The only thing missing from pretty much all your content are an extra 950k subscribers and likes. I think the tutorials you give are some of the best out there :D
Your lessons are incredible. I also just found out that there are 3 different levels and a total of 70 videos for blues guitar. Thank you so much for putting out this quality course for free. You are a legend!
Dan, loving this lesson. The issue I'm having is one I had with a former teacher. The second you digress into showing which pentatonic scale the lick is from I am completely distracted. I can keep up note for note until then. I get why you are explaining but I would rather think about that after I had the notes in my head. I've had to pause despite re-watching half a dozen times 😂
No way this video has this few views. The level of details is exceptional. You are a great teacher, after I finished this course I will buy something on the website just because you deserve it!
you are so amazing, you make it so easy for me to learn blues.. I'm constantly pausing your video because everytime you teach some licks I keep playing it over and over again because there are licks that came up to my mind.. thank you so much
I have been doing this blues lesson for about 3 weeks here , I’m 47 been playing all my life and so much is making sense. It helps to go back to square one and just Learn like it’s the first time… so much useful information i really appreciate you doing these lessons
Vibrato is something I have been working, since I started playing just 2.5 years ago, the BB course I am still doing along with this, a nice mix, just loving this course Dan , cheers
I've had a guitar since 1974, it was only until my son in law started to play guitar 15 years ago, that I thought to myself "I can't let this young teenager show me up!" Needless to say, I've since been thinking that I will never catch up with him because he plays so well! I have been really frustrated ever since, playing the same old songs to youtube videos, same old mistakes and driving the family bonkers! I really have tried to learn from youtube vids, but then I came across this fantastic "academy" and for me, this is proving to be "the missing link!" This is really working for me! I own some really lovely guitars which I'm so happy for, but I haven't been able to do the justice....I think that's going to change, thanks to you guys. It's the best, and I really mean it when I say that in my mind, this is the most comprehensive guitar course I've ever tried on the net, nothing left out, and until now, all questions answered! Big thumbs up!
Hi Stephen, thanks for the kind words hopefully you'll be able to show him up in no time ;) Keep us updated with any progress that you make we'd love to hear how you get on! Fingers crossed your Son-in-Law doesn't find this course! :)
@@yga Thanks for that, will keep you posted!;-) He's already seen it, but he's way ahead of me. I've recommended this to a few people I know, thinking that they, like me, have picked up a few bad habits and as we have never had tutors, were playing things that we hear, not really understanding how we got there, this should fix it! So there you have it..thanks again!
Until this lesson, I think I can confidently say this is the BEST beginner blues guitar lesson I found on UA-cam for years. An Asian guy living in America find out the best blues training UA-camr is from British. It’s music makes people connect or the internet ?
I really enjoyed this thanks for making these videos really helping with my timing and just feeling like I'm jamming the Blues. Subscribing and thumbs up
Great lesson! I know all the boxes but not how to get licks out of them nor link them together like this. Plenty for me to work on from this one video alone! Thanks
That was indeed a great lesson. Really good instructions and insight. How do you only have 50 k subs? Folks don't know what they're missing. So basically I'll be able to improvise after finishing the course? Keep doing an awesome job!
Hi there. Greetings from portugal. I am following this very enthusiastic course which I intend to continue. Can you please share the link for the e-book? I would like to study and practice the pentatonic shapes/boxes. Thanks for the attention. And for the amazing lessons.
Awesome man..! Still In process, pausing briefly. Great delivery..! Much appreciated..! Have you ever thought of ‘how to play like John Mayer..? Similar to some other videos..? I would say you have, but now you have someone else voting as well, lol..! Have a great one man..!
Thank you, we're glad you're enjoying it! We have thought about a Mayer course, so we did one! haha! You can find it here: yourguitaracademy.com/courses/john-mayer 🤟
I think you may have to join up to access it on their website. I may be wrong but i had to pay for the course to access some things i thought it said were free. Should be good value once i learn how to access it!!
Hello Dan! Agus from Madrid, Spain. Thank you very much for these fantastic videos. I think like Craig, I don't understand how you don't already have 950k extra subscribers. The videos are of supreme quality, helpful and the teaching method is fantastic. Really thank you! A question, the first time you play lick 2, right at the final bending (7.14 ''), how do you get that "strum" of muted strings just before the last bend note? Thank you very much! Muchas gracias!
Hi Agustin! Thank you for the wonderful feedback, we really appreciate that 🙏🏻🙏🏻 RE the “strum”, this is more commonly known as a “rake” and you do it by palm muting the strings with your right hand and then releasing the palm mute when you hit the target note! Hope that helps a little 🎸🎸
Thanks for all the awesome content! Bit slow on the uptake, as it was released two years ago, but neer too late. Q: with what/how do you mute the B string in lick 1? If I mute it with my thimb, my pick gets stuck below the B string, If I mute with the palm of my hand, I can't release quick enough.
Hi Michael, You can mute the strings with your left hand as well as your right, so it looks like Dan is mainly using his index finger of the left hand to mute the B string here.
Dan, I just want to thank you and your team for all the great lessons. I have a question. Since the RIFF and lead are in 12/8 timing and I want to play the rhythm over the top can I still count in 4/4 timing for the rhythm or would I have to count 2 counts of 6 over each bar?.
I really struggle when trying to mute a string following a bend, like at the 5:50 mark. Bending in general is a challenge, and the extra step of muting complicates it even more. I’ll get there, slowly but surely.
Yes indeed, and it seems you’ll need to do step by step here... If the bends in general are a challenge, then that’s your focus - don’t worry about the muting, that will come later!
@@yga OK, today I spent about an hour working through these licks, and while I have a ways to go, I really made progress. The key was using the interactive tab, and slowing the tempo down to 50% (no lie). Once I was able to get through this section of the solo with sufficient accuracy, I moved up to 60% and was still able to keep time. Tomorrow I'll come back and see if I can get through it at 70% and maybe even 80% speed. I'm so thankful that I found YGA -- I've tried other guitar study programs, and for whatever reason, your approach resonates with me as well as anything I've found.
im gonna hang myself out there on this one but the GMinor shapes you are suggesting I get familiar with....where can I find that particular lesson? I'm hoping you have a lesson on this. something about the way you teach is clicking with me, thank you.

