Great video and breakdown 👌. I'm noticing on our maintenance vehicles with ph neutral soaps this stuff is holding up extremely well after a month so far. On heavily soiled vehicles that need a pre wash solution that's a bit stronger the hydrophobic properties begin to breakdown. But like you said, it's a solid sealant at an affordable price. 👌
You were my muse for this video! I appreciate you being the pioneer and it is a solid sealant just if it had film , grime etc it will diminish over time
Quick beads protection was gone after I week of application and spraying a megs degreaser on there. I did the same thing to defender and he held up. These tests I take with grain of salt.

Great video and appreciate the effort to make the content. Without being too negative this is exactly the reason at our shop that I market “5 year coatings” as 2-3 years, and 9 year coatings (Crystal Serum Ultra ) as a 5 year. I would much rather under promise and over deliver whenever possible. Ceramic Pro sport which is actually developed by a different company (Kubebond Diamond Plus) is the only sprayable coating I’ve seen last 12 months or even 6 to be honest. C2V3 doesn’t last a month or two at least not here in Illinois. Thank you for your honest review there was quite a bit of hype on this one.
Appreciate you taking the time to reply, and I as well try to gate my customer’s expectations there has been so much hype around everything lately. I’m jus trying to weed through it. Defender as a sealant in climates not Idaho or places with salt , winter etc just won’t last but it’s a good protection for the price. Anyway thank you again!
What’s interesting, on the fender after the first hit of Nv Snow, it noticeably degraded. The door stood up stronger with harsher chemicals initially. 🤷🏻♂️
Great video Eddie, yes sometimes i tell people don't buy into hype wait it out now I'm glad to see that it can't keep up from harsh chemicals...... i never buy into hype you did a great job on this one..... you just own yourself a new subscriber boom 💥
My intention for P&S Defender is using it as a topper coat for my two coats of Jescar Ultra Lock Plus. After that, I'll probably top the whole shebang with some Optimum Spray Wax as essentially a quasi-sacrificial coat, especially in the winter months.
@@Ecdetails I gave it a try this afternoon. Incredibly easy to apply and wipe off. Very slick and shiny results! Even if it didn't last more than two or three months, I'd be happy with it. Tried it on my wheels with equally great results. I think P&S has hit another one out of the park!
I know nothing about how the chemistry of defender works. But I’m thinking that maybe it’s like Yvan said in that one podcast that some chemicals sort of scar coatings and they lose the hydrophobics until they heat up and cool off again. It’s only a sealant so it’s probably not chemically resistant to something like forst, but it should be able to tank all the incredible suds you can throw at it. I could be 100% wrong and that’s probably likely, maybe a good question for the p&s team during beadmaker and coffee on Monday though
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I can see the durability isn't the best compared to some other products. But in the gallon size it's rather good value. Perhaps could work well as a quick detail spray after every wash at that price point. Almost as a replacement for there Beadmaker product. Especially if the hydrophobics are better then that. Then the durability isn't as big of an issue.
Depends where you live but here’s what I would use Diy ceramic glosss Op Detailer Armour detail supply ceramic sealant Drive auto reup Griots 3 in 1 Nv jet
Eddie's coming in hot with this video ladies and gentlemen! This is a valuable test for those who are considering using some soaps and degreasers. Before winter hit I applied some Griot's Ceramic spray to test out which is basically it's a spray sealant. I've applied Forst on it twice to break down the road grime and it appears to retain some beading but I feel its definitely taking a hit until I use their spray on wax on the panel where it immediately beads up as if its rejecting it. I'm considering using a strip wash so I can use up all my old Griots gallons and move onto the good stuff. Anyways this is probably why I'd use Defender as a topper on a true coated car but I'd definitely choose it as a protectant in a pinch and knowing its limitations you mentioned in the video.
Well Defender is a light topper that is above Beadmaker in their line but made for California where they are located. All chemicals should have ratings for northern climates with salt and chloride exposure and a durability rating for southern climates. Company's also should have a rating scale for all their products in their line for chemical resistance , gloss , beading etc.
Doc, and not all sealants are created equal but I’ve used and tested sealants that take more of a beating then this. For the price and what it does inguess it might be worth it if you lived south more vs where snow ❄️ ice salt etc exists
Sealants have a cure time? I ask that cause 2 hours is longer then more high grade coatings but to rebuttal I demonstrate on panels that weren’t touched with water as well to demonstrate that with higher ph it will diminish the sealant especially in areas that have snow salt etc
Hey Steven I’m not sure I’ll have to test it to verify how it does I do know the following nv lustre ,owners pride ceramic detailer , nv jet can take more of a hit. I’ll need to test ceramic gloss

Vonixx Sinergy seems pretty durable so far here in Southern California but I don’t live in harsh conditions. Might be something to add to your list later on.
this lines up with another video i saw. They applied it to a truck and then did a 1month follow up and it was basically 80% dead. Now you are showing that it breaks down pretty quick even after gentle soaps. Saved me $26 I will stick with my DIY ceramic gloss and quick beads. I am starting to feel like P&S stuff is a bit just hype. I didnt find Absolute very impressive and beadmaker is good for slickness but sucks at actual beads and doesnt last at all. I like brake buster only because of the corrosion resistance i spray my rotors good while washing the wheels to cut down on the surface rust after a wash. P&S Xpress I used and scrubbed pretty good with and thought it was all clean. I followed up with a quick wipe with DIY interior clean and protect and it removed so much more dirt even after scrubbing with Xpress before hand.
Man that’s rough , I expected it to last a bit longer maybe 3-5 washes right so the question now is what gap does this fill? I like the cleanmaker mix and clean buster for maintenance washes. Owners pride ceramic detailer is a beast and so is ceramic gloss
