About a year ago i picked this up for free at epic games, oh boi, did it changed my life!
Booted up the game, kinda nervous, first time with this exact kind of game, i'm familiar with Arpg's and shit, but not these Crpg's or idk, and man, i was amazed beyond words with the sheer number of classes, origin points, etc etc, i was already foaming at the ideia ''how much flexibility does this game have?'' the first 40 mins or so where like heaven to me, i had a bit of problem with the text dumps, never had i played something with that much of text walls like Pillars, kinda of a ward point, a barrier of entry, but dude, all the choices, the dialogs, the back and forth os characters, the use of stats to actually do things in dialog and in the world, the tension of ''can i save this fella?'' ppl like Calisca telling about motives and experiences, having ppl that she care for and she literally did everything she could to get back to her sister.
Text walls had meaning, had real information, had feeling, made me attached, made me love and hate characters, made me hade moments like ''the fuck is this little shit acting out for?''
Or ''ain't no way u talking X companion down in front of me, there will be blood!''
I was, and still on at a pretty bleak moment of my life, can't really have enough will power do to even things i love, like playin games, but pillars? made me fall in love out in a time where i was convinced, no such thing was possible anymore... Pillars changed my life, played this game for hours thru the days, sometimes found myself with my eyes burning, noticing that isnt 3PM anymore, its 1 AM and i've been playing in the dark for hours XD, i hade moments where i just had to get up from my chair and think of the combinations, think of where X quest wanted me to go, think about things said in the game, i legit sometimes had too much exitement at some parts of the game, i think i had happyness overload, and i legit had to step down and just cool my head off outside de game, like i was giggling, anxious, heart going crazy and etc
Played this game 4 times back to back, each time pushing harder settings and difficulties, i legit had like 300 hours in the first play, i was in love with pillars, and i was like ''is this game just too good? or this style of game, is actually something i didnt knew i'd enjoy?'' in the next year i bought pillars 2, pathfinder; kingmaker, baldurs gate 1 and 2, Tirany, Solasta, divinity 2.
I'm OMW to a full tour of Crpg's XD having a blast!

@@Dan-sw8tg as of now, i've finished pillars 1 and 2 a couple times, and i'm playing Solasta, i must say, pillars of eternity is WORTH EVERY DAMN COIN you can put in.
I can attest to it, the game is worth it, i dunno how the priccing is in your currency, but you can find the game in the xbox gamepass, i believe that if you have the ultimate version of it, you can play the games on windows, but i could be wrong, either way, could be worth checking out if its better for you.

I didn't even realize you could get Heodan through that hostage situation unscathed. His death outside the ruins hurt so much because I'd been working so hard to keep him alive. I even lost Calisca in the process. I really hate Telltale-style 'everyone dies no matter what you do' situations, but on the other hand it made for a very powerful beginning.

They would have been better off just making the dungeon the whole game, where you crawl through lvls, get attached to characters, and then after about maybe 5 hours of gameplay exit the dungeon and finish the game with a cliffhanger for the second game.
