You just totally made my life here! My grandpa used to play the Omnichord and sing... I still have some recordings. Along with my grandma, he would travel to flea markets in the 80's and sell Omnichords as well. I remember being so enthralled with this thing! On an especially fortunate day Grandpa would let me play it. As ridiculous as it is to say, these are the sounds of my childhood! Now I can show my daughter the crazy instrument I've been trying to describe to her ; ) Thank you!

Well that depends I guess ... the Omnichord has a nostalgic appeal for many musicians because of it's quirky sounds circa 1980. The instrument can add a unique sound to recordings and performances. I recorded an entire album with it. The Q chord is a modern version of the omnichord with limited appeal to most musicians (not quirky enough). However, the q-chord is still fun to play for a beginner and has many advances in realistic sounds. Check out some videos... Some compare the q-chord to a Player Piano because it comes with the ability to play pre-recorded songs that you can "strum" along with.

How do you figure the notes on the side? I want to get one but I’m kind of nervous
The "strum plate" notes change when you push the different chord buttons - it's only the notes in that chord. Check out my videos "Omnichord lessons 1-5" on YT for more detail. There is one just on the strumplate.
