I practiced Judo for 4 years I earned a brown belt and my instructor was from the Kodokan in Japan!It was a tough sport and I still have lumps on my fingers that formed scar tissue from grabbing lapels ! My instructor Takashi spoke very highly about the great Kimura and told me stories about him,Takashi was a great instructor he was a man of few words and was a funny guy ,he made me laugh often!The day I quit Judo was a very sad day for me but my body suffered many injuries and it was time to start fishing!But I learned many good life lessons during my 4 years in Judo!Thank you Takashi and KImura for motivating me and making me a stronger Judoka and a good person!

In 4 years? Wow you we're a fast learner. Did you ever try anything to avoid injuries like wrapping or compression sleaves? It's always the same injuries in Judo there has to be a way to avoid the bad ones. I'm in my mid 30's and I have to go back I'm just worried because I'm old now but I love this art so much I'll regret it for the rest of my life if I don't try again one last time.
@zartic4life mainly shoulder injuries and neck injuries ,you know getting thrown getting your arms yanked on and hitting the mat alot, good luck with your judo journey just take care of yourself we only get one body.
@@davidduvall4846I had to leave judo after about 14 months of joining as My Shoulder Suffered Major injury. My AC joint at Shoulder Got separated completely, It means My AC ligament and Coraco-clavicular ligaments were torn completely , Thanks to a reckless Partner. He Jumped on to my shoulder after the throw without any reason to do so ,in 1 -1 alternate partner throw Practice. I had to Undergo Surgery. 1 Ligament is Reconstructed and Another is Replaced With an Artificial Tape and A Metallic Endobutton. Injury costed me money ,time and My Normal Life. But I still Love Judo. But I fear..and Still feel pain in that region sometimes. Shoulder has Gone weak, which used to be very strong. Do u have any experience about such condition. Any Suggestion on your part? Is There any safe way to still practice and Learn judo?

The Japanese must have loved this guy. I remember training judo, if you were a big guy, coach always made smaller players go against you. Coach figured if a small judoka could execute a move on a bigger opponent, then similar sized opponents will be easy!

It's been a year and I still come back to this video. It gives me inspiration. My judo has been a lot better. I recommend for everyone to follow kodokan old school judo, to understand the philosophy behind this wonderful art.
It's 6 months since my previous comment, this is just more for me in the long run. My love for Judo has outweighed my love for BJJ (and that's because I started doing BJJ first). I would really like to travel to Japan and truly learn judo, I don't care if I live in a crappy apartment or don't have enough money to eat good, all I want is to experience Judo at it's truest form.
Now many nations are strongly competing with the japanese.. central asia, europe, russia, georgia azerbaijan and many others... it is very pleasant to see how this wonderful art is spreading

I started judo about 15 days ago... I'm not giving up until i become at least black belt. I'm determined to do the right thing. Well cya for 2 years when people will ask me if i kept doing judo ill try to tell you if I don't forget 😂
Hoje já não. Se tem atletas para treinar como verdadeiros samurais eles não aquentar treino. Só querem sombra e água ficam mas sentado do que treinando no dojo. Eu sou das antigas do judo e do ju jutsu. Venho de uma linhagem de lutador. Muitas e muitas vezes meu mestre me, apagava nos treinos. Por que eu queria mais é mais. Hoje continuo com os meus treinos no meu lar. Por que não encontro a tretas a altura para treinar. Já na terceira idade treinando como nunca. É vou leva para toda os meus dias esse espírito de querreiro. Samurai Os verdadeiros campeões não pressisa lutar por que já são vencedores. Procurando manter o equilíbrio a moral e a ética da arte suave judo. Jujutsu mas de cinco décadas de treinos. Nas artes marciais.
@benaldridge6341 super late, sorry, but yes that presumption is demonstrably false. Jigaro Kano, the founder of judo, was an educator at heart and explicitly wanted to share judo internationally. Judo in Japan and abroad was never and still is not today some secret scroll type martial art where techniques and teachings are jealously guarded like a dragon hoard. Cross training and community is encouraged!

Hoje já não. Se tem atletas para treinar como verdadeiros samurais eles não aquentar treino. Só querem sombra e água ficam mas sentado do que treinando no dojo. Eu sou das antigas do judo e do ju jutsu. Venho de uma linhagem de lutador.
Muitas e muitas vezes meu mestre me, apagava nos treinos. Por que eu queria mais é mais. Hoje continuo com os meus treinos no meu lar. Por que não encontro a tretas a altura para treinar. Já na terceira idade treinando como nunca. É vou leva para toda os meus dias esse espírito de querreiro. Samurai

@benaldridge6341 super late, sorry, but yes that presumption is demonstrably false. Jigaro Kano, the founder of judo, was an educator at heart and explicitly wanted to share judo internationally. Judo in Japan and abroad was never and still is not today some secret scroll type martial art where techniques and teachings are jealously guarded like a dragon hoard. Cross training and community is encouraged!
