- I stayed at one of the worst hotels in Southport, Filthy mattress, holes in the ceiling, Royal Clifton Hotel by Britannia Hotels WHAT A SCRAPHEAP! How can this be open to the public??? This hotel is in in Southport, Merseyside in the north west of England. I check out one of the worst rated hotels in the town and give you the full room tour with a full explore and walk around the hotel and grounds. How was my stay, is it the worst hotel in Southport? Sammy Joe and Paige Vanessa were enemies in dynasty, poor Dame Collins had a very difficult time with those younger ladies trying to control her (using a vintage version of body shaming) by dressing more extravagant type outfits and having fresh hairstyles each month, Dame Collins felt those younger women suffered with jealousy towards her which I think was true, poor Dame Collins suffered a lot at the dynasty studios during the 80's , it took almost 40 years for her to speak out about this awful situation!
Used to be a gorgeous hotel. Not now, sadly, and I live in Southport.
Looking a bit past its best, I hope the renovation will help!
I live in Southport and the Hotels used to be really nice until they were bought out by big companies. You are probably better looking at the small Bed and breakfasts for accomadation

Three of the most grotty hotels in Southport are The Prince of Wales, The Scarisbrick & The Royal Clifton avoid They were all good back in the day but in want of refurbishment should be more new hotels on the horizon.
That’s true although the scarisbrick gave me the best room out of the 3
Excellent Vlog, Back in the late 80s when American Football took off over here I played for a side from Ormskirk, we were heavily sponsored. Played all over the country with them. Our club owner hired the Clifton hotel events room for awards party. A few of the team did not drink and there was a coffee machine and a fridge with bottled water in the back of the room. Thought it was part of the evening so some lads started to make coffees and take the water. All hell broke loose. Am not kidding the hotel management were obnoxious we were asked to leave the venue even when one of the owners explained and said they would pay for any coffees or water. Some off us were from Liverpool area and came on the train so hired rooms. We got refunded but asked to leave at 1ish in the morning. You’re talking 30+ lads with family and friends all being asked to leave the hotel. I remember at the time one of the lads from Southport showing us the local paper and how we made it in a section of the paper.The Hotel management said “ they asked us to leave cause of theft to hotel property”. Am sure it the room with the alcove. Keep up the great work 👍👍

Before they amalgamated we had Queen(s) Victoria(s) Royal Palace Hotels as the 4 hotels spanning to Birkdale and the Palace Hotel with it's own railway station terminating in Southport town centre 😊

Stayed there a few years ago before it was part of Britannia, I think it was Best Western when I stayed there. It wasn’t that bad then - a bit dated but it was clean. I had a back view as well but don’t think I had a view of the pipe. I remember the food was quite nice in the restaurant. x

I worked at the royal Clifton inside the women's changing room and it was a good job we did decorating it

Was £42 during the week!
