The children have been slowly getting returned, but should have never been taken to begin with. Also, Ukrainians have had to go to Russia to retrieve them (sick) and if there are no surviving relatives with proof or no one shows up, then the kids are adopted out.

The problem with authoritarian regimes is everyone is afraid to be the first to admit failure. Every officer just gives good reports. I am yet to see negative stories about Russian losses in Ukraine in state media in the country.

I spent time in the Soviet Union. I am not Russian but I can tell you that back then the media acted like they do now for the most part. It was even more controlled then. The Russians, however, were very good at reading between the lines and people had ways of finding out what was really going on. Muscovites are not stupid people. I haven't been to Russia in awhile but based on my previous experience I believe the Russians in St. Petersburg, Moscow and elsewhere do know very well what is really going on.

I think it's less about fear of escalation and more about ratcheting up pressure on Putin to back off. It should have been obvious that this tactic would never work, however. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇲❤️🇺🇦

Well, it's also about crushing the Putin regime once and for all. He's been given so many chances to just try and coexist peacefully and the west have had an immensely high threshold and patience with him. By dragging out the war and slowly escalate the conflict it's having a massive ramp up attrition effect on the Russian economy and a detrimental political stability of the state. There's only two option to topple this regime, direct NATO-Russian military confrontation, that's likely gonna lead to nuclear war, or to create domestic conditions inside Russia that makes it impossible for the regime to carry on. The second option might also lead to nuclear war, but either way the Putin regime will be done for. The west simply can't carry on with having Russia trying to steal countries one by one in their proximity anymore. It would completly undermine the concept of international law and eventually would just give Russia control of the entire Eurasian continent.

Correction: Only 11 Su-57's were made, they were the prototype T-50's and then simply repainted - but they retained their DIRCM configurations and serial numbers.
They lost one to a fuel tank exploding and burning the plane, they lost a couple to "training accidents" (parts failing), and they lost a few others for various reasons that I forget as I just got up. They don't have 14 left, they have much closer to 5 left in a flyable state.

So, with limited Su-35's, Russia has a total of 12 light fighter jets. What will they rely on, I wonder, their Mi-31's? They fight-bombers? Wait! Doesn't Iran have 10 F-14's ?? You really must do smth about your defence budget : 0.27% of GDP is unsustainable. Russian bombers are violating your airspace while carrying live nukes over Dublin on a regular basis, and your GDP is on par with Israel. You'd need at least 4 Rafale squadrons (half as cheap to use as F-16, Gripen-E's ownership is as expensive as Rafale with less payload than F-16 and no long range maritime strike capability) in order to interdict your airspace and being able to do maritime strikes, and this is the vital minimum!
Gosh, you can't even do your own sky-police: at the present day, Irish Air Corps owns 8 Pilatus PC-9 which are about as capable as a 1939 Messerschmitt Bf.109E !!! Great, they can intercept some Beechcraft twin-propeller... Unlike the Embraer Super-Tucano, the PC-9 can't even carry some ManPADS or the outdated AIM-9X Sidewinder. A few years ago, ruZZia even did a navy drill inside your EEZ... They'd have no issues doing a beach-landing.
Your navy has only 4 patrol boats (and 2 in reserve) with a 76mm gun as most powerful weapon. You're not NATO so even UK may not lift a single finger and by the time EU navies can act, the country would be fully subdued even by the ruZZians. Chinese PLAN would have no issue at it too, they have more ships than US-Navy and unlike Taiwan, it would be a piece of cake...
I'd love to be into a kind of hippie world, but history teaches me that all attempts to create a pacifist society ended being rolled over by some bully around...

Republic of Ireland is a neutral country not part of NATO. So it’s not that simple. It’s also historically supported by RAF. Hi from Co. Donegal.

