Not sure why anyone would say this video is fake... The iron statue is definitely on the Matterhorn. On the final ridge climb you can clearly see the Weisshorn to the climber's right. Absolutely insane and incredible.
That is some climb, that nice 'walk in the park' on the ridge on the summit, certifiable or you must be a mountain kid/goat! The descent was incredible, relentlessly scary terrain, unbelievable climbing into your binding below that outcrop and then the skiing, often frozen water-slides, and the snow was brutal ! May 2015. You my man, posted the most extreme ski video in a long time, takes guts, incredible skill and mental prep to get that done. Congratulations! And you did this alone, no ski buddy, helicopter watching you ? Wow. Very Impressive, should be a Red Bull video..this was mind-freeze stuff.
great vid... earnt a beer after that run... must be super fit as that snow is hard going after a big climb.. nice to see some proper ski mountaineering.. good acid track as well
Holy shit! :O Seriously, this is the bravest thing a man can do! I love mountains and I love skiing but this scary slope is just a suicide :D So my biggest respect to you! Greetings from Germany.
love how he just casually climbs the mountain like a pro when so many ppl died on this mountain trying to get on it, and he also skiis down it 😃, cool but damn.
Wow. Just wow. Excellent job. You sir, have some serious balls! I'm still trying to wrap my head around how steep that was. A very technical climb, and a very technical decent, and you made it look easy. Well, as easy as you can make skiing the Matterhorn look....What would you say that was? 60 degrees? That's one hell of an accomplishment that you'll remember the rest of your life. Enjoy the moment! I look forward to more of your videos!
Hallo MatthiasHerzliche Gratulation Matthias. Das ist eine grossartige Leistung. Weiter so. Danke für schönen Film, da werden viele tolle Erinnerungen aus meiner Heimat wach.Wir wünschen dir weiterhin viele schöne Touren, und viel Spass.Liebe Grüsse vonSarah Elena, Margarethe und Raphael Wellig
Does anybody know the average angle of that face? It seems pretty steep. For sure it is way, way above my skill level to ski on something like that, but overall this doesn't seem as extreme as I was imagining it would ( and that's probably mostly due to the amazing skill of Matthias).
Dude this is extreme as F! I visited the Matterhorn twice! That's extreme steep as hell! If you want to play suicidal with your life skiing down it or going alone to climb it, your chances of dying greatly increase 10's fold! Awesome footage from this dude and glad he made alright! Prost/cheers from Bavaria!
The average angle is around 45° over an elevation difference of 850m (some 2.700ft), with some sections being over 50°. Especially the part where he used the ixe axe is often very steep, icy and has to be downclimbed.
WOW and WOWOWOWOWOWOW....Well I know now how to get down faster when its my turn to climb The Matterhorn, almost safer to ski down than to walk, I skied the Wall in Bulgaria and this looked less steeper in some places... There is snow in May.. Cool....
+Marc Hoer Thanks a lot! It's actually only above 50° on the last 300 meters, but it's a little narrow in some places. The rest of the lower face is 45-48 and really nice for skiing! Cheers!
Matthias you are absolutely crazy, take this vídeo out, some other people will see and maybe would think it is easy , for sure some one will try this and maybe would died.
+kufarg Yeah me too. I have to learn how to ski first, grow some balls....wish me luck with that one......and try to figure out how to get my legs that strong. huummmm .....maybe I need to stay home and watch the video from my sofa!!
That is absolutely gorgeous, I want to do that since ever (well since I saw the Claim movie lol)! Do you think May is the best time to that or after you doing would you go time?
+Matthias Koenig this is clearly NOT the matterhorn dude. the name of the mountain is dolgi hrbet and it is in slowenia. this video is a fake. ive already been few times on the peek and the view is completely different :)
Mate you took such a risk climbing the matterhorn is such a danger let alone skiing down it you have to be so talented and what you did could of caused an avalanche while you were skiing down
Because he will most likely fall. Even the top skiers in the world will do some jump turns or parallel turns on these things. It would be so extremely hard and dangerous if he straightlines it, and since this isn't a mandatory straightline, he won't straightline it.
Hallo Eltfell Danke für Deine Nachricht. Die Erstbefahrung hat Toni Valeruz im 1975 gemacht. Die zweit Befahrung Jean-Marc Boivin 1978. Ich wünsche Dir gute Touren. Mit alpinen Grüssen Raphael Wellig
+FollowTheStory This is the matterhorn! The other video that was released a few video was fake and not from the matterhorn since you cant ski from the summit. This video however is matterhorn since he climbs down a few hundred meters before he sets off
Absolute skiing G and criminal how underrated this video is, easily on par with some of the craziest ski descents ever made.
Not sure why anyone would say this video is fake... The iron statue is definitely on the Matterhorn. On the final ridge climb you can clearly see the Weisshorn to the climber's right. Absolutely insane and incredible.
Incredible. Just incredible.
It would take me at least 5 lifetimes to accumulate enough BALLS to even think that I could do that.
Bravo Mathias.
+J-L B I would also need mind altering drugs...........woo-hoo!

