Great to see Skeeter and Schoey back and firing. Interesting trade review so difficult to asses them straight away, you really need three or four years to judge how the draft picks come through.
You're right and what seems like over or unders now may be viewed differently in a few months or years. Right now, it's the expectation/talent vs. cost. people are assessing
To be honest I was pretty aggravated that the Eagles traded 3 pick, when they could of taken Hawks pick 14 to use for Baker and kept 3 to either split or use. In saying that I am adamant the hawks won't make the 8 next season so future 1 and 2 could turn out ok.
Eagles will need to utilise Bazzo and Jamieson to help out as key defenders. Then consider players such as Maric who does have height. you don't want to move Allen and JWilliams back, but both have the height, bulk and mobility. And lets face it, you can learn a lot by playing against the best forwards. Barnett spent the end of last WAFL season in defence, but he needs fast tracking in the ruck at 100% of the time.
Schoe needs to branch out of Perth and Gws ! Essendon swapped pick 9 for Melbournes future first because it will get chewed up with the NGA ! Skeeter gets it !
13:15 - Sorry Schoey, but the fact that this was an environment where the players thought was private doesn't make it better and doesn't change the context. How many rapists or DVers have mates who say, "I never thought they'd do that." The fact that they think it's okay to joke about is the problem. I'm a POC and I've had mates make racist jokes, then stop and say, "Sorry, that's just how the guys talk on site." My response has always been something to the effect of, "Don't change your behaviour just because I'm present. Be yourself, but ask why you want to change because I'm here, and then ask why you think that behaviour is okay when I'm not." For AFL players in the public eye it's even more important. And you can say it was private, but there were caterers or other staff there. If you were a female serving that function and you saw guys making rape jokes, how would you feel?
Joking about something does not equate to condoning it. This is the realm of dark humour, and humans have been engaging in it forever. Jimmy Carr makes pedo and rape jokes...should he be cancelled? Or should people just take them as...I don't know...JOKES?!
@@luapjb It doesn't necessarily equate to condoning it, but it does make light of the topic and is almost always in very poor taste. As I said, how would a female caterer there feel amongst a group of guys making DV/rape jokes? What if she herself was a victim of DV or rape? It's so tone deaf and these guys are role models, for better or worse. And as for Jimmy Carr, wasn't he called out for making a rape joke about Lily Allen a while back while she was on stage with him? It doesn't matter how you frame it, it's shit behaviour to normalise laughing about rape.
@@kossend1 I personally wouldn't find such behaviour funny myself, but the other issue is that it was supposed to be a private event. As distasteful as the players' behaviour was, where should we as a society draw the line when it comes to policing the behaviour of others in private settings? You know we could eliminate ALL domestic violence if we all had live feed cameras in every room of every house and office in the country. Why do we not do this? The playing group and the venue staff did not handle this well at all...they should have disclosed their plans before attending, giving staff the heads up so that anyone who feels that they may be triggered could choose not to work that particular shift.
@@luapjb Yeah it's not about whether individuals find it funny, but whether a group of people would find it offensive or triggering. Whether or not this was a players event, this was a club event and therefore an AFL event. As such the players would have been expected to comply with the AFL code of conduct and other behavioural policies. Ask yourself, would this be okay at your workplace Christmas party? I think the answer is a resounding "No".
I'm probably going be unpopular for this but I can see why the AFL actually came down really hard on this because it was the first time this kind of thing has actually happened. so I think the AFL should be applauded in some ways for clamping down on this I think when you look at what Alistair Clarkson did with his homophobic slur and then nothing in terms of penalty ...guess wha? It happened again with a player doing it and that player I think got four or six weeks I can't remember so you set the precedent and hopefully this sets a precedent now that this won't happen again. Whether you agree or disagree. I guarantee you if Alistair Clarkson had been given a four week suspension for his homophobic slur that player would not have done what he did. The first time you hand down a penalty for something you go hard you don't try and easy way into it because that doesn't set a precedent. Some of the skits involved assault and sexual assault and terrorism it's not funny not on anyone's watch. You sometimes have to slaughter one to save 1000 what that means is you actually have to really go hard at the very first time? It happens and that it sets a precedent. I also think these young players will learn available lesson and hopefully they get appropriate education. It might seem harsh, but at the end of the day they will be better people for it.... if if the players had all just been given a $5000 fine and told to attend a one day respect for women course I guarantee you it would've happened somewhere else at another club in six months time. I think the AFL has come down with a heavy hand to basically say this is just not on and we don't want it to happen again. I reckon Geelong will cease their mad Monday stuff even though there was always funny and respectful. They won't take the risk now. I reckon the AFL was light on Jordan De Goey .... for what he did in Bali.... if they had suspended him for that, I reckon some of the other stuff that have been happening after would not have happened. I think women are also much more heavily involved in the game at corporate level sponsorship and even the women's league as well the AFL if they want to bring more women to the sport they had to act like this if this was 15 years ago and there was no women involved in the game or very minimal. I don't think the penalty would've been as severe.
The afl needs some Viagra eye drops and have a good long hard look at itself to suspend players for dressing up and mucking around on mad Monday end of season celebrations is an absolutely joke btw I don't condone any violence against any woman but to dress up and just have a few drinks and relax is not a crime that's worth a suspension or fine and what would be the difference of the players dressing up in the same costumes and going to a Halloween party would they be suspended and fined again???

Exactly. Everyone just needs to calm down and wait and see what happens
FINALLY…..The skeet, HAS COME BACK……To the Shelter Footycast
Welcome back Prez
Immediate smile on the face as soon as Schoey broke out with the “Well, well well…”
:)
All hail lord skeet
Lord Skeet returns to the throne
King Skeetz.
Hey it's the guy from the "Building For Tomorrow" youtube channel

The boyssss are back
Yes they are!
Interesting that you only see 2 key backs on the Eagles list? Isn't Bazzo a key defender? So three by my reckoning, but agree they need another.
He is one they forgot, but still not many options in terms of tall key defenders.
Also Callum Jamieson
@@kareypotter Yes, he seemed to be a ruckman to begin with but is now listed on the Eagles website as a key back. I think he did all right in defence.
Monday just instantly became Skeeta certified. Feel blessed
AFL clubs will just follow the NRL & have their wind up celebrations in complete secrecy & the media will have a whine about it
Okay champ
West Coast might need to bring ya back for another 20 games Schoey
Jamiseon can play down back. He did early in the '24 season, before his injury. I reckon he'll come good.
Jeez what happened in Cairns Scoey? Haha real shifty vibe on that one mate
SKEETER!
Stunned 'Sleepy' Joe Readings found his way back to Perth for the poddy

Similar thing happened to Adam Simpson at north with the ‘chicken incident’.
