i havent seen anyone point this out yet lol but fabian's character art this episode closely resembles gilear's charachter art. they have the similar pose and facial expression, love the details 🤣🤣🤣
It is such a powerful point of character development, and I wish I could someday have a character go through something similar. Unfortunately my group just doesn’t like to play high fantasy let alone dnd. 😂

When Captain James took a shot at Fabian around the 58 minute mark he was still in the Row wasn't he? Seems the other brawlers would have taken issue with someone using a weapon.
@ I believe so, and even if he didn't, Mind Flayers are crazy powerful. Brennan played him incredibly sub-optimally (a pirate / combat themed rather than flying around and blasting everyone) - and Rules as Written the Mind Flayer should have eaten Gorgub's brains the second he dropped to 0.
the combat in this episode felt so much longer than any i’ve watched before 😵💫😂 also it gives me so much vicarious satisfaction to hear Adaine refuse to give her family an inch of leeway lol
Yeah nothing feels longer in D&D than a scenario that goes the wrong way, especially in fights with a lot of parties involved. Even it's probably technically shorter since a lot of players are skipping rounds, it just feels longer since so much more time is spent outside of the players turns.
I started season 1 a week ago knowing it was 5 years old and I had a lot to binge and I literally just noticed now that this is one month old. I am not prepared to catch up and no longer have this to rip through lmao

1:45:58 I have the exact same problem. I’m a barbarian (level 4 but still) I have a rapier that does 3d8 instead of 2 on a crit and for some reason I CAN’T SEEM TO CRIT
The first time I saw this episode live, it fucked me UP. I had no idea that my trauma was still that raw, but Adine being locked away and unable to escape, have atonomy, or get away from her abusive father just... hit me like a ton of bricks. I was feeling all the emotions of a younger me and they were overwhelming to the point of an anxiety attack. I felt desperate to help her despite the fact that she wasn't real. Knowing she was there just made me sick to my stomach. That space of time between this episode and the next was HARD. I literally had nightmares of my own trauma most nights. I know now that it was so raw because my dad treated me the same as hers down to being over controlling, cutting me off from any outside support, not allowing any moment of privacy (he literally took my door off the hinges), and beening deeply verbally abusive (this was still happening even when I had to stay with him as an adult after I lost my place in a breakup) and I had only been away from him for 9 months (and would continue to talk to him on the phone for 2 years after until I finally went no contact). At first, I was upset at the show for not having trigger warnings, but I was deep in trauma brain territory by then (I'm also autistic which contributed to my issues plus I was sick with bronchitis at the time). The wait until the next episode kicked my ass, but seeing what happened next helped. I guess it's a testament to how great they are at storytelling that they were able to break me that much. It's been four years. I think I'm doing better than I was back then. I went through a program for people with PTSD, I see a therapist, and I'm on an antidepressant that works for me and have an as needed med for anxiety attacks. The part with Adine still hits a lot harder than I expected it too, but I'm okay and can appreciate the story for what it is instead of just seeing it through a trauma lense. I'm grateful for what the gang created and look forward to having my ass kicked once again for junior year!
I loved Adaine the most in this season because she is forced to face her trauma and worst fears (her family being more evil than she knew) and I really enjoyed how Siobhan handled the character development with Aelwyn and everything :)
I am so sorry you went through all of that sweetheart ❤ but I’m so glad that you’re safe and you’re continuing on from the trauma, and I’m so proud of you
At what point do we collectively decide that Lou's dice might be weighed? Like, clearly not in his favor, but it feels like his dice have an air bubble or something that's fucking him up.
@@Sirfinchyyy I remember I saw a video on this, but I forgot where. I know that you have to put a bunch of salt in a glass of water, I forgot how much but enough to make the dice float at the very least. And then you stick the die in there, and you roll it in the water by spinning it with your finger. Do this multiple times, and if it's weighted, it'll almost always roll the same numbers on the same side it's weighted against. Dice that roll any random number on any side of the die aren't weighted
I cant believe that guy called the cops on adaine lol. what kind of pirate does that? like idk, i feel like if i were a pirate i would absolutely not want a king with an extradition policy
This was probably the episode that suffered the most from lack of battlemap in the season. Though the finale was pretty hard to follow as well but that was a bit looser as well as the horrific video call from that time.
