Thank you for caring about our veterans final resting place. They gave so much. We were raised to clean our loved ones stones, and if we find ones that had been over-grown..we clean those, too. We found a tiny stone of a 5 year old with a picture of little boy blue. Never would have seen it if we didn't step on something hard. It was totally overgrown. We dug it out and shined it up. I'm really touched. So many of these soldiers may not have a family anymore to come to look after them, and you're taking the time to make sure they look their best. As a Genealogist, I think about this as I research family lines that went back overseas during the Revolutionary War, or left the state, or never had children, or even those who never knew the names of their ancestors. This is our touchstone to our history. Thank you so much for all you do. I recently found my 5 times great Grandmother's resting place two hours from where I live (I didn't grow up in the area) and the photos of her stone broke my heart. I think I"m going to get some D2 and pay her a visit this summer.

@@theyfaceeast I have been cleaning a family headstone for a few years that had their lost Son, brother and uncle and acknowledged. He died in WWII on the disabled Submarine, USS Sculpin. I make sure the headstone has a flag for Memorial Day, and a wreath for Winter. I even contacted the state military cemetery, and finally located a family member. I do not know if he has a memory headstone now in a National cemetery, or state. His only memorial was in Manila. There was a joint effort from the cemetery and myself. It was now up to the nephew to take the reigns. I lost contact with the nephew last year, and have had many time dragging challenges of my own. But the wreath should be up now on the family’s, and I will check on it when I go back to the city. I cleaned that headstone up from solid lichen and mold. So in ending- In Honor and Memory of Lt. Commander Nelson John Allen, whom died at sea in the Service of his country. 11/16/1943
Thank you Albert Alexander Thigpen Sr for your service. I know of one young man in my family tree, from Scotland who went to war at 16 and died in those WWI trenches.

I'm a member of NSDAR and this video both encourages and inspires me to know that there are still people out there who not only love history, but have a deep and abiding respect for those who sacrificed their lives and fortunes for our safety. Thank you, Sir!
Thank you for the reverence with which you carried out the cleaning. I lost a Great Uncle at the Somme in 1916. His remains were never found. He has no headstone but is honoured on a memorial in France.
As a family genealogist I have visited and cleaned many headstones with just a soft rag and plain water (never city tap water) free of chemicals and purifiers. Looking forward to getting D2!
Great video! Another useful tool in my headstone-cleaning bucket is a thin plastic spatula or pancake turner. A headstone covered in moss can be cleaned well by saturating the moss with water and then using the plastic spatula to gently scrape under it and the moss will come off in sheets.
Absolute respect for you sir! We need more people like you these days. Many forget or just don't care about the importance of what these men did for us all and continue to do.

You are good person. As an Englishman I would like to give my thanks to all servicemen and servicewomen of the USA armed forces. In the UK the First World War and the Second World War are remembered equally. My grandfather fought in the First World War and was injured. He was treated by American medical staff in France. He was extremely grateful for the care given to him. He also said he was given some chocolate. It may seem a trivial thing but for him it was like a piece of heaven. Keep up the good work. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🏴🇬🇧