this must be how my grandparents got to school

you are an incredible human being. you should had a film crew doing a documentary on you. how do you get that brave? wow
I got chills watching this
dude this guy has MASSIVE balls. MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolute insane.....perfect video passes andrenaline feelings..good job mate
You're really insane dude!! Climbing Matterhorn is like something I can only dream about. But to get back like this...? Big respect!!:)
Holy shit! :O Seriously, this is the bravest thing a man can do! I love mountains and I love skiing but this scary slope is just a suicide :D So my biggest respect to you! Greetings from Germany.
Thats mental. fair play, i wouldn't even get in in that lift if i knew where it was going!
2:07 I thought that shadow in the distance was yours for a second.
Looked back and it's kinda godlike for a second.
Excellent video and a great accomplishment - thanks for sharing that
One big no-fall zone
love how he just casually climbs the mountain like a pro when so many ppl died on this mountain trying to get on it, and he also skiis down it 😃, cool but damn.
legends never die. what a legend!
Nice descent ! Saves a bunch of walkin' !
Sauber, reife Leistung! Wenigstens unverspurt 😃
Caspita che fegato! Mi ha coinvolto così tanto che mi sono trovata a indicargli il percorso da fare. Roba da matti!
If i didn't see, i can't believe it...!! OMG You are a MAD Man!!!! Looks Brutal!!! with GOA music :D:D
Scary, awesome, ridiculous ascent and descent.
This is fucking insane! I just skied the Big Couliar at Big Sky and I thought that was scary. Jesus u got some balls!
congratulations...really a cool movie and a great work! bravo!

+Michael Ricci Thank you very much! No, it's above 50 degrees for max. 300 meters, looks scarier as it really is...
Hallo Matthias
Gratulation zu dieser super Leistung. Danke für den schönen Film!
Mit besten Grüssen
Sarah Elena, Margarethe und Raphael Wellig.
You have the courage of the gods. One question though. Did tell anyone of your route?
Thanks for sharing such an experience dude.
Un video da cardiopalma!!! Bellissimo e bravissimi tutti!
Looks like a green run in my area
Let‘s hope you‘re not actually serious
You sir are talented.
The statue of Saint Bernard is at 1:40. He was a great proponent of the Second Crusade which was largely a failure.
That is very impressive. Congratulations! Good luck for the next big adventure! (Daniel from the Rochefort Ridge)
That’s not skiing, it’s surviving.
Good stuff. Thanks for uploading.
Balls of steel Nice run Bra!!!!
Awesome. I wonder if one has to report such attempt in advance in case something goes wrong or to get some kind of approval.
Brave guy! Respect you!!🥳🥳🥳
Impressive, I like the fact when ascending their is no safety line from the ice axe to a climbing harness true alpine
that was awesome and good music in a background
I didn't know this is possible. Looks absolutly insane
Hallo MatthiasHerzliche Gratulation Matthias. Das ist eine grossartige Leistung. Weiter so.
It's unfortunate you cut out certain sections, like 4:23, where you probably rappelled a bit. I would have liked to see that.
You should upload an uncut version
Badass ☝️
Pretty impressive, dude.
That was great dude
8 heures pour monter, 1/2 heure pour descendre. Bravo quand même....
geeez...you've got balls buddy...
Seriously badass!
Respect from Lausanne!!!
Respect!
Hahahhaha i laughed so hard when i saw your drawing of the line at 2:52. Looks absolutely ridicoulus.
Amazing. Love the raw footage!! I'm from Colorado, I'm hoping to ski it with my buddy May 10th. Would love to get some advice from you.
At 3:05 is that you starting to ski after abseiling? Do you have a GPS route to share?
How was it? Still alive?