    • @harounel-poussah6936
      @harounel-poussah6936 3 місяці тому

@@Mark-ml3nv No more neutral with the mutual defence article in the EU constitution which is similar to NATO's Ch.5...
And being neutral doesn't means to be toothless: even Switzerland has jet fighters!
The RAF it less geared than Israel or Taiwan and the Typhoon is a hangar queen more expensive to fly than the F-15. F-35? At best 28 hours maintenance per flight hour at $55k/h, and they're not allowed to go supersonic except in case of emergency as, after just a few minutes, the tail starts to melt...
In terms of defence, I'm sorry to say this but Ireland is the soft belly of the EU: if either the Russian or the Chinese navies want to invade, there's nothing to stop them and then they have an unsinkable giant aircraft carrier. I prefer not to imagine the issues bombers like the Tu-22M or Tu-160 armed with Mach3 long range anti-ship missiles can be a pain in the ass : remember that 90% of goods travel by sea... Any idea of the value loaded on any of these Maersk and CGM giant container-ships?
read me well : you can't be neutral if you can't protect your neutrality, in other terms, if you can't seriously kick asses...
History teaches you that Caesar was right: if you want peace, prepare for war... Note, you don't have to start wars, that is not imperialism... And it's not necessary to get bankrupt with Patriot at $1.1bn, F-35 etc, usually, the BAe ans Lockheed stuff are made in a way to syphon maximum money, I mean you get 5x 360° coverage 120km range SAMP/T batteries with 98.5% kill for a single launch at €1m a pop for the cost of one 120° coverage, 160km range Patriot battery that needs to launch 2 PAC-2 at $5-8m a pop for a single target... But there are also PAC-3 at $2m a pop for 20km range and PAC-3MSE at $3m a pop for 35 km range... SAMP/T's Aster-30 is the only one proven able to intercept Mach3 antiship/cruise missiles at only 2m altitude... 5 batteries and the whole Irish territory is protected, each battery protecting the other... And there's an upcoming SAMP/T-NG that will double the range and a little later will allow to even shoot down exo-atmospheric objects at wice the altitude of THAAD... ($800m a battery, and $900m for the 4 AN/TPY-2 radars needed to do a 360° bubble... Meanwhile, a single Ground Smarter GS-1000 covers a 1000km radius for €96m and sees stealth objects while 4700km range AN/TPY-2 can't).
Same crap with the F-35 : even USAF says it's NOT an air superiority asset, it MUST be protected by F-22, Rafale or Typhoon and cannot replace the F-16... A Rafale replaces 3.5 F-16s at half the hourly cost of one... It's only about 15-20% more expensive to fly than a F-5/T-38 and has humiliated Typhoon at all tests and in all drills while Typhoon is twice the hourly cost of the F-16... I wouldn't even consider a single engine aircraft to operate over the ocean, so better forget about Gripen, moreover, Gripen-e is as expensive to fly as Rafale becoz the GE F414 engine is 60's tech and the platform is not more capable than an upgraded Mirage-2000, any way it has too short legs for maritime strikes, remember that cruise missiles have really long ranges... If you have to fight a fleet, it can be more than 1000km from your shores...
Stuff must be considered against drone swarms too... Gosh, even Irish artillery is a facepalm: there is nothing like the CAESAr which can hit with metric accuracy at 40km with standard 155mm shells ... No way, there are only 105mm outdated guns... BTW, the self propelled CAESAr is cheaper than the towed M777 which needs jammable GPS-guided $76,000 Excalibur shell to be accurate at 40km...
No real need for frigates or destroyers but coastal batteries with AShMs and navy drones like the Sea-Baby, etc can become a real pain in the ass for invading navy vessels and beach landing stuff.
Tanks? No Hell, no! Not even the M2 Bradley that is early 80's tech... EBRC Jaguar and VBMR Griffon... add the Israeli Trophy and/or Trophy LV to protect vehicles both from ATGMs and FPV drones... And I'd consider to fit either the Thales Rapid-Fire or the Oerlikon Millennium Gun on the VBMR roof, the RapidFire uses the same ammos as the EBRC gun but is more fit to operate as an AA-gun... still can do an artillery barrage at 8.5km too...
I agree that the list may be long, but there are ways to cleverly chose the gear to not spend too big while being top notch...
And 0.27% of the GDP in defence, well, it's the Garda: some coast guard ships, a few helicopters, two MarPat aircraft, c'mon, that's not defence policy!
I bet that Putin's useful idiots that are Mick Wallace and Clare Daly are pushing not to change this, but guess what? All attempts in history to create a pacifist civilisation ended with this civilisation's disappearance to the hands of not pacifist at all ones... And those who didn't got killed ended as slaves...
And you don't negotiate with bullies, treaties have no value for 'em : look at the Hudaibiyyah treaty or the Budapest Memorandum... And the UN charter gets chattered every day too while the aggressors (Russia, China, Palestinians, etc) pose as the victims...
Make no mistake, I'd be the first to sign in the Care Bears universe or a full hippie world... Unfortunately, it's not how this universe goes, even stars had to die to make life possible here... And what was needed to satisfy some people's love for gold was even worse...
The truth is that if you and I want to live in peace in the EU, predators have to be made sure that any attempt to predate here will end into a total blunder... In other terms, a solid deterrent is needed... And free-loading on others is a terrible solution, believe me... Especially when you have a solid economy...
Historically supported by the RAF... Until the UK ends with some PM willing to sell you out to Putin? You already have Wallace and Daly willing to sell Ireland to ruzzia... And I bet they don't even know about the fate of useful idiots in history : they would get nothing if they succeed at it... Except the FSB or the GRU liquidated them before anyone else once Ireland ends snatched... Standard KGB procedure, useful idiots are killed first...