You're welcome! Thank you for the comment. While attempting to gain permission from a city to clean African American veteran headstones in their historically segregated cemeteries, I discovered one of the main reasons why veteran headstones are covered in disgraceful biological scum is because people don't know how to clean headstones properly. It's really easy once you know what to use and what to do. Do no harm is the most important thing to remember! I appreciate you helping us with our mission to clean every veteran headstone by Memorial Day.
Without these people I would have been german. I will pray for them and I thank you for taking care of their grave. Greetings from France, God bless America.
Thank you Trey for sharing your knowledge on how to properly and safely clean headstones - what a transformation! And thank you for the respect and gratitude you show for our American Veterans.
Thank you sir for this fine tutorial on the proper way to clean marble headstones. This was very instructive on the restoration and preservation of our ancestor's grave stones. No bleach, and no metal brushes! You must be in Florida to be wearing shorts on a November morning.
Thank you for what you do. I’d certainly donate if able…but sadly I’m not at this time but I do have a huge amount of gratitude for your efforts. I’m a Gold Star ⭐️ Parent & am in FL where our son has a headstone in a local cemetery next to his Grandfather but he is actually buried in GA where our former DIL had him placed. You’re correct when you say that it’s a grief that never eaves you. It’s been almost 13yrs and it’s like it was yesterday. God bless and continue honoring your DNA as it is a wonderful thing to do for those who secure our freedom that so many seem so complacent to or are oblivious about. Much respect 🇺🇸
I can only imagine your loss. My great grandmother was a Gold Star mother. He was my grandmother's brother. I can assure you that while too many people are complacent to or are oblivious about the cost of freedom, there are still many millions of Americans today who grasp the gravity of what your son did for us, what you gave to us. We must find a way to assign a Volunteer to each and every one of our veterans of the past to ensure their final resting places are respectfully cared for in perpetuity without fail.
Thank you from France. We live in a free world these veterans paid the price for us .How can i purchase the D2 biological product ? Merci beaucoup From Grenoble France.
We haven't forgotten that France helped us win our independence! My grandfather returned the favor when he stepped off the landing craft at Normandy. I'm not sure where you can purchase D/2 Biological Solution in France, so visit the manufacturer's website at D2bio.com. They sell the product through distributors, so maybe they have a distributor in France. I'm sure they will assist you. I spoke with a woman cleaning veteran headstones at one of my events. I recognized her French accent. She said she was from Normandy and her grandfather had been killed in action during World War I. We all have a personal connection to military veterans. My great uncle was killed in action during the Battle of the Atlantic. He went down with his ship, his body never recovered, but his name is etched on the wall at Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial in England. I requested a photo of his name. They fill the etched names with sand from the beaches of Normandy before taking the photos. This is an example of the measures we must take to honor our military heroes. The least we can do is clean their headstones. Thank you for joining this cause in France. I am grateful.
@@theyfaceeast I am sure a similar product is used in France and Belgium. There are lots of graveyards absolutely full of row upon row of gleaming white headstones for the young who died during WW1. i have ancestors spread across the globe and i am wanting to ist New Zeland where my dads mother is resting. Her grave is very neglected and needs repair to the monument but the politicos here and New Zealand have decided that we must buckle under to the grand mal. So,no overseas travel for me in the near future. BTW, My Grandmother, her mother and a sister and brother who died as Children from TB are all in the same cemetery but it has been made into a protected site and nothing much can be done to their graves without permission from the local city council...
@@Mercmad I'm looking forward to traveling soon myself. My ancestors came to America from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany, and Austria between 1631 and 1750, prior to the Revolutionary War. So if I can find my ancestors buried in Europe, their headstones will be 250-400 years old. Getting permission is the first step before cleaning headstones, or anything else in a cemetery. Do No Harm is the motto for preservationists, so a good cemetery steward will say NO until they are comfortable you will Do No Harm. Never use bleach or any cleaner harsh to natural stone, because they destroy the stone over time. The safe cleaners that do no harm contain active ingredients known as Quaternary Ammonium Compounds "QUATS".

I am a young Canadian lad, I Have never served. But as I get older I start to look to values and respect as my guidance in life. I feel more at peace. Respect, Values, Dignity.
You are on the right path young Canadian lad. My daddy instilled into me the ideals of respect, values, and dignity. I didn't realize it at the time, but he is the one who showed me things such as standing watch over my grandmother's grave after everyone else had walked back to the church. I was with her as the workers shoveled the dirt onto her casket, filled the hole, and completed the burial tasks. It's just the respectful loving thing to do.
Unfortunately the cost of freedom is forgotten in three generations. It is vitally important that we raise awareness among the masses who have no idea about the sacrifices made by our veterans of the past.

