Don't cut your strap, take it to a cobbler with the hardware you want. A cobbler will be able to take the strap off and add the hardware making the strap detachable
If you decide to do it don’t cut strap just un sew it you can always glue it back on with the E6000 glue I did that to the nolita then I re glued it and you can it even tell I think I have a video on it . Still watching ..
