"Living It Up" Lyrics:
My daddy made it out!
Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
Don’t let go
We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
I was born uptown
I’m the ghetto dream
Now ain’t life crazy?
My daddy made it out!
Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
Don’t let go
We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
I was born uptown
I’m the ghetto dream
Now don’t be lazy
Trench Town have a grandson
Growing up to be somebody
Gong to the Zilly
Yo mi flow phenomenally
I am the kind of thing that doesn’t happen normally
I’m a one in a zillion
Yo Doggy if you want some
Good life finally
Perhaps change your night time hobby
Come out of the old crime lobby
And benefit from your wisdom
Mi a gwan live it up life is better than great
Every other day mi voice a dozen dub plate
Put in our hustle we nuh sit down and wait
Tuff up unnu muscle now is never too late
Fi gwan celebrate inna rich people place
The little Rasta Man from Trench Town fly the gate
With food inna plate and drinks inna crate
We sing till the neighbor dem wake
My daddy made it out!
Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
Don’t let go
We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
I was born uptown
I’m the ghetto dream
Now ain’t life crazy?
My daddy made it out!
Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
Don’t let go
We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
I was born uptown
I’m the ghetto dream
Now don’t be lazy
Uptown Jamaica born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Burning Babylon and dem dirty ways
While watching all the rich kids gone a stay
Uptown Jamaica born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Big city life Kingston and Mo-Bay
And if you think mi sell out tell dem ain’t no way
So... Live it up Trench Town to Rema
Riverton, South Side to Jungle
Sherlock, Garden, to Spangler’s,
Payne Land, Three Mile to Back-to,
Portmore, Seaview, Spanish Town,
Nine Mile, Browns Town to Flankers,
Falmouth, West Side, Orange Hill
My daddy made it out!
Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
Don’t let go
We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
I was born uptown
I’m the ghetto dream
Now ain’t life crazy?
My daddy made it out!
Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
Don’t let go
We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
I was born uptown
I’m the ghetto dream
Now don’t be lazy

Love how this man took his son back to his roots. Love how he spoke to him and showed him everything !! Blessings 🔥this is what fathers are supposed to do and be like. True inspiration
Smh, Damien sounds just like his father.! ! One Love 🇯🇲.❤️💛💚
Seems as if he is avoiding kids from his kids and himself from the people of trench town, seriously!!!!!!no kids walking with his kids and no elders from trench town walking with him or around him.seems selfish and avoiding.
Seems like a awesome dad. Wait, what is this water coming out of my eyes rn
@@gogitto335 Hate as much as you want; doesn't help anything though
Private moment😎
This song is for his father and his son and shows the message to both. This has been my song, my inspiration and motivation since release. Big ups to Jr. Gong and young Jr. Gong!
Bob Marley is the epitome of generational wealth and legacy. He set such a high bar that his kids and grandkids can benefit tremendously. And to think he wasn’t even doing it for the money. Bless up yourself Bob the Legend!
So nice, father and son relationship. He says grandfather in such a loving way.
Beautiful message from a father to his son." People before us worked hard so we can be living how we are living, we have to give thanks".
Favourite line too
🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gratitude is a must🙏🏾
So true. ❤❤❤❤
95 percent of people are working hard and they will never afford a fucking villa or shit like that.
This is why I love Damian. In the beginning, when he was walking his son around, shows you just how down to earth he is ❤
Indeed
yeah, and then he went back to his mansion
@strangevisions5162 You can be rich and still be humble.
I’m just living it up 🎉
Smart little boy, asking questions and learning about his grandfather... 💔😢 If only he could have been around
Makes me miss my own grandfather. Wish I had a father like Damian.
I’ve been fortunate enough to see all the Marley boys live in concert. I’m blessed beyond belief. Living legends. Their father is looking down and smiling. Bless up! Respect!!
I just said same thing. Blessed
It's so amazing to see Bob Marley's son following his Legendary father's footsteps, it's fantastic to see his grandson being introduced in to the music, Bob didn't die, he lives through his children and grandchildren who carry the message till the end of time, JAH BLESS! RASTA FOREVER! PEACE! ✌️
Hes special his son can tell , thr all special blessed artists in a special land waiting for completion psalm 87.7 Jah bless us all :)
Perfectly said I always say this if he was alive he would be so proud
@@Godismyguide1980 I don't assume to know anything about anything, can't presume what the beautiful human being that was Bob Marley would've felt about this piece, I am happy for them because they look happy, I can tell you the symbolism displayed here has nothing to do with Bob Marley's message though and so, for me, it feels like a perversion to say that it does.
Big up Sistren. Jah blessings and guidance always. With love from Dearborn, Michigan
He still alive
I still haven't made the trip, but Jamaica is a bucket list destination.
Was mine too and did it this past June… I’m even more obsessed now than I ever have been ❤❤❤❤ it’s worth the trip
@@sherricenickeyclinton9227 which parts did you visit?
I love how he tells his son that grandpa got them out. So humble. He's crushing it in his own right but props still given where due. That's a real man. No shame.
Real talk
Bob is God! ❤
Facts!!
Shame tree bun down long time nuff respect one love❤💛💚
Big up one love
I like how Damian was humble enough to show his son where he came from not to forget what made a part of who he is.

