    Tanks for the nice comments, yes, newgraham is great to work with, but they might be out of stock on both teh 42 and 32 righrt now, you cna call them to ask when to expect a new shipment...just google newgarahm knives...

    Good video review. Currently carrying a 32 Morpho and I am satisfied. The knife is pretty much a folding paring knife - good for so many uses.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    In many cheapos, yes, the BM42 has a little square right below the sharpened edge above whats called the ricasso, thats what hits the handles when its closed so the blade doesn't touch the handles, so thats the kick in the case of the 42...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    Good point, I love the clip tension as it came new as well as the latch so I never had to mess with it...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    Yeah, its a nice combo, looks great and works even better!

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 років тому

    Yes I use to own both versiosn they made, the one was a BM40T same handles as the 42 but witha traienr blade then the newer version which they still make is the BM40TR which is the same as the BM40T only it has powder coated red handles...they cost less than the 42 as well, average price online is $130 - $150...same materials as the 42 and same weight, the very best production trainer out there!

    This balisong is just a top notch prduction knife, really nice!

    Picked one of these up yesterday. This knife is LIGHT, I love it it's very nice.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 років тому

    well the clip is on the bite handle which you touch less than the other, but its easily removable if it bothers you...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 років тому

    yes its literally the same handles as the 42 onyl powder coated, they are a tony bit smoother thoguh so it may slip a bit more than the 42, but the weight is the same as well, great flipper!

    I flip alot...I have a passion for knives of all kinds but just really love the design of a balsong, they are alot of fun, I do practice alot of knife defense and offensive stuff but no other weapons...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 років тому

    yes from other knife guys and girls on the forums like knifeforums or bladeforums, they ahve private sales all the time...ebay does allow knives, just not balisongs or automatic knives since they are illegal in many places...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    I know of the vex but have not held one yet, good to know...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    A kick keeps the edge from touchign the inside of the ahndles to prevent edge damnage...You can only see the kick when the knife is open, but it works when the knife is closed so its hard to see it working...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    I have already showed all of my assisted openign knives which include the SOG twitch II and a few Kershaws...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 років тому

    thge latchg is the lock, it locks the knife both open or closed...but yes open and gripped it doesnt need a lock per say...but it is a locking knife...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    They too are very nice, the Alias knives are more of a similar design to the sebenza also sporting S30V as well as Titanium...Just like the sebenza...

    I dont know about shipping to the UK but any other site will have it cheaper than the BM website...avferage price is $175 - $190...but they are out of stock on many sites, and few will ship overseas, but I think a site called knifezilla will...

    Nice review. I carry a 32 Morpho when I'm dealing with dexterity issues (dealing with numb fingers - balisongs with spring latches are easier to manipulate than thumb openers having most common locks). The 32 is a great EDC as it is pretty much a folding paring knife.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    ? really, newgraham? I never had that problem? All I ever had to do was send payment? Perhaps they changed their policy...Are you sure it was newgraham pharmacy, located in bluefield virginia?

    I love that rounded spine on my BM32. I just picked up a BM480 Shoki gentlemans folder and it also has that rounded spine feature. It really does make it feel more elegant...and I will prob never own a Sebenza, so it's great to have this feature at an achievable price point.

  • @mrxwebpage
    @mrxwebpage 15 років тому

    The Banchmade Vex also has the rounded spine..
    As u mentioned..very comfortable..i love it.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    like all blades you cna oil it up with any metal oil and rub it in to clean if thats not enough metal polish like flitz will bring it back to original shape...IF you ahve an uncoated blade, and bare metal...this also came in a black coated version...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    Actually, no I can't flip with my left hand much at all, lol, but I did try to open it easily so I cna show both open real quick...But I am really crapy with my left hand, lol...

    it depends on your location. they are not under the switchblade act, but in many area they are considered gravity knives. i'm lucky and they are legal in my area.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    Not on good ones, but in this case the BM32 has zen pins and the tang is cut out to match, so no tang pin but rather the tang itself hits pins in the handle..

  • @cutlerylover

    Hi, I really liked the video and found it really informative--I am planning to buy a nice bali and would probably have gone with a BM42 if it weren't for what you said. I do have one question, though, and it may be somewhat silly--does the blade have a dual edge? That is, the curved cutting edge is obviously sharp, and the rounded part that you said was similar to the Sebenza is dull, but is the straighter area above the Sebenza-like area sharp as well?
    Thanks a lot!

  • @codychamillionaire
    @codychamillionaire 14 років тому

    @cutlerylover no you can't. if you do, the latch won't go back on, because the clip holds it there.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    I don't think so, although I alwasy thught they should offer a few different colors, I think they only do black and blue for color since its Benchmades colors...

