When my children were young it was right after my divorce and I was looking for a place to rent. I didn't want an apartment if at all possible and with limited funds I was scared. I saw a for rent sign in front of a older house and the owner was there at the time. She told me someone else was interested plus had a deposit. I told her to give me the weekend to clean the house, paint and come back Sunday evening. We (kids) painted every room, scrubbed floors, windows and mowed the lawn. She ended up lowering the price if I helped her on other rentals with cleaning and it saved my life.
I think this is my favorite renovation so far! 😂 The care, imagination and love they put into the little hovel made it a lovely home. I had money issues and no place to live with my daughter many years ago. I got a Kitchenette with a bathroom for $325 a month. I turned it into a little showplace lol ( spent the most on a nice hide a bed couch) . My daughter and I still have fond memories of that little place.

There is an old saying...You cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear. In this case its wrong. This family made a nice little home for their family from a slum dwelling. Amazing how a bit of effort can pay off. 🤗🤗🤗

A friend of mine told me that a lot of old houses / cheap houses in Asia don't have a lot of insulation, mostly because that helps during the summer heat, keeps the house from getting too hot? I'm not sure. But, houses that are fully insulated tend to cost a lot more money. Or so I was told.

One big pro tip for you, you don't need to color paint wood, that is one material that 90% of the time doesn't need colored paint from any other color than white or black. Wood is beautiful on it's own, all you need is to sand it to remove the dirt build up and finish it with lacker or varnish.

I don't actually know for sure. It appears the people who own the property let people rent from them at a very low price for a year at a time. They know the tenant will fix up the property for them so it is a good deal for both of them.
Nice job. Instead of all the stuff on the walls & cabinets in the kitchen. I'd worry more about a small refrigerator & some sort of hot plate or microwave. What you actually need in a kitchen.

Just because finances or circumstances dictate that you live in a slum doesnt mean it has to look like you live in a slum. Superb job!

Paint the edges first leave to dry they paint the rest it's quicker that way I found that out from my partner.