Hey there, I would say you could do anywhere from one song to a whole album. But when listening make sure you are actively listening and perhaps pick out a few small guitar licks you like and try to learn them as well! Hope this helps!
Hi Dan, in the ‘middle’ lick, do you slide from D to C with the same finger as you used for the previous G? I find that I can’t do that, I play G with my third finger and then move second finger over the third to do the slide. Should I try to fix this, or is it okay like I play it atm?
Hey, yes in the video Dan slides using the third finger barring it over from the E string to the B string. Keep giving that a try at first but if it really doesn't feel comfortable for you use which ever finger you like :)
Dan, I just want to thank you and your team for all the great lessons. I have a question. Since the RIFF and lead are in 12/8 timing and I want to play the rhythm over the top can I still count in 4/4 timing for the rhythm or would I have to count 2 counts of 6 over each bar?.

Agreed! How can we find them?!? 🤣🤣
Must be something in UA-cam’s algorithm because I’ve been watching guitar lesson videos for many years and only found yours today in April of 2022
This is perhaps the best electric blues guitar course I've seen so far, in terms of both playing and teaching.
Your channel should be 10x bigger my guy. I'm learning a lot, and I really appreciate you.
top notch player, top notch classes. I'm lucky to have known YGA.
Thank you so much dude!! Enjoy the course 😀😀
It's always a real fun to follow your courses. I have being addict for a while. Thanks for your good mood too. 🙂
It's amazing to learn the guitar from scratch with you after 5-6 years of drug abuse and not playing music!

African American music from jazz and blues to hip hop has revolutionised music world wide, amazing legacy.
Very nice lesson.

Do you have a lesson on string raking?