  • @Jgrimwald

    I am happy I watched this balisong review along with a few others of CutleryLover's reviews because I was about to buy a Benchmade morpho 32 as a beginner because it is cheaper but now I am willing to pay the extra cash for a 42 if it is a better starter knife. It works out because a Benchmade 42 is what I picture when I think balisong but was only not going to buy it because of price if it didn't function any different but now I know. Thanks for the review.

  • @cutlerylover

    awesome!

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 років тому

    yes its true, if your use to full size balsiongs expecially the 42 than this is MUCH harder to flip, Still ana amzing balsiong and top quality just harder due to its smaller size...

    When the blue on the clip kinda starts fading, this knife gains even more charm. I have a 51bk but I'm totally gonna get this one too someday.

    This oen comes with a soft draw string bag, or pouch, but no sheath...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 років тому

    Exactly, the problem is the switchblade act (ban against automatic knives which also include balsiongs) is VERY outdated and although our soceity has changed there is nothgin a politition can gain from makign knife laws better for knife owners so they won't change any lasw for the better...

    I guess you have better luck than I do, I had edge chipping on my D2 griptilian with cutting aluminum...

  • @BradMaestas
    @BradMaestas 15 років тому

    They have to be sandwiched to have composite scales and aluminum liners (for the latch spring effect). Also keeps cost down. I'm sure a lot of the premium of the 42 is the milling labor and higher material cost. Doesn't mean they can't be high quality - as you mentioned.

    When i'll get a bali, this is the one. The blue black/blue handle is awesome.

  • @cutlerylover

    G-10 is a layerd plastic...very hard like metal but lighter ansd you can have it colored easily...the liners are meatl, dont rememberf if they are titanium or aluminum but they ARE metal thats anodized blue...

    Hey Im getting this knife for christmas and was wondering what to expect as far as durability. How often do you flip your 32 and how often do you do maitenence on it? Ex. Tightening screws ect. I was just curious because some of my cheaper bali's fall apart every other week, even when locktighted!

    Hey CL.. I got a question.. as u may know, i have a benchmade 42.. but, would it be more fun to use a 32 ? if i would get one ? they seem both fun and cool.. so i really wanna get one, but i just wanna know if it is a big of a difference between the 32 and the 42 ? Thanks in advance =)

    i can't wait till i get my 32, it looks like such an amazing knife, the only thing thats a bit iffy for me is the whole sadwich stlyle handles... i know benchmade is always high quality, but why sandwich style?

    It may seem like thatbecasue of my larger balsiong colection, but folders are defimartly 1st for me since I carry them and use them more, I generally only flip my 42 for fun...I use to have a HIG folder collection, but I sold them all to raise money for a car and lkept most of my balisongs thats why I still have just as mnay balisongs as I do folders, lol...

    Hey Cutlerylover,
    I'm 13 years old and have had one bali but it wasn't good quality, I want a new knife and have the money for this one I was just wondering if you would recommend it. I have small hands so it doesn't really matter that it's small. I really like the look and I'm pretty experienced. so...

    @vampyrezombiedragon although this was 4 months ago... balisongs are 100% legal here in Pennsylvania. just lettin you know. just because it's illegal over at your state doesnt mean all of the other states follow the same laws on firearms

    @mustangfootball63 in New Mexico maybe, but I think Nebraska is a little more strict. Balisong trainers are just as good, and you don't lop a digit every time you slip. Oh, and a good benchmade 42 is about $190... So, trainer it is.

    I do not own any but I find Bear balisongs to be ok for the money, they are a bit beter to some than say the jaguar clasic, but they tedn to sell for a bit more like $30 instead of the $20 a jaguar classic will cost you usualy, they also have models with the same qualiuty but much nicer materials that sell for like $60, which in my opinion are onyl worth buyign if your a colector and wil display it...

    I'm not a big fan of sandwich build. Is there anyway it could bend in the middle from squeezing it?

  • @acoathanger
    @acoathanger 13 років тому

    @lalakid3
    if you can bend g10 reinforced with titanium, then yes.
    But i don't like sandwich either it feels like it should be weak.
    In reality solid handles or sandwich build don't matter, its the quality of materials used to make the knife/handles and the design itself.
    I had a solid handle balisong that broke because a dog sat on it.
    Not only that but the blade was magnetic.

    As you know it would be near impossible to find Bali's in Aus, but i have come accross a business which is selling 'Bear & Son' Balisongs (under the counter).
    Usually i wouldn't settle for anything less than a benchmade/Spyderco but in this case it seems to be all i can get
    Do you know anything about these Bear & Son Bali's (if you have one of them could you post a vid)