Showing where it all started to the younger generation will make Bob Marley proud, and the legacy will continue forever !!

I love the positivity of this track. Thank you Damian.
2024 still listening to the legendary MARLEYS 🙏 BOW TO LEGEND BOB
Ain’t life crazy
“So Jah Seh. Not One Of My Seeds. Shall sit on the sidewalk and beg for bread” and this video is a TESTAMENT to brother Nesta’s word.
March 2024 and Im still listening to this song of the Great Damian Junior Gong❤❤❤❤ Elijah is gonna be a force to reckon with the next 10 yrs from now❤❤❤
daddy made it up out of the ghetto, jr gong really thankful to his father bob. - respect
Humble soul will pay dues where dues are due....
A faker, an oppressor, a hollow shallow one will deny it...
God is truth and only accepts truth n a fake man gotta deal with himself one time or the other...
Never gets old and that father son connection is powerful. Listen and enjoy.
Damian, Ziggy, all the sons and daughters, so special and appreciative and thankful. Honoring with Real soul and heart. Love you all.
Dad and son, there is no more beautiful sight. This song is more than just music. For me it is a mystical experience. So many strong feelings and vibrations.♥
This is why Marleys genes and music scene stay strong because people like his son Damian Marley showing his son where he was born and came from to show what they’re all singing about that’s a true father praise Jah!!!!! This man is a miracle
Attack on Titan
Amen!
Reporter taking an interview to Bob Marley, I think it was 1978 or maybe 1979...
Rep. : "Bob are you a rich man?" Bob : "When you say rich, what do you mean"? Rep: " Do you have a lot of money, or a lot of possesions?"
Bob : " Possesions make you rich? I don't have this kind of richness...
My richness is life...Forever".
This real talk i so remember this interview. Bless up and big up for this talk
What would Bob say to his son today about this Vedio of his?
Wow u nailed tht perfectly! I was thinking of the same thing when im watching the 1st 30 secs
@@mutaumayumbelo1233 I think he's like it - it's talks about the celebration of a historically oppressed and disenfranchised group of people that finally get to live a better life ...things are getting better - and just stay strong on the way ... It's a really sweet message with a catchy melody...
@@elenitampaka3723 for sure it is

Yall fighting in the comment section and missed that epic line from his son when he asked whats the difference between here and where you live and he said "legends come from here"

I wish that Bob Marley was here to see this he will be proud of his family keeping his legacy going on Long Live Bob Marley rest in peace One Love

I love this. The Marley's are just amazing positivity and enjoying every moment. I love how he showed his son where he grew up and how he is so blessed. That's how it should be live every moment to be fullest more people need to listen to the Marley's.
I was at Bob Marley's final concert on September 23, 1980, at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, PA. I took a dozen photos with my 35mm Nikon from the balcony. David Meerman Scott's photos from the concert were not the only ones!

