The waterchip came from the plot of Fallout 1...had 2 months to find a new one, and the model in his hand was identical to the CGI model in the game. LOL
I wouldn't say the three roles are paths you can take, but they are three perspectives of the wasteland. As the ghoul is from before the bombs fell, maximus was born into the wasteland and Lucy is experiencing things for the first time due to the vault.
I had the same question about the age of Lucy's "younger" brother Norm. Since he has a perpetual five o'clock shadow. It turns out the actor Moises Arias turns 30 today (April 18th). Happy Birthday Moises!
I'm guessing Norm is meant to be 20 to 24. Hank became overseer in 2271, which was likely soon after he transferred to Vault 33 to marry Lucy's mother. Lucy was likely born within their first year of marriage, so let's tentatively put her birth year as 2271 as well, making Lucy currently 26. Her mother died in 2277 (when Lucy would have been six, which fits with young Lucy's apparent age in her flashback), so Norm had to be born some time between 2272 and 2277. Presumably the vault-dwellers don't want to have too many kids at once, and Lucy treats Norm like a baby brother, so he was likely born several years after Lucy, placing his birth year between 2273 and 2277. The current year is 2297, so Norm cannot be younger than 20 and is thus currently 20 to 24. Edit: Apparently Lucy's mother actually died in 2281, so that would let Norm be as young as 16. Presumably that means Lucy was born much later, probably around 2275 (so she's 22 currently), and Norm was born around 2277, making him 20 at present. That does mean Hank and Rose were married at least four years before having kids, but that could be due to intentional vault population planning.
Gulpers are featured in Fallout 4's DLC "far Harbour" and Fallout 76's base game. Though the one in this show looks slightly different. The water chip failing is a reference to the first Fallout in which the player's main goal is to replace their vault's broken water chip.
