mutiny, but is now content again even though circumstances remain as before. It's great!

Sometimes educated people struggle to put into words what they want to say.
Jacob Rees-Mogg has no such problems, he is articulate, has a calm demeanour, and so easy to listen to, in fact he seems to be a genius appointment.
He's not a genius. His education is extremely laughable and pitiful-he only has an II-1 honours and in a pathetically useless field-history. That man has no serious qualifications apart from being a landlord and having been given a whopping inheritance from his dad, lord Mogg. The man has never worked a day in his life.
@@reellezahl Jealous much?
@@reellezahl Wouldn't call it a useless field. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
@@reellezahl So everyone studying at Oxford who does not get a first has had a laughable, pitiful eduction? Or is it only pitiful if they studied a subject you do not personally approve of? That is such a self-evidently stupid comment that it does not need further analysis, it stands for itself. As for not having worked a day in his life, that is even more laughable. He worked for nearly 20 years in banking (1991-2010), which may be a field you despise, but that does not make it no work. Quite the opposite, you tend to work very long hours. Again, you may despise the field and despise the people working in it (and fair enough - your right, and certainly an opinion that is quite widely shared) but to say it is no work is, again, as self-evidently stupid as your barb at his education. In addition, if you look at parliamentary statistics you will see that he is one of the harder working members of parliament. He is often one of about 10 people in a session nobody else bothers to attend. He is a very committed parliamentarian, unlike many of his Labour and Tory peers, who turn up half the time he does. Again, you may despise his politics and fair enough, but to say he is not working is absurd. You seem to have a bizarre notion that any job you do not approve of does not fall under the definition of "work".

Add Douglas Murray I to that and the left would just crumble to ash
george moore I imagine we will experience a lot more absences from Abbott due to ‘migraines.’

So pleased to see Jacob doing the job he was born to do, the new PM was fantastic as well today, he tore Corbyn rightly to shreds. Bring on Brexit.
a job he was born to do???? your thinking capacity is truly worse than that of a sheep
abdi abdi I strongly agree with that notion. Claire B, I honestly question your intelligence in regards to your comment on brexit i.e “bring on brexit. Let me ask you this, how can you support such a inscrutable idea, when brexit will further impose economic austerity?
abdi abdi I said that because of his love of the procedures and history of the House of Commons and our constitution.
Epz tana you obviously do not understand what Brexit was about, it was partly about the economy, but the main reason was for a radical reform of how politics is done in this Country, the people who live here having the power to hold their political parties to account, being able to change the direction of the government and bring powers back to this Country.
Claire B I’m fully aware, but I’ll give you just a little hint into why it hasn’t occurred yet; it’s because is a bad idea for the country, I fully believe in democracy but democracy fails when the majority of people do not have a clue about the consequences of brexit. As you’ve just clearly demonstrated, will you please clarify the positives of brexit ?
We here in the states are actually enjoying watching this.
Well, we will see how you deal with Tommy. Will he ever stop being persecuted?
Same here in Britain. I actively enjoy watching Parliament debates now with Johnson and Mogg in the House.
I'm watching from Penang in Malaysia. So refreshing to see MPs behaving civilized again.
Welcome to british politics,
God bless America!
OMG he even quotes Julian of Norwich...this man is amazing. It's like being able to see in colour, stereo and 3D when before everything was black and white, 2D and mono.
Londonfogey lol, I am loving reading all the posts on here, great fun. Sorry, I’m not being sarcastic, it truly is amusing.
You must be Catholic too!! Julian of Norwich is one of my best consolations.
@@ohmightywez No, I am a fairly traditional Anglican - but I very much like the medieval Catholic mystics such as Julian of Norwich and Meister Eckhart.
Londonfogey Sorry to have assumed. Allow me to compliment you on your choice of reading material.
Very few people here in the US know anything about Bede or Julian of Norwich or any of the other earliest influences on English culture, history and literary riches. I got a little excited. 🙂

@Gary Lee: What happened in 1886 that you should be so much upset by it?
@Gary Lee lol youre in England. Newsflash some people speak like this and keep traditions. Its not strange but also not common.
Wonderful to hear Jacob Rees Mogg repeatedly reminding the dissenters that Parliament (that is they themselves) passed into Law the European Union (Withdrawal Act) 2018. I hope that soon he will also be pointing out that they also approved the European Union (Withdrawal Act) 2017 which supersedes the European Union (Withdrawal Act) 2018 - renders it moot, because the UK left the EU on 29th March 2019.
The most enlightening exchange shown from this chamber in Decades! Jacob Rees Mogens clearly excells at his new-found role indeed, it banes the way for a new and progressive future for governing rule of the United Kingdom!
At last Rees mogg with a class act making me smile..again as a breath of fresh democratic quality.... air.......well done sir
Im finally going to start enjoying politics again..Thankyou JRM
Fantastic. So informative and so entertaining. Mr. Jacob Reece Mogg is without a doubt a great Statesman and will restore faith in the Conservative Party.

Benjamin Sleep surr
we talked about it 4 years ago already. So we didnt hear it first here.
I don't understand why People who support labour dislike this man? i can't find a reason to!!! Well-spoken and kind and answers the questions
That's because labour are doom and gloomers and are chickens when it comes to a pm offering a general election. A few weeks ago they were all up for it and now a snap GE was offered the chicken out and say no because they want to stop no deal first. That bill will be meaningless when we have a GE because the new pm can appeal and get it removed so Corbyn will be back to square one. Boris can get a majority back in a ge just look at the polls.
Since Treason may went and Boris stepped up it feels like the UK has recovered from a massive hangover... Well done Boris and JRM.
With you on that
He still won’t deliver brexit theys more chance of Jesus coming back.

What a fabulous leader of the house. He went through the SNP front bench like a well polished bowling ball.
Agreed wholeheartedly. He would be a great, an outstanding Prime Minister and our Country would benefit hugely. While we must accept his choice it is a loss to the Nation that he does not see that role as his future.. We have some right dips in Parliament and we are paying a painful price for their ambition exposing their incompetence.
What a great line!-)
William Dryden . The freak of nature you refer to happens to be a well educated constitutional expert who understands how a real democracy should actually work. Unlike yourself who is clearly a typically frustrated C streamer who should have paid a lot more attention in the classroom...

Gary Abbott. Is that the same Dominic Raab who May sent to negotiate the withdrawal deal with the EU? . Strangely the EU negotiators said Raab and Davies were chaotic, unprepared and confused. No wonder they both resigned .
@@Struieboy "The E.U. negotiators said"- hahahhahah. Yes we all know what the EU want and if they don't get it, they aren't prepared to discuss fair terms. They will ultimately lose out because their heads are so far up their own backsides.
Villianofthepiste. How much will you bet me that Boris doesn’t let Raab or Davies anywhere near the renegotiations?. Boris will make a few cosmetic changes to May’s deal and it will pass in Parliament because everyone is so exhausted with Brexit. Maybe Raab and Davies should’ve got an acceptable deal when they had the chance. Enjoy your sovereignty.
