I have a loud clicking noise when turning slowly,forward and in reverse,sounded just like the noise you were getting from your spring.Tending to think spring top mount now rather than CV joint.Very helpful thanks.
So 3 broken springs in 3 cars in a neighbouring location? What's the common thread then? Does'nt look like you all live off road. Could it be your local road conditions? Could it be lower quality of spring manufacture nowadays?

Same just happened on my Ford Focus MK2, after being parked up over night. Loud bang as I took off .... Cheers.
