Colin Deiner, Western Cape head of disaster management, said the man was found as they removed a slab from what they believed to be floor level three.
"We heard somebody inside and stopped all the heavy operations."
Deiner said they did not yet know the man's name.

@@lynettedraghoender109 yes, hubby was a fireman for 32 years. He would be there for days if needed. He suffers terrible nightmares. But he said it was worth it for every life saved. I cannot imagine what those poor rescuers are going through.

@@sindiswamdidimba4518 I can't explain it, but when this tragedy occured, there was an absolute overwhelming drive in me to go and help...in any which way I could...I absolutely hate it to see people in despair and sadness...I'm sure you're right, maybe I will be rewarded in time to come, but that kind of thoughts never came across my mind...as long as I have the capabilities to help uplift someone, that is more than enough reward for me....I'm sure the Lord lead me to that tragedy, I don't have the words to describe it, but it was absolutely amazing to see, after praying with many family members, it was almost like a calmness descended over them as if angels had arrived and took each and everyone into their protection....