If they had died here they could have re-rolled new characters that exist in a post-apocalyptic esc version of this world after they effectively fail to prevent the big bad of this season
This whole episode is pure pain. Last episode was just so much crying and this one is just pain, pain and more pain. Riz comes in CLUTCH!!! And then more gut punches! AAAGGGHHHH!
it's only because it was livestreamed, most dimension 20 campaigns have even better minis and maps now than they did in season one, except for most of Aabria's campaigns and a couple others. I'm sure Junior Year has amazing quality maps.
I was kinda hoping they would put Jame’s head up with the old king, but instead of pinning it by stabbing through the tongue, they get like 20 knives and pin each tentacle to the mast
Even a block of cheese can be thrown! (No, but seriously, I agree, and that definetly was the point of losing the subclass. Fabian is usually so full of himself, and this choise reflects his mental state perfectly)
Idk man his dad’s dead, his mom dating a strange elf, he’s trapped on a boat with 2 groups of people both of whom are obsessed with because of his father. One group was super nice to him and then called him a failure because he didn’t kill his own father, despite the fact that taking his father’s life was a major plot point for him. And the other group lead by a man who will stop at no end to disparage his father’s name, and destroy him and what is left of his self-confidence. He’s also like 17. Idk mane I think it’s fair if he’s not doing so hot in 1 fight.
spoilers for this season's plot: love going back through and watching Brennan take every opportunity to try and heal the party to spread the infection. It's so genius. Of course the npcs just want to heal up the party because they just went through a rough battle! absolutely insidious on his part, but he played it so well. I didn't notice on my first watch through until much later but this time it was evident as soon as Ragh's story about prom night.

I love seeing these bad kids have grand and cool plans just to get their asses kicked 😭 Im just waiting for the end of battle nat 20 that changes the course of the battle like "I roll to come back to life" from the calvaxis fight
I dont think she really rolled a nat 20 there because the battle was all but lost and they didnt want to scrap the end of the campaign and leave everything hanging due to a TPK
That's kind of a crazy headcanon lmao, we know Brennan is willing to do something like that. (Also Ally uses they/them pronouns)
I love this series so much that I am getting a drop out subscription just for junior year
If you do, check out some other seasons too! The Seven is in the world of fantasy high with Brennan DMing but different players playing as The Seven (with Brennan still doing Zelda as an NPC)
A Starstruck Odyssey was great too with the same cast as Fantasy High and a similar vibe.
@@SomeoneOnlyWeKnow. yeah i’m watching the unsleeping city rn too! i love this cast and brennan as dm so i will for sure watch a bunch of stuff. thanks for the recommendations
i do recommend The Seven as well, since it's the same universe as Fantasy High and all the players got along so well :)
2:27:23 "I know, it was on the tip of my tongue"
It *specifically* wasn't
This series has descended into chaos and it is beautiful
i wouldve liked if they put up james' head next to the pirate king, as a way to show that that sort of behaviour is not tolerated and a way for fabian to not just put the crown where his father put it all those years ago and instead ADD to his fathers legacy
the amount of genuine hate i feel towards adaines parents and the other elves in the fight cannot be expressed in words.
The best NPCs make you feel...
REAL, I'm usually an elf PC enjoyer but in this fight I've never harboured so much hatred for elves XD
I am just going to have to sign up for dropout. This scheme is working.
i havent seen anyone point this out yet lol
but fabian's character art this episode closely resembles gilear's charachter art.
they have the similar pose and facial expression, love the details
🤣🤣🤣
8:30 Oh yeah it's very similar. That's a great detail
The sense of defeat after Whitclaw's 1st encounter reallly left a mark.
2:01:18 Technically, if you consider that a prophecy, she's still right if she doesn't consider that place home.
Fabian, my boy - i have been there. I once played a Paladin and during a crisis of faith i just gave up my subclass.
It is such a powerful point of character development, and I wish I could someday have a character go through something similar. Unfortunately my group just doesn’t like to play high fantasy let alone dnd. 😂
@@merri_spiderly6017 it's something that's very cool in retrospect - in the moment in the game you feel like shit ^^;
The lowest point defines the high points, im curious as to how your Fallen Paladin came back.
@@Sirfinchyyy i played him for 1 or 2 sessions without oath and i told my group that i wasn't sure how best to help them. I prepared a little ritual and made a little table to roll on to decide which way i go from there and the dice decided to go back to my original oath - which does have a strange poetry to it.
