At the age of 17, Iommi lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand (his fret-board hand, since he is left-handed) in an industrial accident on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory. instead of giving up guitar like most of us would he made thimbles of wax for his missing finger tips and create a new genre by down tuning his strings- HEAVY METAL

I saw them at Monza in the same year….these are some of the last performances of Dio before his sad passing. Both Dio and Iommi true legends, best of the best. That tone, that classic Iommi tone, so unique, so immediately recognisable.

Tony Iommi already creates all the metal riffs. Every other band since the 80s are basically just copying him. I would recommend Falling of the Edge of the World or Sign of the Southern Cross. Live from Radio City music hall. The riffs are just so mental.
Heaven and Hell are Black Sabbath with Vinny Appice on drums. They changed their name because they were only going to play Dio era songs.
