I hate lab work and I've been doing this for over 20 years. God bless you assistants out there that enjoy it!!

I was taught in school to agitate the stone on the vibrator before loading the tray like Gabby did! Also after filling the teeth with stone we would sit the impression flat on the vibrator to get rid of any bubbles and then set to the side and build our base. Great video and I like that you shared the fails with us, we all make mistakes and it makes us better assistants and trainers when we learn from them!

Thank you for showing the downside of pouring models! No matter how 'by the book' I pour my models, they always come out with air bubbles. I've even tried all the tips and tricks people told me to use.

Make sure the impressions are dry and pour them slowly. I was really BAD at the beginning but, as with everything, practice will help! -Carla

How i train people to pour models is they must visually watch the stone fill every void, only adding in #2/15 or #17/31 areas and slow down by tilting the impression in the opposite direction everytime it reaches a "waterfall" point.... If you don't watch it run down the distal wall, and fill up in the bottom to the top, then you probably have a bubble. Using a small tool, like a PK, with stone can help fill crown preps and lone anterior teeth without a bubble. 16 years as a lab tech.
    Great channel btw 👌

Quick set snap stone , is the BEST ! Also the thicker the mix, less bubbles you will have☺️ flipping models can actually call air bubbles/voids as well.
We make bleach trays from start to finish in about 10 minutes with patient in the chair.
(maybe not advice for New DA’s)
Also start by putting a small amount of stone in the posterior of the model, and slowly vibrated all the way around adding a little at a time.
If you use the quick snack Quickstone put it in a bowl of hot water immediately after pouring and you can pull the model in less than five minutes! ☺️🦷
Also love you guys! Your videos are so relatable and funny!
    Thank you!😁

I like that peanut butter consistency, it's funny that you guys chose this subject, because I'm at new office now, and the doctor wanted to see my pour ups. I have got my technique down by watching and adding what has improved my technique over the years, and rarely do I get any bubbles. Well, he was watching me, and when I was done he said, " Ok, let me show you how to pour it up so there are no bubbles", he grabbed my spatula, emptied the impression of the stone I critically and carefully watched go in and out of each tooth, poured new stone in the teeth without being as careful as me, then grabbed an instrumented poked around to rid the stone of bubbles. I just about cried! Those were the things I removed from my pour up technique to avoid bubbles, and then I became the assistant that needed to be taught how to pour without proving my technique first lol, I was cracking up in my head, and at the same time felt like my technique was better, and less time consuming.

The Dental Advocate that’s hilarious! Soo clearly we were rushing here and it didn’t turn out great 😩😂 but you know what? We all go through those days! We thought it was important to show how we all make mistakes. But, it’s important to acknowledge the mistakes to figure out how to fix it. Stay tuned for our bleaching trays video using these bad models 🥴

It is very important to have proper measurement for mixing stone, if you do not want to waste material and have good quality stone models. Water is always 1st, then you add stone powder.