Respectfully Artur, Russia does have the ability to respond to the gradual reduction in weapons restrictions. There's a direct correlation between these reductions and damage to Russia's ability to project force and maintain their economy. All Russia has to do is get the hell out of Ukraine. For Ukraine's part, there is no ceding of territory and populace to the horrors that Russia inflicts. They need to return POW's, account for those that died under their care, and return the kidnapped children. It's conspicuous how little we know about what's happening to the POW's and children.

    • @issadraco532
      @issadraco532 3 місяці тому

of course they do. it's a country of 150 million people with massive resources and endless soviet stockpiles and an economy of 2 trillion dollars that goes to like 5 trillion when adjusted for purchasing power. the idea that they have no way to respond to such escalations is totally insane.
just look at the stuff with refineries for instance..
january - "what do they mean they can't protect us from russian response if we start striking russian infrastructure? pffft, russia is already doing everything they can, there's no way they can escalate any further! who cares what americanskis are saying, they not currently sending us cash anyways, ukraine should totally ignore the united states and attack the refineries, russia can't do anything about it!"
meanwhile ukraine today - "heeeeelp, send more money, evil kremlin has responded by striking the power plants themselves and has destroyed or damaged every single thermal power plant in ukraine and most of our hydroelectric capacity, heeeelpppp, we're in the dark and about to freeze this winter and we're gonna have to send millions as refugees to europe!"
and keep in mind that russia hasn't even touched the nuclear power plants yet. that's still in their back pocket because they know that it's ukraine's only remaining lifeline that is providing the last 40 percent of power generating capacity that they have left to keep their economy and country afloat. and it's all concentrated at just three nuclear power plants, meaning that it would be very easy for russia to focus all of their cruise and ballistic missiles towards those three targets in order to cut them off from the grid and force ukraine to have to shut them down and not just lose the power that they generate but actually have to waste diesel to run the backup generators in order to cool off the reactors and spent fuel. so much for "pfft russia can't do anything, they already did everything they could!" when russia just casually holding that ace in their sleeve that could blackout the whole of ukraine for good and destroy what is left of the ukrainian economy and force most of the 20-25 million ukrainian population to have to flee to europe to avoid starving from a lack of jobs and freezing to death in the winter and basically turn ukraine into a country with a population of less than 10 million over the course of a single winter.
same thing with those totally mindless and short-sighted attacks that opened a new front in belgorod, and same thing with giving the official green light to strike inside russia and other moves that keep escalating the conflict
one day it's "heck yeah, people's belgorod republic, what is russia gonna do anyways?" and the next day it's like "ahhhhh, 50k russians staging across the border, heeeeeelp russians coming, they wanna take kharkiv and build a buffer zone, heeeeelp kharkiv getting pounded, give money give damn patriotski give abrams give HIMARS give everything you got right away!"
or "heck yeah, western troops in ukraine helping them strike russians, heck yeah green light to strike inside russia, what are they gonna do anyways" and then immediately after it becomes "omg why would these silly russian think that they're at war with the entire west and NATO and talk about how they gonna send weapons to groups and factions and countries around the world that want to attack us and our interests?!? ahhhhhhh russian ships headed to cuba, france getting kicked out of africa by wagner, little green men in new caledonia, houthis shooting down american drones! ahhh, their electronic warfare that been making our precision-guided munitions become almost useless might end up in the wrong hands! north korea launching spy satellites!"
the big propaganda push in the first year when russia was struggling really scrambled the brains of some people. there's still people that are operating off 2022 style "pfft dumb incompetent russians are about to run outta missiles and tanks, russian collapse imminent, crimea victory beach party coming soon". they genuinely don't understand what it means to have a dictatorship that has 150 million people and massive resources that everyone wants to buy and near infinite soviet stockpiles that can last them years while they ramp everything up and pump nearly half of their budget into military production. just looking at the ayatollahs in iran and what they been able to achieve in terms of destabilizing the region, and that's with the united states having boots on the ground in most of the countries and with iran being nothing but a little barking chihuahua compared to a massive country like russia. i don't think people can even grasp just how much russia could destabilize this world if they really take the gloves off and decide to go for it.

