I'm so glad that finally someone decides to tell you everything you know about every class instead of telling you about what they like about the class that they choose that's all I've been getting his people making it there specific race and class and telling you what they like about it and then never gone through anything else
I appreciate your content Fextralife! Seems like you're one of the only people that has made videos on the classes in this game, I'd imagine you'll get an awful lot of views and subs in the coming days.
I went all in on dex and perception and hoooooo boi its a good time. With maxed dex/per and dual weilding skimtars my recovery time is craaazy fast, and with a high perception my chances of criticals are very high. The double hits reliably build my cipher meter and the damage from psyblade's melee spell is nuts! I get something like 3 hits to every 2 hits a stength built rogue gets which really adds up. My dps outpaces everything in my team. And with the super fast recovery time I can use items/spells in a pinch to help teammates and myself
I know this is an old video. But I've only just this week picked the game up as it was on a massive sale on steam. I wanted to point out that Priest of Wael also multiclasses rather well with Street Fighter. Since you gain illusion free action spells from Wizard as well as your priest buffs/debuffs/heals. Which can make you a great "evasion tank" and give you plenty of party support utility as well. If you're willing to focus on tanking and supporting instead of tanking and damaging.
Trickster can perfectly use range weapons, particularly because they don't rely that much on sneak attack or backstab, you forget to take that into account. I'm playing a Trickster archer and so far it's a great combination, being at range while having great mobility and many means to evade or being hit makes it very survivable in a group.
Love the game, and this guide is still viable. (Getting back to the game just recently) Personally I feel Rogue fit best with the Cipher (Mindstalker). They work so nicely together. High and fast damage generates quickly high focus, while smooke veil and Escape gives you protection and movement, Chiper spell can be used as for casting afflictions, short buff or raw damage with the Soul Blade subclass or general raw damage spell like disintegrate. A micromanaged mindstalker (Assassin/Soul Blade) can instantly take down 5-6 dangerous foes within the first minute of the fight. The only downsite are very sturdy long fight enemies like the megabosses. Since you can't survive anything, mega bosses are hard to do deal with. Belranga was ok-ish, because you can let the mindstalker deal with the minor spiders, but the rest was just too hard hitting for me.
I prefer the Rogue/Chiper class (Mindstalker) with no subclasses for the Rogue part. Tons of utillity, high damage output, easy to get afflictions (for sneak attacks), great buffs spells to chose from. Dual wield and build up focus nearly faster than you can spend it. Works great in every team combination. I like to call the class a threat eliminator. Taking out their most dangerous foe quikly, and live to tell the tale. I prefer not to pick the Assassin style as it is horrible in the big boss battles or other fights that last longer than 20 rounds. Also it is way to easy to get unlucky crit insta killed with an assassin build. I also amlost only use the guile ability (Escape, Devastating blow and Smoke veil) Debilitating strike is also a good cheap pick for easy sneak attacks. Later active abillities cost too much Guile based on what you got due to multiclass. And Chiper spells is only buff or affliction focused and fast cast spells to use in the heat of battle. Except perhaps the Disintigration spell. It's just a perfect class imo.
streetfighter/sharpshooter is another potentially good build. Use blunderbuss(or two) with powder burns to constantly keep streetfighter proc'd and take all of the gunner passives from ranger, while the sharpshooter passive will always give you +1 penetration on your blunderbuss shots since the max range is 4m. I tried this build but powder burns hits allies so you have to constantly micro where you are shooting from to avoid hitting your own team, plus the -5 accuracy from keeping it on sucks. Remade with regular rogue/ghost heart with dual pistols, much less annoying to use, though the burst is lower.
Hey thanks I was just wondering when you were going to do rogue. I like the detail you go into, keep up the good work. I think I’m going to be trickster/cipher. 👍
I'm playing a arcane trickester rogue spellblade and I love it. I seen a dagger called the pukestabber in gonna try and get and I seen lovers embrace might pair then together. In loving this characters. Usually not a rogue guy but pathdinder made me love eldtorch scoundrel rogue. Really cool class and I made one in poe and its beast. I picked trickester so I can get mirror image and all that free. Freeing my guy up for more cool abiltys I may want to use. Gonna make him a rebuffing machine with also final blow prob.even though I'm going dagger might grab spirit lance to use for fun sometimes with riposte
