This is my favorite performance of one of my favorite QB songs. The silence!!! I got chills when she walked out like that and realized what song this was supposed to be lmao.
    Some translation notes!
    (1) The title Hinaichi literally translates to Hina Doll Market (where Hina dolls and other necessities for Hinamatsuri, a festival to "commemorate girls and their femininity", are sold). It also signals the coming of spring and is heavily associated with youth- cementing the song's theme of underage prostitution, since the kanji for prostitution (Baishun/売春 - and the Queen Bee song of the same name that Avu has confirmed is a true story in an interview) literally translates to "selling spring".
    (2) Avu sings it here with the uncensored lyrics (which had to be modified for the official release). "One night with me is a hundred thousand yen; For an injection, it's thirty thousand yen" was "Easily earning a hundred thousand yen; Thirty thousand yen for a shot of magic" in the official version. (Translation source for the official lyrics: hackspettar on lyricstranslate)
The ‘injection’ line here is /most likely/ referring to estrogen- Avu gestures at the thighs in a lot of other performances. Thighs are NOT a good place to inject drugs into (if you want it to properly enter your bloodstream) but it’s ideal for hormones because they should be taken intramuscularly and the muscles of the thigh are among the thickest. This implies several things for Q('s story) as an Avu alter ego.
    (3) "Winning at Hana Ichi Monme, (being chosen), doesn't it make you happy?" - "Being chosen" was not sung, I just added it in English to give further context and meaning to the line. "Hana Ichi Monme" is a Japanese children's game and literally translates to "One flower is one Monme (an Edo-period coin)". It's basically rock-paper-scissors with a name-and-obtain system; a team loses when the other side has "obtained" (or "bought") every single member of the original team by winning rounds of rock-paper-scissors. It's an apt analogy for the exploitation of children for sex. In a variant version of the game, the two teams sing alternate lines from a song when advancing, and the lyrics put into this particular context are uncomfortable to say the least:
    (1) We're so happy we won, a flower is one monme
    (2) We're so upset we lost, a flower is one monme
    (1) We want that kid
    (2) We don't know which kid you mean
    (1) Let's talk about it
    (2) Yes, let's
    (Group discussion)
    (1) We want [name]
    (2) We want [name]

Me arrepiei por completo. Tenho desbravado a discografia de Queen Bee e estou em choque com as histórias contadas por entre as músicas. Tão tristes, mas tão lindas e tão bem feitas.

I am sad at it is but then I watched this, thank you for the translation. Avu-chan's storytelling through her songs is very heartbreaking, her voice is literally ripping my heart out.

she's a very powerful storyteller! with every recorded performance of hinaichi i find something new to love. my other favorite probably is the version with her only whispering the censored words as usual, but playing the guitar (cat betancur uploaded it on their channel). the lack of instrumentals for most of the song & her singing the uncensored words out loud worked really well for this performance, it's intense & uncomfortable.

@@girlgroceries you've describe them right. It's a contradiction that they could have the most disturbing lyrics but will have a musical arrangement and live performance that will suck you in to watch it over and over again. I hope more of their music are translated to English.