God bless you for your service to our country Ruben. There will be a rebirth of patriotism in America. We must no longer be complacent when it comes to honoring our veterans of the past.
You guys have sacrificed much for our world. ❤️
I'm hard of hearing. Could you please print the name of the cleaner? I would love to contribute in cleaning headstones of our HEROES. Thankyou
R.I.P little boy blue.
Thank you for sharing your cemetery visit experience. There are so many grave markers beneath the surface now. I am not a fan of ground level grave markers, because they disappear so quickly as they settle into the ground and get covered by leaves and grass.
@@theyfaceeast , thank you sir for your good works. I don't like the ground markers either for that same reason. Unfortunately when so many children died in the 1918 influenza , that happened alot. My gram lost 3 siblings and I have to keep the small markers from the overgrowth. No one should ever be forgotten.
@@missingutah Amen Tammy! I cleaned the little headstones of two 1st Cousins 2x Removed this week. A 10 year old boy and a 12 year old girl. Probably hadn't been cleaned since 1955.
Thank you for your service Elbert Alexander Thigpen, without veterans like u we wouldn't have freedom.
Very respectful gentleman, we need more like you, thankyou for what you are doing😎
as a marine and army vet i find this very interesting. think i just found a new hobby 😁
Thank you for joining us! And thank you for your service to our country.
I might join too👌
@@theunknownbunny9285 that would be wonderful! All we have to do is spread the word, and each person clean just one veteran headstone. Of course, once you clean one, you'll want to clean TEN! Please Subscribe to my channel, so I can reach you when I roll out our new website to track routine maintenance for all veteran graves.