Streetfighter need to be flanked but if he use shield and Persistent Distraction you can only be flanked by 4 or more enemies right? So you lose bonus recovery time and damage if you engage anything less then 4 and you have penalty 20% recovery time. It will be also hard to be bloodied if you have great deflection. I think Streetfighter is not a tank but a high risk/high reward control by damage rogue.
If you find an answer for this let me know. I have found a forum that says flanked is over engagement number, one that says two attackers at different enough angles no matter your engagement number, and one says over engagement number and at different angles. For all the information on this game I am shocked I can't find a clear answer on such a major aspect as flanking.
In first game = "flanked is over engagement number". I can only hope that this was not changed. Devoted/Streetfighter (Swashbuckler) using 2 x Battle axe could be insane with high crit chance and all the bonuses to crit damage from that combo.
you could use a blunderbuss and keep powder burns activated, you'll always be flanked/always have at least the first level of the streetfighter passive. whether a shotgun/shield tank would actually be any good? I dunno...but it sounds like a fun idea.
I'm running a rogue only build built around Ranged with Dual pistols and a rapier/shield for the 2nd weapon set to fulfil that Pirate role, it's really fun so far. :-)
what attributes? am I gimping myself if I start out with 15 might, 12 constitution (need vigor), 12 dexterity, 18 perception? this is assassin/soul blade
Well I feel like an idiot. Assassin/Barbarian rogue would have been perfect for me, but I just went assassin. I love this game and I am hoping for many playthroughs. Also how do you pause after every attack?
both of the hairstyles for the females you show in this video are not in my game. how do you get them. (the short one at 08:04 looks a bit like hair option 4 and the one in the beginning at 01:09 looks a little like option 5. but they are def not the same. How can i unlock yours?
If you say rogue doesnt pair well with casters then you havent played evoker assassin spell blade, there is no stronger open to a fight than an empowered power assasinate spell. 25 accuracy, 4 pen and the 50 percent more critcal damage on spells is pretty huge, and you can still restealth like 4-8 times or so per fight and cast with that buff again, it also means with a .5 sec 0 recovery skill you basically never get interupted casting as you get to cast from invis and untargetable. Between the 25 accuracy and dirty fighting you end up critting a lot a lot and your also casting a free copy of that spell 1 in 6 times. I mean it ends up being a pretty heavily dps character but it still has reasonable cc, but its absurdly survivable with pretty dumped con and fully dumped resolve on potd for me currently about halfway through. But you havent lived until you one shot an enemy with 150 health at lvl 9 with magic missles. You give up the nice summon weapons but you also get +45% dmg as well as upgraded finishing blow. I mean I have yet to find any other class being able to frontload damage like an assasinate evo spellblade.
So since i´m a noob at PoE i choose pala/rouge bleak/street fighter, I took alot of perception/dex to get a really high reflex to make reposite effective...but after this vid i wonder if reflex triggers "miss" and miss triggers reposite?
Hey, you've been very responsive so I'd like to ask, if I pm you or post a basic build I found that sounds awesome, could you elaborate on stat allocation/race?
If I multiclass a rogue with a wizard, does the wizard's spells benefit from backstab if I use them from stealth? That would be amazing if it is the case, having 150% damage fireballs or something similar.
It won't benefit from Backstab, but the Assassinate passive works great with AOE spells like Fan of Flames and Fireball - if you open battle casting a spell from stealth, every target will be affected with Assassinate. Drop an AOE and then Escape back behind your front line to ranged attack. Dirty Fighting also adds to the combo. If you want to focus on that AOE start-of-battle hit, you can even go Evoker subclass (although personally I don't like losing Chill Fog - the blind effect is too good with Sneak Attack). Of course if all you want is the start-of-battle hit, you can just put some points in Arcana and use Fan of Flames/Fireball scrolls until you get the Frostseeker bow upgrade. Also note that this is only for the first hit from stealth. If you cast the "Magic Missile" spell, only the first arrow will benefit from Assassinate.

