What I'm interested in is forward-looking sonar, not side or down. Anyone doing that at a reasonable price? Looking down won't help me after I hit the coral head. :-)
I seen one ,it cost about $1400. (Over 10 years ago),,as I remember,it could do the sides, plus up to 1200ft ahead,,,at the time for me,that was still a lot of money,,but then I remember when a radar was around $30,000. We’ve come along way in technology and affordable price,,I wouldn’t sail to Maine without radar and sonar,,,a lot of rocks and fog,,
Just put a Panoptix hull-mount into service with my 8610. It's not cheap, but good stuff rarely is. Panoptix transducer will run you about $1500, installation will involve a haul out and cutting into the hull--several hundred dollars minimum, plus installation of 8610 unit. I consider it money well spent. One grounding would set me back a lot more, and by being able to see ahead, I reduce that risk considerably.
Hey John, Great to see you ...................YAR!!
Great video on these Garmins
Thank you for showing
I learn’t a lot on them
I’m excited to see how good the maps are. I just got an 8616. I’m gonna link them to two 1222’s
Hello, I would like to know how many extra displays you can use both with the garmin 8616 MFD?
How do you change the font size?
What's the difference between 8600 and 8400 series?
