Next time, try using one of those little rock fish as bait hooked on the jig to catch a larger fish. On past trips, I've caught many ling cod using that technique. If you do that, remember you need to count the little fish as part of your bag limit for the day. Tight Lines!

I don’t remember the name of it. It was pretty big they said meant for 40 people
Leave two blues on and drop them back down. Been able to catch some nice "hitch hiking lings that way."
Yea I’d have to try that next time when I have my own gear. That was my first time fishing in California. I’m from Washington state.