You guys create the best guides for new games. I watch every video even if I do not have the game yet!
As someone who has been stuck in the char creation screen for 10 hours, THANKS!

One of my favorite Classes by far

I particularly enjoy the Harbinger (Chanter/Rogue) multiclass with the Trickster kit for a Bard-type character.

Very informative. Good job!

Holy shit! I want to tank with this class so much!
rogue tanking is big brain. it's like ninja tanking in ffxi. any game that lets you tank with a traditionally stealthy class is godlike
I'm playing a arcane trickester rogue spellblade and I love it. I seen a dagger called the pukestabber in gonna try and get and I seen lovers embrace might pair then together. Biggest damage boost is given by Dexterity, much more so than might. So I would neglect might if that means I can increase Dexterity.
Doesn't dex just increase attack speed in this game? Is that better than raw damage?
@@scottiepetersen8835 more speed means more damage, 3 20 damage attacks in 10 seconds vs 2 30 attacks in 10 seconds
amazing guide

What subclass/multiclass did you end up going with?
I went for a Rogue Assassin, the damage taken isn't mattering all too much as I'm primarily playing from range.
Would it not make sens to multiclass rogue with ranger in this case for some extra range skills?
Thaaaaank you!!!
what attributes? am I gimping myself if I start out with 15 might, 12 constitution (need vigor), 12 dexterity, 18 perception? this is assassin/soul blade
Thank you so much looks like a backstab micro heavy rogue is now viable

What's the starting attribute spread on the Holy Slayer? I think I found the sniper class I wanted :)

Swashbuckler (fighter devoted + rogue assassin) with one-weapon rapier. Thats my plan for first playthrough
little fighter :]
What's the name of your outro music?
Chanter next please?
Sooo, with this game having just come out in January for consoles, is chanter/rogues not a thing?
So since i´m a noob at PoE i choose pala/rouge bleak/street fighter, I took alot of perception/dex to get a really high reflex to make reposite effective...but after this vid i wonder if reflex triggers "miss" and miss triggers reposite?
Deflection triggers misses in melee, not Reflex.
so reflex trigger misses in range..?
azhar ihsan i Think reflexes Only makes aoe miss.
As a rule of thumb, Reflex vs AoE, Will vs mind effects, Fort vs body effects, Deflect vs Weapons.
There are exceptions, but that's the basic
Hey, you've been very responsive so I'd like to ask, if I pm you or post a basic build I found that sounds awesome, could you elaborate on stat allocation/race?
is stealth buged atm? I'm having issues cloaking and attacking
What about weapons? All are good for rogue?
Daggers mostly. I do use a rapier too, classic combo;)
Just learned that Trickster doesnt work with Wizardsubclasses that prevent Illusions. Bummer
So, if i hit the enemy from the back the sneak Attack dsnt work here?is diffrent in poe1 or i wrong?
If I multiclass a rogue with a wizard, does the wizard's spells benefit from backstab if I use them from stealth? That would be amazing if it is the case, having 150% damage fireballs or something similar.
Backstab works only with weapons.

Drop an AOE and then Escape back behind your front line to ranged attack. Dirty Fighting also adds to the combo.

Also note that this is only for the first hit from stealth. If you cast the "Magic Missile" spell, only the first arrow will benefit from Assassinate.
Assassin/Soulblade ultimate glass cannon
Assassin 4 Lyfe
Ok, hear me out: Chanter(Skald)/Rogue(Streetfighter)
