My son shared this song with me this week... I can hear through this song.. .his anguish more than any words he tries to use ..with such sad eyes. TBH Its impossible for anyone to ever know the daily struggle an addict goes through unless they're still an active user or was strong enough and blessed enough to be able to persevere and get their lives back on the right track! For we are the only ones that knows what its like to look in a mirror and see nothing but the shell of the person that you use to be with zero control over the thoughts and decision in our own heads a slave to a substance... 😵💉😥🤦 For lack of better words, "Its literally a living hell! A horrible nightmare stuck in loop like a viscous cycle..."😩👹
I feel ya and so surprised and sorry more people didn't comment. I've been dealing with a horrible bowel and urinary disease for over 2yrs now and just recently relapsed after 8yrs. I'm just exploding with resentment and frustration. We are all connected

This is such a great song. I first heard it live, and wondered what song it was. Now I have found it. Amazing.
This song explains what I can't myself. I fucking love it! I'm not the kind of person who can just blert out my emotions. This explains a lot about how I used to feel when I couldn't even tell my parents why I never left my room and pretended to be sick so I didn't have to go out in public. Personal problems but this song just makes it better. Knowing I'm not the only one who's gone through what I did. :)

I'm really sorry you went through that, I can't imagine how awful it must feel to be so set on something for your entire life and then lose it because of circumstances beyond your control. But just remember that it's only a loss, only a failure, if you give up. If you pick yourself up, if you keep moving even in the face of adversity and find SOME way to make your dreams come true, even if they're not in exactly the same form you originally imagined them, then I'd still call you a success.
I hope you find something that fulfills you, my friend, and can overcome this negativity in your life and find yourself in a better place soon. Remember you're not in this alone, eh?

Never actually realized he was struggling with the same issue that I am. I used to listen to this song quite often, but I never gleaned the meaning until I got much older. People have always said I have this amazing gift (singing) but I've been "so afraid" of just letting go with it that whenever I step on stage, I get so self-conscious. It's like, the more you hear the words of praise, the less you start to believe them. It probably sounds crazy, but that's how it feels.

@@619mom8- No, this song is not about a narcissist at all on either side. This is all about him and battling his sufferings from guilt, shame and an emptiness from his history and has nothing to do with her. She is offering and he struggles to accept. Period.
