Just experienced one of the best comebacks in UCL ever in FM in my Espanyol save: 3-2 first leg defeat away at Anfield, second leg at home 4-2 90+3 min free-kick game-winner. COMEBACK!!!!
My best champions league road to the championship. I finished second in a group with Schalke and lost to them 5-0 in Germany and 0-3 at home. R16 : Sporting 2-0 PSV PSV 8-1 Sporting QF : Atletico 3-0 PSV Psv 5-0 Atletico SF : PSV 2-1 Juventus Juventus 1-2 PSV Final : Barcelona 1-3 PSV Full of comebacks :))
I know the feeling. I managed the worst team in La Liga but for some reason, our mediocre team managed to come back from 3-0 to 3-4. Was against Real. AND last goal was a last-minute one similar to Kun Aguero's moment in City. Had goosebumps all over.
Really useful video. I think having variations of the tatic your using is very good and can be effective. Im currently managing malaga and i was using a 3-5-2 in my first year in the la liga. I had two versions. The first one was the one i used in the division below with some tweeks to it. In our instructions we would look to counter press, counter, pass short, mentality positive etc. then i would have a more defensivly responsible version where instead of the conter press we would regroup, we would drop down to balanced, bring our lines down. From much higher engagement to higher and drop our higher line to standard. By doing this we beat barcelona away, real madrid at home and drew to them away, beat atletico in BOTH GAMES. Beat real sociedad and beat bilbao. This led us to qualify for the europa league and finish 6th with a team that was expected to only fight bravely against religation.
Some good tips. It's also important players having good hidden attributes in important matches and so reading analyst reports on your players can be good
A brilliant night of champions league football for the dorfers. Had a great game on my west ham save last night. 2-0 down from first leg in munich. Winning 3-0 on the night. Bayern pull it back to 3-1. Got the 4th goal in extra time. Champions league football man!
Great breakdown of a great game by Floridsdorfer AC! Charpentier/Chevalier count: 6 🤣 Also: Live channel spoiler? 😃 And also: FM Gods = Pulisic? 😇 Great editing and animations on this vid! Thanks Gadjet and Tomleggosaurus!
Since were all doing this; UCL final with an Augsburg save Vs Man City, lost the final year prior vs same team and by the 62’ minute we were 2-0 down and star LW injured; a 90th minute header to make it 2-2 from a corner, in the 117th minute my CAM that has been there 5 years scores the winner for first ucl in club history
Just like everyone else is telling their stories, I will too: Athletic Bilbao 2 - 3 Real Madrid, I changed my tactic, made twists for the upcoming battle in the Copa del rey, etc. We lose but oh boy I had fun living like a true manager the whole match
I played City with my Dortmund side in the CL Group Stage and they actually held on for a draw. I put my team to attack them and hold them in the middle and I had bought Joao Cancelo from them, weakening their fullbacks. They just kept putting 5/6 players back and they only had one chance which Foden hit into Row L. Really could’ve used this video as an extra bit of help.
I just played Manchester city with my young boys team in season 3! They were still under pep’s inverted fullback shenanigans so I told my players to attack down the wings, and to float crosses to my 6’4 striker. I tight marked haaland and pressed Ruben Dias (libero). Haaland had a quiet game, my striker (NELSON WEIPER!!! He’s great) scored a brace, and I won 3-1!
Every time I watch a Zealand vid he does exactly what I do whether I heard it from him or figured it out myself. Just won the Europa League with a similar idea of throttling Monaco's only two really good players (left back and striker) and seeing it out with low tempo, short passing and middle time wasting
I somehow made it to the UCL final with Maccabi Haifa while breaking pretty much every attacking record possible and I didn’t even except to get out of the group stage (did it with 15 points against Chelsea, Atletico and Lokomotiv Moscow). In the knockouts I got past Real Sociedad, Liverpool and Man City and lost in the final 2-0 to PSG.
Hey Zealand, thanks for your tips for late minutes when you lead, I see I was forgetting some of them. And my question is: Is that CF turning into IW effective in case if my CF could play just at their position? They do not even got a slighly orange spot anywhere else on the pitch. Cheers ;-)
Zealand help me. I’m doing a Palestino save and am trying to generate Palestinian youth products(or buy them) for my Chilean club. However, so far I’ve only found 2 palestinian youth academy players in my 7 year + save, along with 2 Palestinian players i’ve brought in. My GM, Head of Youth Dev, many coaches, scouts etc. are all palestinians but I still only produce Chilean(and the occasional Argentinian or American) youth players. How can I get Palestinian youth?
Just had a super weird run in the Champions league. I play as Stabæk (starts as a lower table Norwegian team). Year 2028. My wage spending sits in-between Genk and Young Boys. I finish second in a group with Barcelona, Porto and Shaktar. I then, on aggregate, beat Liverpool 6-2, Dortmund 3-3 (7-6 on penalties), Arsenal 1-0 and then lose the final to Leicester, who beat City 4-2 on aggregate in the semis. I wonder if I could have brought this amazing run all the way home if I had used any of the information in this video .-.