@@montano6533 Do you even know the definition of facism before you speak of it? Here it is: "Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition." (Wikipedia) What part of that is not Russia?
Authoritarian: Consolidation of power under Putin and the Duma, who themselves dare not break ranks with Putin. Putin appointing district level leaders over the various republics which undercuts the mayors' ability to make decisions and removes the civilians ability to elect local leaders of their own liking. This gives Putin complete control both at the national and regional levels. State controlled TV and utilities. State controlled housing, education, health, etc. State owned oil industry via having majority shares and via Rosneft, which is state owned and provides all pipelines for oil and gas. Putin turning FSB into a personal police force for his own benefit and the detriment of everyone else.
Ultra-nationalist political ideology and movement: Russian supremacy and "God given" mission mentality. Belief that everything that was once Russian still is Russian. Belief that anyone who speaks or has any tidbits of Russian culture should belong to Russia. Abducting children from their home country and not returning them, along with indoctrinating them with lies in order to make them believe Russia was saving them when it was the one who bombed them in the first place. Suppression of any and all non Russian language, history and culture of insubordinate societies. Indoctrination of populace, including extremely young children, with a zealous national devotion. This includes new classes about mighty Russia called Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland, lessons from military personnel on how to disassemble and reassemble assault rifles, as well as the establishment of the Young Army. Harsh punishment for any child who even thinks of, or expresses the desire for peace, such as imprisonment of parents and immediate placement in state custody. Z-patriot movement that is promoted by state controlled media and ultra nationalist celebrities and/or those governed by fear. Persecution of independent media and entertainment that is not loyal to Putin. Death of oligarchs who expressed dissatisfaction with the way things are going in both Ukraine and Russia. Mass arrests of civilians who were simply attending Navalny's funeral. Systematic raids and accusations against any human rights organizations within Russia, including ones operated by Russians for Russians. Mass arrests of protestors, peaceful or otherwise for any reason. Arrest of people who built a dam to save their homes instead of letting them get washed away like those "protected" by the local government did. The veneration of Stalin, who until just a couple years ago was still reviled, something that was even true during the USSR years. I could go on, but I have more topics to cover.
Dictatorial leader: Putin and his endless terms, including stepping down to put a puppet up, then resetting his term limits via a new law that benefits only him by circumventing the constitutions term limits that barred him from being President again; arresting, assassinating, poisoning, and discrediting ALL opponents who even try to run for election against him. The ones lucky to survive are met with bogus excuses like a misspelling error on their application, which somehow then becomes an arrestable offense. The only one's allowed to run "against" him endorse him and are such jokes that they have no hope of getting support. Stuffing of ballot boxes by election officials as seen on recordings on telegram and other sites. Start of and continuance of a war solely on the behest of Putin, despite the continued toll it is taking on the populace.
Centralized autocracy: Moscow and St Petersburg are the center and concentration of wealth in the country. This is where the elite live and all other Republics are vastly worse off economically. 95.7% of Russian wealth comes from natural resources harvested outside of Moscow. In 2022 the national GDP was just over 5 trillion dollars, yet Moscow this year has been given a budget well over 4 trillion dollars. This leaves everywhere else nothing but scraps. All governments operate on a "who you know basis" to some extent, but in Russia there are regions ruled by Putin loyal families like the Kadyrovs, and others ruled by Putin lackeys such as his former body guard.
Militarism: Large build up of the military over the past several decades. Prevalence of military convoys/parades at many official holidays. Huge emphasis on the military and not of the people on Victory Day. Emphasis on showing devotion to Putin on that day as well. Establishment of the Youth Army and teaching of children how to use assault rifles. Invasion of Georgia; turning Belarus into a puppet state; proliferation of State backed mercenary groups stirring up conflict and coups in several African nations such as Chad and Sudan, backing of Assad and help in using bio weapons against the opposition. Invasion and annexation of territory of Ukraine and again use of chemical weapons in the form of white phosphorus. Z-patriot murals, billboards, etc. everywhere.
I could go on, but it's late so I'm heading to bed. As for trying to pretend these terms like fascist and racist originated in these specific western countries is ludicrous and another feeble attempt at splashing dirty water. History is full of these examples and Russia is one of them. After all, Ivan the Terrible didn't spring up out of nowhere.

