I've never heard from this guy something that wasn't inspiring, not a single song that has a weak melody... It's awesome the way he gives the best expression to every damn note he play... A true master, a player that gives you every time a new way to look, hear and play even the most common scale, arpeggios or sequence... Great!!!
"I’m proud to say that I’m Officially signed to Kiesel Guitars. Very much looking forward to working with Jeff Kiesel and his amazing team moving forward in 2018 and beyond ." - Andy James - Facebook post 02/20/2018. Thank you for the upload.
Andy James is the first guitarist to stop me dead in my tracks and force me to listen since I was first spellbound by Joe satriani three decades ago. I appreciate what John Petrucci does, I`ve even met him many times, and he`s a great guy. But his playing bores me to tears. Andy does what I try to get my students to learn (the ones who want to play tech stuff anyway), and that is not to play a fast phrase for the purpose of saying "hey, look at that thing I just played", but rather "Hey, listen to what I just said with that phrase". Just like words are far more than the sum of their letters, phrases "should" be more than the sum of the notes in them. And to me, he does that.
His technique is so brutal that most people overlook his amazing sense of melody, reminds me of when people overlooked ygwies amazing touch and vibrato because of his chops
I couldn't agree more. Satriani I has a sound so beautiful it takes me away from this earth. AJ has taken that sound and put it on another ship and has taken my ears to places they have never been.
I'm really confused by all these people that say that Andy doesn't have feeling in his music... To me almost all of his playing conveys a lot of emotion but maybe I'm just crazy?
Liftosophy I think people who saying that kind of stuff meaning that it looks like he paying most part of his attention to scheme/technique then putting his feelings in to his sound. It also looks same to me... but what the hell? Its seem to be toooooo ridiculous to study an artistic stuff such as musician skill only just for study.... so don't get it wrong. Its all just about perfection & will to save original idea of sound & to bring more transparency & liquidity to make it much easier for you to catch his feelings.
for most people this is to hard to listen to, for the untrained ear, then they will say it has no feel becouse of that. but in my opinion andy james plays actually with alot of feel, some songs really gives me chills everywhere. i love it :)
I can almost understand their comments to a degree. But this guy no I can feel it more so not per note (as my favorite Michael Schenker does) but he puts in each run he does and man I can feel it, so much so I gave all my guitars to my dog!
Phil At least you admit that. That’s good. I’ve personally never felt that way. The faster and more technical the better it is to me. Some people may think Andy’s playing is robotic but actually it’s the opposite. He’s a robot with emotion. Lol
a SONG is when people SING along to musical melodies, he's producing music TRACKS, kinda like the terminology "FOOTAGE" and saying "FILMING" when recording with a DIGITAL device like body cams or go pro's or dash cams..
Great young guitarist. Can play at warp speed but doesn't remind you of that fact every other lick. Has great control, accuracy and style. Looking forward to more from him.
Andy James took over from John Petrucci as my favorite guitarist. This is saying something, as JP got me into playing guitar seriously back in 2001. You rock!
Coming from an American in Arizona: So many non-native English speakers leave comments and they always say "I'm sorry for my bad English", but what they don't realize is that their comments are more coherent than most Americans who post on here. Your English is fine, brother! :-D
Andy... You are getting better and better at each of your release. I'm glad to know you. You are a legend. Greetings from France. (I'm sorry for my bad english)
Andy James is probably the only shred player i can appreciate. Very melodic and fluid phrasing, nice vibrato. Nothing he does seems like the typical mindless shredding, no offence ment to anyone.
Shine On Through - A New Dawn (full song) - Phase 4 - Digital Scream - Nowhere Somewhere - Octavia - Scars of Reality - Machine - Scarred - Breathe - Into The Void - War March. These are the songs that I feel define Andy James. If these are anything to go by then this new album should be fantastic.
World class is the least i can say, his tone and feeling is just improving, i was listening to "war march" and wondering can he better than this ? i mean what there is to be done to make that tone even better, but here he is, sounding just awsome
Andy is such an amazing guitarist. I only like one guitarist better and that would be the legendary Dimebag Darrell Abbott. Andy is extremely talented. Thanks for sharing this.
troll alert!!! Its MUSIC folks. not algebra. Very subjective...some people like it. Others don't. Some people would complain about Dream Theater songs being too long or Steve Vai sounding too lydian or Yngwie Malmsteen too diminished/phrygian dominant or Ron Thal has too many in between notes or Guthrie Govan bends too much or Paul Gilbert doing too much string skipping or Clapton outlining too many pentatonic boxes or Satriani using too much legato or country music having too many references to working all week, daisy dukes, trucks, recreational binge drinking and domestic abuse/infidelity... the list goes on. There's no pleasing some people. Bottom line: Andy is great at what he does. He makes a decent living at it. The world is still turning. If I could play like Andy, I would. Who wouldn't? You don't get a F-50 or Bugatti to creep through school zones. Let's get real, people.
" If I could play like Andy, I would. Who wouldn't?" That right there is probably the smartest, most pertinent sentence in the entire history of UA-cam.
@trollstjerne No I don't need one to play clean. There are plenty of bids to show otherwise, and the tie isn't being used here either, all open strings can still ring out
Thx for the inspiration!
The solo at 2:45 gives me goosebumps. Such passion, soul, practice and knowledge andy james has on the guitar.
So memorable lines. And the technical ones...
I've never heard from this guy something that wasn't inspiring, not a single song that has a weak melody... It's awesome the way he gives the best expression to every damn note he play... A true master, a player that gives you every time a new way to look, hear and play even the most common scale, arpeggios or sequence... Great!!!
isn't a SONG when people play music and SING along to the melodies and such?? isn't this JUST MUSIC TRACKS???
can’t help coming back to this masterpiece every once in a while
100% agree