I have come to the conclusion after watching this video that my 4312 “ahhh that’ll do” tactical approach is why I am not winning anything The depth and level of attention needed to succeed is remarkable I honestly don’t think I have the time and patience to break down a singular game in this manner..
Try tweaking your formation and player roles before completely giving up!! Also, and I know this is obvious, get better players…or more importantly, learn how to find better players! An easy way to do this is to go into international squads and check all of the U18, U19 & U21’s and scout them…get those wonder kids before anybody else! Good luck!
There's not really one "right" way to play FM to be honest. Zealand is really into all aspects so he plays really in-depth, in this save he's got a squad that should literally never be beating Man City but due to his tactical skill he can, if you're not as good, who cares? It'll probably take 1 or 2 more years to develop a stronger squad to be able to make up for your weaker tactical approach but there's literally nothing wrong with that, do you need to put on manual scouting and training, to achieve success quicker? Yes. Do you need to put on manual scouting and training to have more fun? Not necessarily, no.
His advice is obviously good but zealand is also (maybe I don’t actually know) one of the best people at the game, his shit is gonna be way more in depth than the average layman. If you even go like 30% as hard you’ll notice changes
In my first season i was being beaten by liverpool 4-0 in the first leg and cameback 6-4 in the last 20 minutes of the second leg. Just to lose to psg in the final 1-0 with a united side that had ronaldo as the only in form player
Every time I see a video of your gameplay it looks like I'm playing a complete different game, nothing that happens in your game happens in mine, nothing.
Your formation working on xbox fm22 a took inter too 7-6 over two games & went to penalties in quarter finals of champions league with Glasgow rangers 😆 Nice one bro
I played Liverpool in the quarterfinals of the UCL in season 2 of my PSV save. Deservedly beat them 1-0 at home and then got smashed 5-0 by the exact same team in the return fixture😂
I beat Man City 3-0 with Swedish side hammarby, in the champions league. I still don’t know how it happened since we finished 4th in the group and lost the other games
Completely random: has anyone done testing on what language barriers do in fm. Seems like an important issue that is rarely spoken about, but maybe that’s just me
It impacts upon the speed at which the player will become "Accustomed" to your team and is a contributor to the dynamics surrounding familiarisation. It's highly dependant on the "Adaptability" stat, but it's not a massive issue unless you get someone with devastatingly bad adaptability (Although to be honest unless they're some wonderkid, then I avoid bad adaptability like the plague if I need that player to be inside the first 16 players on my teamsheet). It's worth stating that they'll get the language "Eventually" even with bad adaptability, but whereas someone with great adaptability might just take a couple of months to get it nailed, they'll take closer to a full season..... worth keeping this in mind as a phenominal player who has little knowledge of the language will put in more 6.7's (or have bad games) than they will 7.0's until they get it sorted; so be mindful of that if you're spending big money on a 1st team player/starting-11. Intensive language courses are a 100% must have if it's a player you want long-term or need up to speed quickly, but only if you've got the cash to do it.... seen plenty of saves lower league where a major cause of bankruptcy is the costs of sending a few players for courses; lots of little things mount up and sneak up on you. Player going to be with you for just 1 season? Avoid if they don't know the language; yes you'll get 'some' decent games out of them, but consistency is likely to be an issue unless they have amazing adaptability. Player going to be with you for 2 or more seasons? Use them off the bench until they get at least "Basic" knowledge and send on the course if you can afford it. Wonderkids: I'm not sure if language barrier affects development - logically it should; gotta be hard to learn from coaches if you can't understand them, but I have no idea if the game replicates that. Final thought: You can torpedo your dynamics if you buy a player who has no knowledge of the language, give him "important player" status, and then drop him after 10 games when he can't string two decent games together because he confuses "Pass to me" with "Sky it into row Z"..... don't underestimate how one key player in one key position, who is unable to perform ddue to adaptability, can mean the difference between a push for Europe and mid-table underachievement. Anyway, hope that helps :-) I should say no formal testing done, just experience over the years.
Got a 8-3 aggregate against City, 5-3 against PSG, 9-6 against Real Madrid (2 wins and 2 draws) with a 3 star team.. and it’s not with some sort of pseudo tactic trying beating the engine, but a tactic that has been refined over 2 decades.
The game has ways to "buff" performance, like team cohesions. For some reason I've never understood you seem to think of roles (and position) the same way you pick t-shirts. The game does "reward" you for playing a player in the same position and role every week, the default UI even has the bar that show how well trained they are at the role+position, but you still manage every match to sit and pick roles-position like you where playing The Sims and picking the carpet pattern and colour. Your striker that has played the last 10 matches as AF/A at the ST position is better than the version of him that has played AMR the last 10 matches and is now put in as ST AF/A. This is why you should handle training matches, because it allows you to pick role+position of players in pre-season, so you have a stronger team at the start of the season.
I can understand everything that’s being explained but it’s micro management to the enth degree!! Takes a LOT of time and effort for you to just concede if the game decides you’re going to concede anyway!! I’m sure it DOES work sometimes though…I’m just saying!
