    Fantastic lesson. I really appreciate how clearly you set out the concept in terms of theory and then proceeded to apply the theory in so many practical and recognizable examples. Thank you so much!

    Thanks Jamie - your explanation and connection of the bVII7 to IV 7 and iv min7 have cleared up a lot of confusion. The examples are hugely helpful too - I can go and listen to them in context.

      Not sure if I specifically do gospel song lessons, but there’s nothing technically unique about gospel music that doesn’t exist elsewhere in jazz etc?

    is "backdoor" an officially recognised piece of musical-terminology or a name that you have created?

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  Місяць тому

      Yeh I’d say it’s pretty official. Especially in jazz theory. It’s not just me if that’s what you’re asking. ☺️

    Wouldn't it be easier to say that Bb7 is a version of G-b9?

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  Місяць тому

      No, I don’t think so?

    • @stevetaylor5815
      @stevetaylor5815 Місяць тому

      Well, all the notes of Bb7 are in Gminor flat9, but only three of them are in Fminor6, so it seems pretty plausible to me.

    Got lost in the first 2 minutes. I've never taken any music theory, but have been playing for decades. Lack of understanding on my part as I don't have enough basic knowledge. Sorry, will need to find a "chords for dummies" to be able to converse.