I never knew you could become part of both Marines and Army. Wow!
Thank you sir. I was raised to take care of the graves also. Our family are all gone now from our small town in Idaho but when we visit they are remembered & tended to.
Thank you for doing this and teaching people about respect, honor, and selflessness.
I didn't realize it during my formative years when my father was instilling in me the many details of a life well lived.
These folk deserve a lot of praise.the graves they are tending to should never. Be forgotten.
Praise is always nice, but from experience I can assure you the people who clean veteran headstones seek nothing in return for the work they perform. Wonderful folks.
Lost my dad in Vietnam, I was 6 mo old. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
You were part of God's plan when He asked me to do this three years ago. In God's time we will have a volunteer assigned to each and every veteran's grave to provide respectful care in perpetuity.
I'm not an American but I watched this video to the end, and I have come to the conclusion that you're an honorable man. Thank you for making this video.
I’m with you Yann Kitson. Respect good Sir.
I really want to start doing this ❤❤!!
I'm 71 and retired looking for a purpose to my life.
My daddy and grandpa served in the military and this would be a way to honor what they did.
Thank you for this video and inspiring me !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
You're welcome Laura. Cleaning veteran headstones and grave markers is certainly rewarding. Register as a Volunteer at VeteranGraves.com
I can’t thank you enough for doing this. You gave a gift. You taught CARE.
Great video. Thanks for caring for our veterans' resting places.
To all those commenting that you spend your time similarly honoring our vets...God bless!
God bless you.. I felt your heart the entire time you were cleaning the stone. Honor and duty with some love thrown in. Thank you!
Our veterans of the past deserve nothing less than our utmost respect and I believe it starts with their headstones being maintained to our best abilities.
I don’t even come from USA, but I found this so deep and meaningful! What a nice man! 😃
Thank-you It was wonderful to hear what you had to say. This man died not just for America, but for the world. To stem the flow of man's short sighted evil.May he rest in peace.
Not from this country, don’t have any relatives that served in the military but I’ve always had respect for those who sacrificed their lives so that we could sit and watch this video right now. We have no world without them.
I love your comment.
Just spent two day with my husband, daughter and my cousin cleaning headstones and picking up trash in our cemetery for All Saints.
God Bless
You did a beautiful job cleaning this headstone.
I have lost a loved one in WWII.
I clean my granfather and my great grandmother and great grandfathers grave stones my grandfathers is black marble and i use a cleaning product i make myself and a polish i make myself i have been cleaning there gravestones for over 20 years and they are still sparkling clean makes me feel proud of myself
how did you make it?
I really appreciate what you did for this veteran. Wish more people would do this. Thank you, from a retired Navy man.
I'm so glad you found your 5th Great Grandmother's grave! She will give smiles from heaven when you clean her headstone.
We forget the sacrifice given by them. Thankyou to you all by what you did. I will never forget.
you are a true gentleman and child of the universe.
Hey Trae, all my respect for your work! I'm a Viet Nam vet and at this stage of my live seem to be spending a lot of time at the National Cemetery in Dallas, atending fellow vets funerals. Nice to know that there are people taking care of the head stones. Thank you again!
Thank you for serving our country during the Vietnam War!
Thank you for your service! My dad was also a Vietnam vet, 101st Airborne. 🇺🇸
You give dignity and respect a whole new meaning. Ty for your service to those who have gone on before us. It's nice that you're doing this for our veterans, God bless you Sir. Keep up the good work.
As a veteran myself, god bless you .
Thank you for your service 💗
Thank You, for your volunteering to restore the headstones of our, heroes. 🇺🇸
There are a lot of people who will clean a veteran headstone if they simply knew there was a problem in the first place.
So in ending-
In Honor and Memory of Lt. Commander Nelson John Allen, whom died at sea in the Service of his country. 11/16/1943
Thank you Albert Alexander Thigpen Sr for your service. I know of one young man in my family tree, from Scotland who went to war at 16 and died in those WWI trenches.
Millions of beautiful young men died in those trenches. Not all of us have forgotten. God bless your family member for his sacrifice.
Quality stuff! Me and my brother go to our local graveyard and read out every name aloud to keep their memory going. Would love to show my respect and clean some after seeing this
That is awesome!
A man’s not dead while his name is still spoken.
You did an amazing job by cleaning and honouring those vets who have past.
I'm a member of NSDAR and this video both encourages and inspires me to know that there are still people out there who not only love history, but have a deep and abiding respect for those who sacrificed their lives and fortunes for our safety. Thank you, Sir!
I salute you sir for caring and honoring this soldiers monument.
A lovely caring gesture in honour of a truly selfless patriot who laid down his life for his country. God bless you Sir.
Thank you for honoring our vets, your an inspiration, I want to start doing this
Thank you for your time and effort in keeping a WW1 Veterans stone clean.
Absolute respect for you sir! We need more people like you these days. Many forget or just don't care about the importance of what these men did for us all and continue to do.

