    Datsyuk has the best hands the NHL has ever seen. Hands down (pun intended). There are a lot of guys that can dangle. Kane, Johnny Hockey, Giroux.... just none of them could do it during this era. The era where you get your head knocked off if you try skating up the middle. He could do that. The other guys would've gotten blown up back then.

      Not bringing him back was a terrible mistake. I don't care that he's in his 70's. He has far more passion and energy than Sean McDonagh, who has the personality of burnt toast.
      And for a whole generation of Americans, his was THE voice of hockey.

      I used to be a huge Thorne fan back in the late 80’s through the early 90’s. But then he started making himself bigger than the games he was calling, with his excessive and unprofessional screaming after a big play happened. I’m not saying that it was necessarily intentional, but it but it was enough to make him intolerable for me.

    And I think this Pronger’s first game back after tearing his ACL when he tried to run Stevie & Stevie ducked it, and Pronger ended up awkwardly making contact/tearing up his knee. Lesson: Don’t f**k with Stevie!

    8:09 gets me in the feels a few ways. In the middle of this brutal bruise-fest, the freeze frame of Shanny's face is reaction of a genuine mistake, and then his regret on the bench is nonverbally saying "damn, I hope is okay. where's my penalty?"
    I remember watching this live with my dad wondering how we got away with no penalty. Now I wonder how I took such high-caliber hockey for granted; despite being a Wings fan at age 7, I knew that the no-call HAD to be answered for somehow...and that dad definitely hated Pronger for SOME reason. Spectacular game. TY for the upload!

    Great skills at display here. Datsyuk and Zetterberg skating around slow goons like Pronger. Shots by Lidström and Fedorov right in the top corners. And, finally, the most talented, underrated and impressive player of all time has to be Tomas Holmström. He has to be the most cross-checked player in NHL history. I can skate and handle, so I am not that impressed with stick skills, but I could never, in a million years, take to beating without retaliating like Holmström. I am so impressed by this ability to keep calm. To me, Holmström belongs in the HoF for this, along with his mastery of screening the goalie.

      No question about the skill level of the players on that Wings team. Calling a first ballot Hall of Famer like Pronger a goon, however, defines credulity.

    • @MrClebophd
      @MrClebophd 2 роки тому +1

      @@djzarrick Perhaps, goon is a bit harsh. Brute might be a better word. Pronger was slow, and used his size and strength (often with unlegal means). Hacking and slashing a lot when he couldn't skate as fast as the forwards. He played during the cluch-and-grab or wrestling era of hockey. I guess that different people have different view of the game. I like speed and skilll. Hacking, slashing, grabbing etc - not so much...

    Hockey so much better to watch back then. Teams really disliked each other. As a blues fan, I hated Detroit because they would simply toy with the blues

    Hi from Russia
    Osgood was in STL) He always associated with DET for me. I was Red Wings fan that time. A lot of russian players was in Detroit in the late 90s in the early 00s.
    About the match... That was tough) 21:35 "Come on... you and me...
    P.S. But the way, what do you thinks about situation in Ukraine?

    • @Koll-Manee
      @Koll-Manee 2 роки тому

      I think its a tough situation cause nobody knows what is really going on in Ukraine but I still think what Russia is doing is wrong but don't get me wrong there's a lot the USA did that I don't support like almost every war in the middle east. I only support the gulf war cause of what Saddam did to Kuwait.

       @Koll-Manee Situation is simple. Ukrainians are brothers for Russians. Many Russians have relatives in Ukraine (me too). But someone wants to quarrel Ukrainians with us, from the moment then SSSR broken.... And he did it((

    Referee should have called the game at the .59 Sec mark. Bues should get a massive fine,
    they were out to really hurt someone.