SAMP/T MAMBA is even a worst SAMbush : you can't deploy a Patriot battery in 5 minutes and pack the bags and move into 3 minutes...
Aster-30 may only range 120km vs 160km for PAC-2, it has a 98.5% kill with a single missile while allowing hit'n'run tactics and costs €1m per pop...
You need to launch two PAC-2 at once to achieve a kill, they cost about $5-8m per pop and you battery takes hours to install and enough time for send a Lancet if its location is found... Seems that Ukraine received a 3rd battery...Soon (2025), Aster-NT will be delivered to customers and will double the range... It's an Aster-30 that intercepted the Kinzhal in Kiyv. The footage CLEARLY shows a vertical launch. Patriot don't vertical launch.

The civilian airlines have adapted to that in the air. Luckily because of the earths bend over distance, the jammers from russia can't at the moment jam aircraft while landing or taking off, but only while in the air. Of course thats not good either, as it impacts both civilian and military vehicles in the air. It not about the edges, its about how the faces of the aircraft deflect radar. The surfaces of the SU-57 are not optimized for a stealth fighter.

Not too long ago the left had a majority in eastern Germany. The trend is bad and I do my small part to reverse it, but it won't be easy.
In eastern Germany they feel left behind and deprived by the government and oppose all the money spent on everything but eastern Germany. This includes the EU and Ukraine as well as refugees from everywhere and populists exploit this to gain votes :(
We have to be very careful and present good arguments (preferably in short sentences) to stop the populists from the right and the left.

    • @caccioman

You feel left behind and deprived, after all the hundreds of billions of Euros we spent for the East and are still spending, to this day? Way to be thankful. I once calculated how much better off and richer the West would have been without all the money transfer to the East. Just direct aid in the first 13 years from 1990 to 2003 already amounted to 250.000.000.000 Euros.

Back when the wall fell I studied business studies here in Bremen and was part of a project about the reunification together with HWWI and IfW Kiel and jobbed as an IT admin in a company producing insulated glazing. I installed ERP and CAM systems in Schwerin, Leipzig and Berlin.

The truth is every country has to consider its own long term strategic goals first. Just like Ukraine never sent much aid, and little even medical support to Georgia in 2008, though we can get all moral and say "They OWED it to Georgia ! Helping Georgia then would have been in Ukraine's long term interest ! BAD UKRAINE ! ! ! ".
Politicians have a DUTY to their own people, that is why they are elected.

    • @jerryweirdspeed8943
      @jerryweirdspeed8943 3 місяці тому +5

@-el_bandito You're actually wrong! There are documentaries from the 80s lining it out. Then, after the regime collapsed, nazi sentiments which were latent in the population and neo nazi youth organizations were quick to seize the territory. They failed for years due to good education in the 90s and early 2000s and mostly due to the fact that their political parties were legally challenged for years. Also, they were very split up. But with AfD they've repainted the facade by taking over the party. Now they appear strong but they don't take the majority.
Unfortunately, we know this isn't going to cut it. Hitler never had a majority either. And the levels they achieve today are getting close.
Very similar to the situation in America today. Fascist Trump never got the popular vote but with their electoral system he was able to defraud himself into power. As was confirmed by a jury of his peers lately. He must not get that back. Nazis in the US are way stronger!
