I don’t want to kill the guy City girl. I’m the burbs now. I don’t extra 3000 dollars to remove him. I just want him gone. I don’t know the difference between the traps. Does it kill then or not? I don’t want him dead. He’s kinda cute. I just want him gone. Any advice would be helpful. My mother just had a stroke. I listening to see what she’s doing. I can’t be listening to a raccoon thinking it’s her. We used to be able to afford this. Not after the medical bills and the other adjustments we had to make to the house. Ranting. Any help would be so appreciated ❤
I use Duke dps after trying several brands. If you order them from F&T they are 120.00 American a dozen before tax and shipping. Dry cat food black licorice cherry cool aid dry cracked corn mixed works early. Later just cat food with a fishy oil on the lip later when it's colder.
From weak oldster. My bucket has a set of loppers with notches filled on the handle insides like a giant nutcracker . This can depress dps and conibears. Depress dps spring , set pcv safety in throat , set trigger. If on a run were you don't want to carry loppers I make big staples out of 32 inch long 1/4 rod ,sets traps and stakes down traps.
So is this kind of trap more for farm ,city would conibears be better for back country deep forest or does it not matter i have 160 conibears i have been trying to find square buckets in garbage in the city but no luck just wondering.Meattrapper had a video were the raccoons avoided the buckets and he was saying maybe if dog proof he would have got them .
Dukes make the best cuffs in my opinion and The T3 would be second. I got a dozen of each and the dukes never fail me. Having said that the T3 does well too I just don't like the trigger set up on them as much as a Duke and the coons seem to go to the dukes first too for some reason.
The Alcatraz DP trap is the best dog proof made. They are superior in construction, durability, and design. If you can find any, you will agree they are the best.
well, you can always catch pole and take out live, then dispatch elsewhere, i have always used a 22, it's legal almost anywhere if you are removing nuisance wildlife...
@@NBWildman Layer trap down sideways and push down hard on it with your weight and then put the PVC pipe in that’ll hold it from going off then you can take the little lever put it in place where it needs to be and the PVC pipe should fall out

I prefer the Z DP also for this style regardless of who makes it a large flat head screw driver works to set them.
unfortunately they are not certified for use here in NB, and the large flat is a good idea.

Duke DP work great!!! Started using them years ago and they are the way to go!!!
Agree, 100%
I really like my Duke dog proof. Where I live I tend to get opossums as well. It is a good solid performer.
Totally Agree...
I’ve caught many possum in my dp’s. Duke brand to me is the best by far.

100% agree I have tried several and always come back to duke

I was thinking you used a bunch the traps and was going to share the best one. Your favorite but it’s the only one you have. So ok

You forgot 2 other dog prof traps from freedom brand traps good job and video.
I only spoke of the brands and types that are certified for use in New Brunswick...
Nice video Thanks for sharing!
Thanks...and thank you for watching...
Duffer's trap works great. Doesn't need that much bait or lure when you bury it to look like a mouse or crawfish hole.
How many of these do you typically run?
@@NBWildman i run about 12 of them, 2 or 3 per location. You can set them before going out and they'll be ready to go
Please do a comparison of the no bs dp to the latest duke dp !

Are they effective? I have six alcatraz. Haven't made a catch yet.
Amazon has dukes 42 for 4 I think
thanks, i'll check that out...
@@NBWildman there's thers have good deals too
I like sleepy creak diablo dp
any particular reason??
Are any of these dog proof traps Made in USA?🇱🇷
I believe the Minnesota trap line bridger t3 is made in America
Freedom brand and sterling are made in USA. Minnesota brand carries them
How do you get the legs unhook or untrapped
just depress the spring from the outside and it loosens up the inside loop
What about the z trap with push/pull trigger
I only talked about traps certified for use in here in NB...never seen the z trap
and the swivel on the shaft makes three swivels
Yes, that's right, I should have mentioned that
What dispatch method do you recommend in a spot where a 22 is not an option?
well, you can always catch pole and take out live, then dispatch elsewhere, i have always used a 22, it's legal almost anywhere if you are removing nuisance wildlife...
You say you paid $24 for that trap you can go on f&t trapping website and get it 4th 12 to $13
yea i know i paid way to much, that's what happens when you impulse by at bass pro
I prefer a duke
Or a brigadier t3
i like the duke for sure
How do people dispatch the animal once caught? Shot to the head? I don't know. I have some nuisance raccoons that have got to go. Thank you.
.22 to the head or heart/lung area. Lights out!!
Easier setting useing a pvc to push inside
can you explain?....

I wish we could post photos on here I think it’s stupid that we can’t. Or maybe I’m just plain stupid and we can