Everyone has such terrible rolls in combat compared to last season lol it's giving me so much more anxiety
My god, what an episode, really sold on the acting
Also if this ever got an animated series like Vox Machina, they should Chris Parnell to voice Galeer
Cathilda being so nice after Fabian’s terrible performance is peak parent figure 😂😂😂😂 I guess she had to be since his mother was basically a throw pillow his whole life but still ❤❤❤ love her
When Captain James took a shot at Fabian around the 58 minute mark he was still in the Row wasn't he? Seems the other brawlers would have taken issue with someone using a weapon.
Didn’t Brennan say on the Captain’s previous turn that he teleported (I guess Misty Step or something) up to the Ruction?
@ I believe so, and even if he didn't, Mind Flayers are crazy powerful. Brennan played him incredibly sub-optimally (a pirate / combat themed rather than flying around and blasting everyone) - and Rules as Written the Mind Flayer should have eaten Gorgub's brains the second he dropped to 0.
@@Poonchowrules as writen mind flayers dont have legendary actions either
@@Poonchow TBH, a Mindflayer might have gotten sick from Gorgug's brain.
They’re uploading the rest!!!! Junior year prep let’s goooooo!
When Fig/Emily says to her mom “did you see me drag that guy to hell with me?” I saw myself whenever I do something cool I wanna show my mom😂
Gilear at the end is such a mood. YOU'RE NO BETTER THAN ME NOW GIVE ME MONEY
the combat in this episode felt so much longer than any i’ve watched before 😵💫😂 also it gives me so much vicarious satisfaction to hear Adaine refuse to give her family an inch of leeway lol
Yeah nothing feels longer in D&D than a scenario that goes the wrong way, especially in fights with a lot of parties involved. Even it's probably technically shorter since a lot of players are skipping rounds, it just feels longer since so much more time is spent outside of the players turns.
It’d be awesome if Fantasy High got a cartoon remake like Vox Machina
It says something when Murph has the best rolls
Murph really had some bad luck in other campaigns, (unsleeping city comes out 1st in my mind.)
I started season 1 a week ago knowing it was 5 years old and I had a lot to binge and I literally just noticed now that this is one month old. I am not prepared to catch up and no longer have this to rip through lmao
Don't worry they were uploaded to the dimension 20 channel a lot later as promo for the next season. If you become a member of the dropout youtube Channel there's more of fantasy high
“Look you’re down here with me.”
“You’re rich and I’m poor, help me.”
1:45:58 I have the exact same problem. I’m a barbarian (level 4 but still) I have a rapier that does 3d8 instead of 2 on a crit and for some reason I CAN’T SEEM TO CRIT
2:01:30
Tell me young elf lady who is three times my age: why is Solis not my home, since it's the place I have grown up and lived in most of my life.
Currently rewatching this series with my wife, on episode 6 with the bar fight. If this isn't a sign, idk what is lol
Yes, my favorite episode is next.
"Chej!"
40:20 Siobhan being so annoyed with Lou's Dice that she gets herself a glass of water and cleans them. And it sorta works????
You know it’s bad when the DM covers their face and starts repeating “oh no,” twice in a bbeg fight
Glad you're doing better now!
I am so sorry you went through all of that sweetheart ❤ but I’m so glad that you’re safe and you’re continuing on from the trauma, and I’m so proud of you
@@zombioric5890
You are so sweet omg!
Yeah. Progress feels slow sometimes, but I'm doing my best.
I can't believe noone is talking about the quip Brennan made at the very end XD what a quick and funny response 😂
At what point do we collectively decide that Lou's dice might be weighed? Like, clearly not in his favor, but it feels like his dice have an air bubble or something that's fucking him up.
That’s actually a thing with lots of plastic dice due to factory imperfections. If you float it in salt water it will slowly turn to its favored side.
@@AzureImperium7701Xwow neat trick, thanks for sharing!
@@AzureImperium7701X OMFG i need to test all my player's dice from now on... how do you know if the dice roll fairly?
@@Sirfinchyyy idk. I assume metal dice are good, and fancier plastic ones may be as well. I assume the skew is small even if it does exist.
I cant believe that guy called the cops on adaine lol. what kind of pirate does that? like idk, i feel like if i were a pirate i would absolutely not want a king with an extradition policy
so true, probably one of the many reasons he was hated by the others around Leviathan
Any good, (but not great) pirate would take a chance to gain the favour of the great pirates...
God I love Ayda and Garty!
Would have been honestly super interesting to see.