I prefer this performance over the album version.
Seems to be this way with the whole album. The little improvised parts here and there really make it better

Voodoo Jef This comment speaks volumes

I love his technique, I really wish Andy James would make a Blues album - I think we would all be blown away!!!
Epic!!! That's a wicked track. Awesome playing.

Lex Buren haha. What lies beneath. I literally start crying when i hear it

Holy........andy james is a beast!!!. already a guitar legend.
now one of my favorite songs
isn't a SONG when someone SINGS ALONG WITH THE MUSIC???
I just can't get over how sick this guy is. getting me back into playing after 20 years... thank you AJ
One of the very very few shredders that i can call TRULY AMASING .
The man himself. Great job again, Andy
Andy James, Paul Wardingham and Marco Sfogli...new G3
I can't stop listening to this. I enjoy this better than the record.
I like his style, good melodies and songwritting + good speed, he's doing things right
a SONG is when people SING along to musical melodies, he's producing music TRACKS, kinda like the terminology "FOOTAGE" and saying "FILMING" when recording with a DIGITAL device like body cams or go pro's or dash cams..
This song burned my cosmos, elevated my ki, increased my ken and equilibrated my chakra
Wow I can hear every single note of the song.. so clean so neat.
Andy James can actually make intricate music such as this beautiful and relate-able.
Man when I watch him play some of this stuff so casually, I can't help but smile. It's like watching the highlight reel of a dunk contest.
speechless ........one of the best guitar solo
Great young guitarist. Can play at warp speed but doesn't remind you of that fact every other lick. Has great control, accuracy and style. Looking forward to more from him.
i love how each of his songs have their own distinct mood or emotion
Andy James took over from John Petrucci as my favorite guitarist. This is saying something, as JP got me into playing guitar seriously back in 2001. You rock!
Hope to have a dialoge with Andy this life or next ;D
Awesome song! I downloaded this from itunes and I can't stop listening to it!
Literally shaking with excitement to hear the song with the guest solo from Paul Wardingham. We love you Andy. Prepare for covers on my channel
Touches me on an emotional wavelength that makes something in my trousers tingle.
Words of approval, words of approval. Watching more.

He is the most underrated and perfect guitarist ever.
Andy... You are getting better and better at each of your release. I'm glad to know you.
You are a legend.

would absolutely love to see a project with Andy and Paul Wardingham.
Very similar sounds from him right now, and its fantastic.
Dave aubin absolutely agree.
Incredible playing, complete control and chops to die for! Love it
Andy James is probably the only shred player i can appreciate. Very melodic and fluid phrasing, nice vibrato. Nothing he does seems like the typical mindless shredding, no offence ment to anyone.
Incredible as always, so glad to see Andy again with the 7 stringer!
His licks are definitely well rehearsed. There are very few shredders I can listen to also.
his composing is getting better... guess i should go practice too!
Absolutely trouser destroying! Your best work yet Andy, truly world class.
Shine On Through - A New Dawn (full song) - Phase 4 - Digital Scream - Nowhere Somewhere - Octavia - Scars of Reality - Machine - Scarred - Breathe - Into The Void - War March.
These are the songs that I feel define Andy James. If these are anything to go by then this new album should be fantastic.

yes I know Marco Sfogli :) There are so many good players now, and with internet, it's so easy to share, find new style, materials etc. Awesome.
Andy is such an amazing guitarist. I only like one guitarist better and that would be the legendary Dimebag Darrell Abbott. Andy is extremely talented. Thanks for sharing this.

@ValkoDeath Unfortunately this was a prototype, I have the only black gloss finish one in existence to my knowledge. The STBLK is the proper model
