Morning mate.. what a great fix.. I thought the metal bar would work at first but your fix was better.. good to chat to you last night.. take it easy my friend
Those intake tubes were a flaw in the rubber material they used . I ran across one awhile back ( the rubber tube ) while looking for something else , must have saved it for that reason . 🤔 good job
Very nice job sir! Now if that were my own personal mower I’d probably lose the tank/shroud unit and put on a separate tank and an oval air filter setup like the ones used for Toro. It’s also possible the round Craftsman air filter style would fit under the shroud if you wanted to keep the cover on there but I like it better without. Thanks for taking us along, always great to see another Tecumseh get saved!
Not a bad fix Bruce. Finding that piece of hose may be impossible. All I could think of would be a rad hose 90 but I think your fix will last for years. Nice mower though. Thanks. Stevo
If there's cracking or checking not covered by the heat-shrink, you might try liquid electrical tape on that part. Paintable latex might seal it too, but I have no idea how well it tolerates heat.
Nice work 👍👍 I watch and enjoy all your videos. I've seen a number of them now where you work on mowers on that raised platform. Great little stand to save the back for sure. However, each time you start up a mower I always think that it would be much safer for you if the mower was secured to the platform to prevent it from jumping off ( due to vibration). Could create a pretty bad situation if that were to happen! Thoughts???
OK, this week I have replaced the fuel tank, fuel hose, new furl filter and cutoff. Also changed the oil and oil filter on the riding mower. This afternoon I also ordered another carb for the push mower. Gas doesn’t last any more without Stabil. This wasn’t easy for me with my limited vision. I’m going to try and replace the carb myself. May need to get new glasses for my fingers (LOL).
Hi Bruce. I know this will surprise you LOL but I have that exact engine in one of my buildings, same cover , same filter. I can't remember what shape the boot is in. The blade end of the crankshaft is only an inch long so I can't really use it on anything. It's been in that building for probably 16 years. Anyway great job as always getting this old dog running again
How to make due Bruce nice save we know how old that machine is ! Two pulls take it 👍 Just curious did you find another cable or able to lube that to get it to work ?
I can't think of the last time I saw a mower with spoke wheels. Retro cool
Yes The owner likes it for a bumpy lawn.
@@BrucesShop big wheel mowers are great that way
Big wheels keep on turnin'
Carry me home to see my kin
@@haneyoakie14 Skynard, very nice. 😁 plays back to being a kid in Florida
Ive never seen wire wheels on a mower before, quite like it. Nice repair on the air intake.
Thanks 👍 I have a set of spoke wheels hangin in the shed.
Well done Bruce, your niece sounds sweet
Thank you kindly She is smarter than the rest of us put together.
Well done Bruce
Thanks Henry.
That was some good on-the-fly engineering.
Right Another prototype on the fly.
Morning mate.. what a great fix.. I thought the metal bar would work at first but your fix was better.. good to chat to you last night.. take it easy my friend
Thanks 👍 Always great to catch up.
Nice old mower, good job on the intake tube. That sure looks like a cast aluminum deck, you don't see those much anymore.
Thanks 👍 I think it is

Thanks for the info

You now I never thought bout the different filter until I edited the video.
Great engineering Bruce I like a challenge like that.Keeps the brain active. All the best to you all.
Thanks, you too!
Good to see you getting some use out of the tool
Yes, thanks
Good job there
I had a old toro with a 1987 Tecumseh on it. That found difficulty to work also
Yes they are different.
Nice job and video Mr Bruce, like Bill, it's been a while since I've seen wire spoke rims on a push. 🙂👍
Right on. I have seen about 3. Not that many

Folks seem to like the spocked (spelling) wheels.
Dang it Bruce, another great video.
Well thanks Barry

That was a good one why I like that little machine thank you for the video
Glad you enjoyed it
good save on old stuff
Thanks
Hey Bruce did you ever work on a mower that had a crank on the top to start it. I remember having one when I was a kid.
No but i did have one that would a spring up after it was started. for the next start, Very dangerous spring in there!!!!!
@@BrucesShop VERY dangerous! Back in the day technicians get hurt screwing with them.
Great job sir have a great safe weekend sir
Same to you. Did I hear the launch is next week?
i had one with the same cover intake issue bad design . switched out the tank an air cleaner to newer junk parts
I get it.

You are absulutly right. I am starting to lower it a bit so ot doesn't become a helicopter.

That is a good line. Glasses on my fingers. Sorry your eyes are giving you trouble.
Mr Bruce, I’m legally blind because of AMD. By the way I’m in Central Texas.
Deadman cable was new for 1990 I think. So it must be newer than 1987.
Good point. Thanks.
Damn, you are good. 🤣
Micks favourite.

Thanks for sharing. Great to hear from you Dave
I always look forward to your videos and have learned so much. Is the part you made the crankcase breather tube? Was it made of rubber ? Thanks again.
The part i made was the actual connection between the carb and the filter.
did carb have screw holes that matched the later adapter for horizontal air filter?
Yes. Of course when I finished it and sent it to the owner i thought the same thing. Use a new filter assembly!!!
Bruce, I’ve been using Threebond 1184 for all sorts of things and I think it would probably have worked to repair that intake boot as well.
That is a great idea. What I did worked but didn't look that good. Thanks I will use it!!!!!
Bruce i want one of that cable remove tools!!! where can i get one from 😊
It was given to me ?? Sorry From BSS Small Engines.
How to make due Bruce nice save we know how old that machine is ! Two pulls take it 👍 Just curious did you find another cable or able to lube that to get it to work ?
I just turned out the connectors about 2 turns on the conduit part to give me a bit of tightness on the wire cable.
20:50 prime for a good time!
Thanks Tom
8:15 Bruce - you do open heart surgery? I got a new client for you.
I will have to say not. :-)
Dr Bruce does yell "Hemostats Stat" a lot...... that might qualify him. 🙂
Looks like 1982 was the kill switch regulation, not1990 like I thought. So 1987 is probably correct.
OH. I looked at the engine serial # They don't give you the decade. It has electronic ignition so it is after 1982
How about Heather hose
I think he meant heater. :-)
See that the older ones just keep running ,not like the China junk of today .
So true. The ones from overseas run great for about 3 years then stuff just starts to happen. IMO
I have one of these mowers and can't figure out how to get the fuel line out to be replaced. Any videos on that process? It would be a huge help.
If yu can get the carb off that would help I thnk. I did this job last year. sorry
