Everyone is different. I've been told that it's not good to overwash your locs, However, I wash my locs once a week, & a couple of times a week when I work out. I've had my locs for 7 years, & they are on my tailbone. I do love the rosewater to moisturize my locs, (if not plain water) & coconut oil/olive to moisturize as well. Especially because I wash my hair frequently. Going a month without washing is nasty to me. I wouldn't go a month without washing my body, or ny clothes, I can't see doing that with my hair, but to each his own.
Hi I love your videos. I don’t use any oils on my Sisterlocks. Just Rose water. I’m only 18 months in. So far I don’t have any dryness. My hair is naturally soft, and was that way before my locks. I spritze my Sisterlocks almost every day (lightly with water) and they are still beautiful and very healthy. I also use a Black hair rinse for my grey hairs. No issues!

+Nicole Buchan you have a different hair texture. When you have coarse, dry hair, constant washing causes breakage. This is why those with locs utilize other options for hygiene and moisture.
Gross is lice which we don't get even when we don't wash our hair often. We don't produce excessive oils so no need to "wash" everyday or even every week. Don't be stupid and post stupid comments when you are clueless. I know plenty of pale people with locs and they don't wash often either.
G. Michelle McCardell hi! Thanks and I also used to have dry scalp, severely actually. For a while I went through every product I could find in stores trying to get rid of it, but they would do more harm than good. I work out 5 times a week as a martial arts instructor so you can imagine the I sweat lol. Ive gotten rid of the dry scalp (I thought it was hereditary) by simplifying the products I use. Retwist with oils only, when I curl or style I use rose water vitamin e oil, treat my scalp with vitamin e and tea tee sometimes coconut, jojoba, and olive oil that's it. I know longer deal with dandruff and dry scalp (thank goodness it was so bad it burned) and for sweat i wrap my hair in few layers off of my neck, the closest layer to my scalp is a microfiber head wrap to wick moisture. There isn't any unwanted scent, Hope this helps :)
+Nicole Buchan I swear, the nerve of some nonblack ppl to comment on black hair. There are white, and nonblack girls in general, on youtube just now finding out that they shouldn't wash their hair everyday, yet before youtube many of you were saying how "gross" not washing your hair everyday is. Nothing gross about it. We have different hair textures, and are different ethnicity than you, so how do you have the balls to come up to a video that doesn't pertain to yo u in the slightest, and call what another race does to their hair "gross" just because they don't do the same practice as someone with your hair texture? I swear some of yall be sounding like your ignorant, racist, ancestors/grandparents/parents.
Thank you for your videos!!! Every time I get discouraged I look at your videos to remind me that have patience is very important in my hair journey in having healthy hair and locs.
That rosewater and vitamin e mix is everything. I add a little glycerin to mine, my hair is usually dry when natural and this mix has solved that. Thank Yannie! Love your nails girl.
It's always so educational watching your videos. I love them!! I just went to your website and read every line, and now I know how I want to change my regimen: - I will now do hot oil treatments more regularly instead of just once in a while. I will aim for weekly. - About twice a week, while showering I would let the water just run through my hair for about a minute or so, but I won't do that any more. I didn't realize how drying it was because after drying my hair I would oil my scalp with coconut oil. - I only shampoo my hair once between re-ti sessions, that will stay, but I will make sure a hot oil treatment is included. - I will now include rose water in my scalp regimen and I just ordered some so I can start that immediately. Thanks so much for sharing all this knowledge!! xxx
@Yannie the Locologist - I love watching these videos. Only just started, after a friend sent me one. I just started growing my locks about four or five years ago, and living in the West of Scotland, and being brought up with a white Mum, I didn't have a clue how to proceed. (I don't know anyone else with dreads) Your videos are very informative, thanks.

Its ok. Tbh ive always used oil and distilled water in my locs to retwist and find this not that much different. Except Its gives a great refreshing smell but i would only spray it on in the morning if going out so it can dry. The rose water can smell quite rancid if you spray it then say, tie your locs down for the night. Ive mixed about half and half with sweet almond oil in a small spray bottle. not personally noiced any more softness on my locs but will add a little glycerin. May work differently on you. I say go for the ktc what have you got to lose, any product fit for human consumption has to be purified in someway better than pre mixed, black hair shop rubbish

I'm letting it grow out and have about between 5 and 6 inches of new natural growth. Even before seeing your vids I have vowed to myself to be patient and LET IT GROW until most of the blonde gone.
Hi Yannie I just wanted to let you know that I made some rosewater with vitamin E oil and Almond oil to moisturize my loc's. Thanks for sharing that information about what to use to moisturize my hair. I haven't embrace the semi-free form style yet but I don't re-twist often maybe every two months and now that it is cold outside I only wash once a month. So I'm confused is it ok to do the oil treatments on my locs? And did she spray the locs before rolling in this video or just the scalp? Please clarify I'm really trying to learn the proper moisturizing technique.

If you are just starting your locs can you use oil on the scalp and the actual hair then just put it on the scalp once youre somewhat locked? Since you moisturized natural hair I figured you would treat your starter locs the same cause theyre not locs yet
Just oil the scalp. That's what I do I'm 7 months. I use grapeseed oil, cinnamon, lavender, and lil Netwurk 21 solution. The other days rose and grapeseed oil
Ive been on a marathon watching you. Thank you for the sincerity that you bring on camera & pure wisdom. So, I have to make some changes to my regimen.
Rosewater is fine but for sisterlocks clients leave out the oil and use only use on the tips (if hsir is loose) otherwise just rosewater until it is mature or fully locked. Oil will cause slippage in interlocked microlocks that are not fully locked.

That is the most beautiful locks I have seen . So, what about caring for twist . Can you tell me how to treat a itchy scalp. Thank you.
This was so helpful. I go to the gym 3x a week as well as having a physically demanding job.
Ive been on a marathon watching you. Thank you for the sincerity that you bring on camera & pure wisdom. So, I have to make some changes to my regimen.
d Trini accent was so good to hear. and well d flag was a nice touch
Whewwwwwwwwwwww. Her LOCS ARE GORGEOUS 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. She is, too.
How often should you spray your hair with the mixture?
That smile, and your eyes.. speechless.
How that’s gonna work if I’m Castro oil I mean I don’t wanna mix those to ? And where can I find rose water ?
You can make it (rose water) or buy it on Amazon. I’m told that heritage is a good brand.
You can order the Rose Water from Amazon
Health food store/beauty supply
I'm sure you have found it by now but for those that are still looking. Any beauty supply store or amazon. You find damn near anything on Amazon.
Wow her hair is beautiful 😍
Rosewater is fine but for sisterlocks clients leave out the oil and use only use on the tips (if hsir is loose) otherwise just rosewater until it is mature or fully locked.
Oil will cause slippage in interlocked microlocks that are not fully locked.
Can we use aloe vera juice?
Am literally taking notes 📝. Thanks for the info, now i know what NOT to do with my son's locs🙊
I’m Trinidadian too!!! Definitely subscribing plus i need new tips and stuff for my locs !!!
are you saying, use rosewater and vitamin E mix on the scalp only or on the hair only or both?
Mix both together in a spray bottle and spray it on your locs..
Where do I purchase the best organic rose water without other additives?
@@38luvme I get mine from a health food store or you could go to whole foods to buy it directly. Most people order it off Amazon..
@@dayanahmaahzhnahyasharahla7606 How often, though?
@@rynerlute7510 I usually spray my locs in the morning and before bed.
Simply beautiful. Learning so much by binge watching Ms. Yannie’s videos 💕✨
I use aloe juice