True respect demonstrated here! I hope others follow your inspiration. I’m in England and will look to see if any of my local church gravestones require such love and attention. God bless x
God bless you too Zoe Dodge. I appreciate you joining our cause to clean every veteran headstone by Memorial Day. This of course includes our brothers and sisters in England!
Thank you for your reply. I’m inspired by this cause and will visit my local church yards bucker in hand! God bless you and all you do
@@zoedodge4137 did you find any of this cleaning product in the UK??
You are good person. As an Englishman I would like to give my thanks to all servicemen and servicewomen of the USA armed forces. In the UK the First World War and the Second World War are remembered equally. My grandfather fought in the First World War and was injured. He was treated by American medical staff in France. He was extremely grateful for the care given to him. He also said he was given some chocolate. It may seem a trivial thing but for him it was like a piece of heaven. Keep up the good work. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🏴🇬🇧
I think it's wonderful how the people of England, France, and other allied countries still honor USA armed forces from WWI and WWII.
I´m from germany, and i am very impressed how americans and other countrys take care of their monuments and thumbstones. I miss it here. No one here did this.
Fantastic job, you have every right to feel honored cleaning his stone.
I was just at my brother's grave on Mother's Day and their stone needs this done.
I'm off to search for the D2 solution now, thanks again
Amen to that man for what he did for the United States and of our country
Great job! My husband served 2 tours in iraq, the first tour was 18 months and the 2nd was a year I spent it in Fairbanks Alaska and it was very hard being without our soldiers. Some didn't come back and to this day our children know more about our veterans than anything else. I want our veterans to know we love them and thank them all.
I when to see my friend at the National cemetery in Dixon California and my wife and my self we were talking about how to clean the headstone and I found this video, thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to think of those who sacrificed so much for freedom! 🇺🇸
I hope to encourage others to do the same.
Thank you Trey for sharing your knowledge on how to properly and safely clean headstones - what a transformation! And thank you for the respect and gratitude you show for our American Veterans.
Thank you for doing all you do for our service members. I’ve got a few I need to clean also. Keep up the good work. Blessings to you.
Thank you Tammy! Blessings to you as well. I appreciate you being a part of our movement to Honor Your DNA.
Thank you sir for this fine tutorial on the proper way to clean marble headstones. This was very instructive on the restoration and preservation of our ancestor's grave stones. No bleach, and no metal brushes! You must be in Florida to be wearing shorts on a November morning.
Thank you! My Uncle died in WWII in Germany. His tombstone is in need of cleaning. Can’t wait to get on it
Thank you for what you do.
@@theyfaceeastI’m so sorry for your loss
@@Mercmad I pray your quest is granted soon, and the "grandmal" is vanquished soon! As the Lord Jesus will be coming back soon one way or another I will see my loved ones soon!

For those who love our country... WE SALUTE YOU!
God bless you brother, thanks for your patriotic work. My dad had SIX brothers who all are Vietnam veterans one who was a Vietnam and Korea veteran. I will always cherish all of them for what they all went through, God bless all veterans.
A real surprise here when he reads off the name of distant relative of mine. Thank you for your good works, Sir!
Utmost respect for US veterans, they not only keep America free but the western world. Great work you are doing there :)
Thank you for doing what you do.
As a Veteran myself I really appreciate your work.
Thank you for your service to our late veterans! It is a very kind act to continue to maintain and clean their permanent grave markers. It preserves their heritage and their service. God bless you!
Thank you for introducing us to courageous Elbert and for providing a video that teaches how to clean a headstone and much more. Well done, Sir.
That looks so theraputic and it's so satisfying to watch
I am a young Canadian lad, I Have never served. But as I get older I start to look to values and respect as my guidance in life. I feel more at peace. Respect, Values, Dignity.
You are on the right path young Canadian lad. My daddy instilled into me the ideals of respect, values, and dignity. I didn't realize it at the time, but he is the one who showed me things such as standing watch over my grandmother's grave after everyone else had walked back to the church. I was with her as the workers shoveled the dirt onto her casket, filled the hole, and completed the burial tasks. It's just the respectful loving thing to do.
Such a beautiful video and such a humbling experience, thank you for what you do, you help keep those young boye remembered after all those years
Thank you for taking care of our fall service men and women’s final resting place!
You have such a good heart my man god bless you
As a Vietnam War disabled vet 1966-67 I thanks those who take care of our brothers and sisters graves...
very good work . where would we be , without our service women and men ? GOD BLESS AMERICA . ~ JDS/CT
Unfortunately the cost of freedom is forgotten in three generations. It is vitally important that we raise awareness among the masses who have no idea about the sacrifices made by our veterans of the past.
Thank you for your services to these veterans- they deserve the respect they have earned as defender of our freedoms!!!
Well done & informative. Thank you. Come spring, I’m going home to clean family headstones safely. I’ve been searching for exactly this. Thank you again.
Great video. Thank you for restoring these important monuments to our brave people!
We have a Civil war Memorial in our family. this D2 would be fantastic for his stone and memorial
Thank you for this! Never forget our ancestors.