Proper spelling of esc in this usage is "-esque"
This whole episode is pure pain. Last episode was just so much crying and this one is just pain, pain and more pain. Riz comes in CLUTCH!!! And then more gut punches! AAAGGGHHHH!
just sad that there are no more battles with figurines.. was so nice to see everything happening visually on the board
it's only because it was livestreamed, most dimension 20 campaigns have even better minis and maps now than they did in season one, except for most of Aabria's campaigns and a couple others. I'm sure Junior Year has amazing quality maps.
the whole scene with adaine and her dad at the end had me GAGGED the entire time
just got to her finding aelwyn. i am going to need several business days!
I was kinda hoping they would put Jame’s head up with the old king, but instead of pinning it by stabbing through the tongue, they get like 20 knives and pin each tentacle to the mast
55:12 The most guttural and enraged war cry one will ever hear
1:37:00
"Take our luck-take all our luck."
YOU SURE YOU WANT TO GIVE /ALL/ OF IT!?
😭😭😭
These last two episodes took 10 years off my life, jeezus 😅😅😅
Leave it to Brennan Lee Mulligan to have a Dubliners reference in a D&D campaign.
Captain james and his crew are no joke no wonder fabien couldnt best him with randos
The more I watch this, the more I think how the bad kids would probably be a group of power rangers in a different world.
I love it when Emily's "Noo Yawk" accent slips through.
I love how adine acts when confronted w her family it’s just ☺️
The imagery of Riz trying to remember hoot growl to cheer up Fabian was cute and funny xD
34:18
Lou’s single “yay” is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard istg 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Fabian was about as useful as a block of cheese in this fight
That's kind of the point
mmmm cheese
What a note to end on after the mess of that fight 😭😭
spoilers for this season's plot:
love going back through and watching Brennan take every opportunity to try and heal the party to spread the infection. It's so genius. Of course the npcs just want to heal up the party because they just went through a rough battle! absolutely insidious on his part, but he played it so well. I didn't notice on my first watch through until much later but this time it was evident as soon as Ragh's story about prom night.
C’mon man I was watching this for the first time, can you add some more lines after the warning here?
@@jackieoh6475I hope you’re not being serious. Literally the first line is “spoilers for this season’s plot,” and you kept reading. That’s on you.
Im watchin for the first time and SO CONFUSED but I guess I'll figure out what this is on about later- XD
14:00 figs shatter should’ve worked on the planks it’s an area of effect not a targeted spell plus shatter destroys non magical items anyway
It doesn’t instantly destroy it like glass or crystal but it still does damage to them like objects.
Love how Whitclaw was lowkey just doing all he could to get away from the Terminator that promised to eat him alive for hurting her boy.
I really wish they would go back to using miniatures for combat, figuring speed and distance is sometimes a hassle but it does make the combat more realistic in my opinion
As someone with aphantasia I completely agree
1:03:02 - Hot damn. I bet it's the, "Night Yorb" fresh chest ink influencing someone. I'm making a prediction here now: Night Yorb is a codeword for a Hangman possession, and why the Hangman warned against discussing it, poor guy prolly gets vertigo when invoked in the same room.
Golden moments this episode😂
Siobhan washing Lou's dice mid game because they were being mean
Ally following suit and washing their dice too
Emily being the epitome of "If I'm going down your going down with me!" this episode
Murph smiling from ear to ear: HELL YEAH, TAKE HIM TO HELL WITH YOU GIRL!!!
Kristen trying desperately to get the ice cream sandwiches to help her get out of stun
Cathilda's GLORIUS outfit!
Riz : I think I have a lot of friends sometimes, but then everyone's mean to me😐... at school you guys are cool👀❤
Gilear being incompetent and crashing the Hangvan trying to do a K-turn and passing out
HOLD ON- 1:03:47 THAT IS A 5 AND A 16 HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STEAL THAT CROWN!!
I was coming here to say the same thing. I watched it 4 times to see if I was missing something
I thought so as well, but the face up is the 6. It seems to be the 16 because of how the camera is tilted (it warps the floor a bit)
@@lauMiciaT Okay I'm still stuck on this LOL. He had to beat a 12, correct? And he rolled a 6 and a 5, making that 11, plus his modifier of 5 making it 16 total, right? I feel crazy rn.
Edit literally 2 mins later: I just realized he was rolling for advantage, not adding them together. WHOOPS lol. I replayed it like 10 times before I went back far enough to catch that part 😭