To the ones hating on Damian's success are not real Rastas. You don't have to be poor to be Rasta. Speak positivity, truth and righteousness, share your physical and spiritual wealth, help the less fortunate and provide for your family and up lift each other it's what real Rastas do! Jah! Raaaastafari.
And tell me how the Marley's help the people. Educate me.
Real talk
@@crrhough they are not entitled to help anybody. They don't need to. It's their money and they decide what to do with it. There are many famous people who help the community without anybody knowing. They do it cuz they want to not because they want everybody know they help. The Marley's fame is the only reason Jamaican rastfari culture has been exposed to the world and its why Jamaica gets a lot of tourists. Them being in the position they are in right now is more helpful to the Rastafarian culture and Jamaica as a country than any of you hating jealous pieces of whining scumbags.
How dont they help the people hahahah they are the best
Shinigami Xdx haha..u schooled that person very well,his/her negative comments are everywhere..and I like the way you think.stay blessed
The King have lyrics, flow, melody, passion and he's so inspiring and humble passing on the knowledge to his Lineage. Loved it. RasPect. All the man on the donkey fawud a di party! Mad ting
this looks humble to you ? :D This is opposite everything he was singing about before. Pretty shameful. Its like he threw the monk robes and revealed his end game. I am very disappointed. I also wonder why are they all dressed in WHITE. The "oppressive" color. It's like the brothers getting a white woman when they make it. Sigh...
Autumn Breeze
Right... I dare you to find me a Marley song about the white man struggle :) . Also, that was not the main point. Compare this clip to the "Speak Life" video. See the contrast, Timmy ?
I enjoy his music as much as anyone, that doesn't mean I'm a fanatic and doesn't make him infallible. Your outrage is out of place, acolyte.
Larry Lucid we all white aren't related to colons, you know...
Larry Lucid I had an issue with the directive of the video. The white signifying wealth which is far from the truth . But I understood the song . Gong wasn’t so much interested in the video it appears . But then again he is just as white as he is black . So the thoughts is mixed .No pun intended
i dont live ghetto life or never been part of that. But this song motivates to improve my life. ❤
“People before us work hard for us to be able to live what we’re living “
*We are very blessed!* *We're singinging about grandpa getting out of the ghetto!* This is humbling and fills me with joy. Jah(God) gives and Jah takes! The Marleys deserve every dime they make! G'Bless!
Damians flow is unique. It's his trademark. Haven't heard a single bad Damian jr Gong song
This isn't a song its a literal story and if you don't see that I hope that you see it soon. 🥰
Beautiful showing the new generation of Marley dem roots. Love Gongzilla and his son.
Wow! Love how he started this video! Love that he told his son they are very blessed and showed his son where he grew up. Wow what he also said to his son at the end! Big Up Jr. Gong!
Song 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
It's a tale of two daddies - first Bob, and now Damian...making his own mark.
Honestly, I can’t start my day without this song! ❤️
Your father is smiling so wide seeing you and your siblings continue to make him proud!!!
We're are blessed to have such great artists like you, your brother, and the goat Bob Marley your father. We give yall thanks for continuing to share your experiences with us. One love too the Marley family
the Marleys have turned out to be thinkers of great wisdom and bless the world with amazing music. the Marleys are a god send to help humanity not destroy itself. just listen to the conscious vibe 🎵

I love that he included his son in this 💖💖
Glad to see he took his son where the roots is from
Jerone Henlon I don't know for sure but considering his family would he not of grown up pretty fkn wealthy?
a true reflection of "out of many one people". Proud to be a Jamaican.
I love to play this song on windy sunny days with my car windows all the way down. Its such a vibe
I don't think he's bragging he's celebrating we should all. Get there
We don’t need to sell our soul and be a sell out like him to get there
Jolie Aranda Bro he made his money legit quit hating
Jolie Aranda not everyone in the music business didn’t work to be where they are. He prob worked very hard to get where he is. If it’s so easy why don’t you do it. The whole song was to encourage us to reach towards out goals so we can be successful. He is using his experience to push us towards or dreams. There is nothing wrong with this video or him. Your just a hater and I understand you.....I am jealous too
Camille Robinson okay but he still a sell out
@@joliearanda6481 the hate is strong with this one smh. If you gonna point fingers and call names then drop facts etc to support your claim. The last i remember he was one of the few Marley's who didn't get any of his father's riches just his name because of a jealous hating wife

Much respect to Jr Gong! Your father would be proud. #marley
Yes he would
@roksteady not all the marley do the same thing Damian wanted to do something different like a different music
One of the most profound lyrical minds in the game...Salute Damian
In the game u mad!!!? Mean in the world
On a lyrical scale only one person even comes close to his profound skill...... Of pure 21st century poetry, dare I say, Marshall Bruce Mathers III......? Strip it all back to just a story telling level that I think all music should be about. All this modern day BS from likes of drake, ari etc is pure money making drival. The marley gang will make more of this song, in all aspects of life, then most of us will our lifetimes. The fact that people are even here commenting, good or bad, proves the untarnished legacy of the marleys will surely live on and on...... Ps to all real miss Mrs Mr Ms and Master marleys thankyou so very much for the happiness your DNA has bought me and my family I hope you leave a new generation of musical genius for my grand children to hopefully love and enjoy as much as my family do now much love