If you‘re standing at the base of the mountain it looks almost vertical at some places, no idea how that dude got down there
The average angle is around 45° over an elevation difference of 850m (some 2.700ft), with some sections being over 50°. Especially the part where he used the ixe axe is often very steep, icy and has to be downclimbed.
@@thorstenreitz7302 Thank you. That puts it in perspective. Wow. Very steep skiing!
Bien fait, Bonhomme!
bravo gutte ski und gutte muzic.. kikiriki:))
Hardcore. My hat goes off you to. 👌🏻

Man! Toll.
i guess there's no colour black enough to describe steepness of this hill... good job!
I think I’ll just stick to Zermatt.
len pre tých najlepších "!! 💖...
Which piste is that?
complimenti
That is amazing and the achievement must have felt great, but I have to say that it looked like it was absolutely no fun whatsoever.
Matthias you are absolutely crazy, take this vídeo out, some other people will see and maybe would think it is easy , for sure some one will try this and maybe would died.
Respect
Imagine skiing the mountain that is on the Toblerone bar.
were you holding the ice axe alongside your ski poles?
great video!
can I come and try it with you next year?
+kufarg Yeah me too. I have to learn how to ski first, grow some balls....wish me luck with that one......and try to figure out how to get my legs that strong. huummmm .....maybe I need to stay home and watch the video from my sofa!!
+kufarg Hi! I used the ice axe on a little icy section of 10 metres, instead of rappelling. For the rest it's of no use I think.
Nice accomplishment, and thanks for posting. Anyone know what the slope is?
Not a slope, it's the mountain itself
Amine Abouzaid He means steepness.
instructive for me...
This is the Matterhorn
Who put that statue at the top?
I want to ski like Mattias.
*Matthias
That is absolutely gorgeous, I want to do that since ever (well since I saw the Claim movie lol)!
Do you think May is the best time to that or after you doing would you go time?
+Sebastião van Uden Hi Sebastiao, yes I would from April to End of May. Depends on the stability of the snow. Cheers!
+Matthias Koenig this is clearly NOT the matterhorn dude. the name of the mountain is dolgi hrbet and it is in slowenia. this video is a fake.
ive already been few times on the peek and the view is completely different :)
@@ptolmaios you are a clown
Dude...who are these people with no fear of death?
Mad man
that whole damn thing was a no fall zone
sliding down the matterhorn (just kidding nice surviving out there :) )
You didn't need the music!
WoW 🎯
Mate you took such a risk climbing the matterhorn is such a danger let alone skiing down it you have to be so talented and what you did could of caused an avalanche while you were skiing down
did you see the snow conditions? lmao no avalanche mate. that was very icy snow......
Amazing
Do you think this would be harder than a resort?
Hope your messing
Yes brother very much. U do know this is the alps right?
awesome! stay safe ;)
Thanks...
Impressive... But stupid to do solo.
He had the camera and the world watching!!
@David Keane only if he made it out alive...
Nice / Amazing, keep it up ;)
Why don't you go straight? (I can't ski)
Because he will most likely fall. Even the top skiers in the world will do some jump turns or parallel turns on these things. It would be so extremely hard and dangerous if he straightlines it, and since this isn't a mandatory straightline, he won't straightline it.
holy shiiiiiiiiiiit
Cooool!!!!
Nach meiner Erinnerung wurde die erste offizielle Skiabfahrt durch die Ostwand im Mai 1985 von einem Japaner durchgeführt.

+FollowTheStory This is the matterhorn! The other video that was released a few video was fake and not from the matterhorn since you cant ski from the summit. This video however is matterhorn since he climbs down a few hundred meters before he sets off
Just don't slip and fall or yer fucked
Awesome job😊
